A Stay Charlottesville property means that it is professionally managed by Stay Charlottesville, that it has met a strict set of criteria including design and quality, and that you'll have 24 hour support during your stay amongst numerous other benefits within our management group.
The Broadhead Mountain Retreat is located just a short drive from the city-limts of Charlottesville, taking you out of town, while still overlooking it. Broadhead, completed in 2011, offers modern living with rustic charm and quality. There are two private bedrooms to choose from –a master bedroom offering a high-end Savy Sleeper queen sized mattress and private bath and on the opposite side of the home a bedroom with two twin beds. If you feel like sleeping by a stone wood-burning fireplace claim the queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. The open living room, with wide plank floors and wall of windows gives you a breathtaking view of the Piedmont Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains. The view alone is reason enough to stay here. The kitchen is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, fit for a chef, with stained wood countertops, stainless-steel refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and plenty of cabinet space. Whether you feel like eating at the kitchen table inside, or sitting outside, you’ll be taking in the essence of Mother Nature.
This is the ideal setting if you feel like getting away from the hustle and bustle but still want to be close; Broadhead sits on top of a private mountain on over 100 acres of private land. If you want to spend some quality time in the country, breathe in clean mountain air or just go for a hike, then this might just be the perfect place.

Perfect get-away spot for relaxation and quiet reflection. The views looking west were amazing; we captured some beautiful sunsets. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. There is a long deck off of living room with a grill that would be perfect for warmer weather viewing and meals. As mentioned in a previous review the drive up the mountain in the dark is not recommended, although we did find the property, we had a few anxious moments. But the views were worth the drive!
After saying it was mostly great I need to explain. The cabin is beautiful with good furnishings. The road to the cabin takes getting used to but do it in the daylight the first time or two and it will be fine after that. The master bedroom is great while the 2nd bedroom is good for kids it doesn’t work well for adults. The bathroom lacks space to place personal objects, the lighting in horribly inadequate as is the lighting through out the place once it is dark outside. The internet was mostly adequate for the first two days but barely worked after that. Still all in all every single negative is a simple fix. Once the lighting is improved, shelve or something in 2nd bath, etc it would be great. The Internet needs a booster or some sort of upgrade. It would help to have dishcloths in the kitchen too. The comforters in the 2nd bedroom were so heavy as to actually be uncomfortable. Again , a simple fix.
The good: The house is wonderful. Hardwood floors. Great appliances. Wall to wall windows. The view is breathtaking. You look off the mountain down to downtown Charlottesville. Sunsets are best. And there is nobody around - absolute isolation. If your goal was to build a huge, open floor plan house in the woods with great views, this would be it.
The bad: First, the property is managed by a local company. Not a problem, just know that. Second, they didn't email our access code until the day of, after we called and prompted them. Third, the house is 12 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, after you drive 12 minutes to the end of the road, making it 24 minutes total. This house is at the end of a dirt road, about 2 miles in length. Finally, cell service is spotty, and the Verizon JetPack does not work well. Do not expect to be able to work remotely at this location.
If your goal is to get away from it all, unwind, enjoy a few home cooked meals, watch the sun set, read, walk through the woods and still have access to a huge flatscreen TV, spotty Internet and top notch appliances, this is a perfect vacation home for you.
We traveled to Broadhead Mountain Retreat to celebrate my wife's birthday and unwind. The remote setting delivered the quiet and peaceful get away we were looking for. The house was very well equipped, clean , and, comfortable. The long range mountain view down the valley is quite beautiful and serene and the deck made a wonderful spot to sit and relax. We thought a king sized bed would be the only upgrade we could even imagine and we were surprised that during the 5 days we were there we did not see one single animal on the property but there were deer in the area. An amazing place to relax, yet only 15 minutes to town. We would definitely consider staying here again.
Your home was a lovely pick for our trip. The wood craftsmanship through the home was beautiful. The sunsets are spectacular. Mother Nature at her finest! We would surely book again.
Enjoyed the privacy, view and well appointed kitchen.
