The Quetil Trail Guesthouse is located on the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, walking distance to Hedman Vineyards (0.5 mi) and Alto Vineyards (0.7 mi), and only 15 minutes from Giant City State Park. Two Bedrooms (Queen beds in each) and a fold out queen couch in the living room to sleep 6.

Sit on the patio and enjoy the afternoon sun, or watch the River to River hikers walk by. Walk to Grammer's market for basic grocery supplies or stroll over to the Rootbeer Saloon for a cool afternoon treat.

The property is conveniently located close to area wineries, Giant City State Park, and other attractions and beauty unique to Southern Illinois. Neary towns include Cobden, Goreville, Anna, Jonesboro, Alto Pass, Makanda, Dongola, Carbondale, Marion, Vienna, Carterville, Herrin, and Murphysboro.

Eclipse 2017 Payment Terms - 33% due at booking, 33% due 6 months before arrival, 33% due 30 days before arrival. Eclipse cancellations will receive 100% refund if canceled 6 months or more prior to arrival, 50% refund if cancelled 90 days or more before arrival, and 0% refund if cancelled less than 90 days before arrival.

About Steve Young

I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.

I had a very successful career in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year I would fly 125,000 miles and see many places, countries and sites.

As I grew older and my 'success' continued I felt more and more that something was missing. I began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people I left behind more and more.

I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for me, and I never really went home.

My father spent the year getting worse, and my Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois in order to spend more time with my mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.

June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.

Why Steve Young chose Alto Pass

This property was a a two unit rental property located in the quaint town of Alto Pass. The price was right to allow me to completely gut and remodel the back unit. A more organized upstairs with two lovely bedrooms and an amazing bathroom.

The front unit is still rented long term to the couple that was there when i purchased the property. Should they ever decide to leave I will fully refurbish the front unite in order to make two adjacent guesthouses for people coming to Southern Illinois to enjoy the outdoors and wineries.

The proximity to wineries, and area attractions is also great for this property.

The Big Red Barn

Very clean, modern and nicely decorated. Beautiful bathroom and kitchen area. Owner was very accommodating. Nice to have a bike / hiking trail across the street. A specific flat parking space would have been good to have and more privacy on patio. All in all its a GREAT location between hiking areas and wineries. Recommend the Blue Boar in Cobden/ Anna to eat.

Perfect for two couples enjoying the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail

We found our accommodations clean and ready for us when we walked in the door. On the first floor you will find the kitchen and combination family-dining room. The kitchen is small but feels bigger with its tall ceilings. We found everything we needed to cook. Family-dining room has table seating for four and a cozy sitting area near the tv. We wished we could have used the outdoor patio but the weather was just a tad bit to cold for that.

Upstairs we had two bedrooms and one bath. The shower in the bath is beautifully tiled and the towels provided are fluffy.

Steve left us snacks in the kitchen. He communicated with us well.

Area attractions. We came for the wine trail, but the first thing we found was the Quentil Trail. This was the bed of an old railway. The trail head can be seen from the house's front door. We found early blooming wild flowers and a great view of the sandstone cliffs.

Our favorite wine trail destinations were Alto Vineyards, Owl Creek Winery, Hickory Ridge Winery and Blue Sky Vineyard. We had a great time trying all the local wine options. For restaurants we recommend the Trails End Lodge as they provided the best meal of our stay, with a very unique style of cooking your steaks. In the outdoors arena we suggest visiting the Natural Bridge for a short but beautiful walk. We also highly recommend the Little Grand Canyon hike, which is a challenging 3.5 mile loop with excellent views of how a creek carves into limestone.

After our daily adventure we were happy to return to our weekend home. Thank you for sharing your space.

Relaxing and Peaceful

If you are looking for a place outside of Carbondale that is close to some winery's this is the location. This property is located in a small town but it is very quiet and neighbors are not an issue. It is very nicely decorated and Steve was very quick and easy to work with. We would definitely look to stay here again and would recommend it to others.

The property is located 100 feet from the entrace to the Quetil Trail, and hikers of the River to River trail pass by almost daily in good weather.
