Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Kingston - Catskill Mountain Log Cabin

Picture perfect log cabin in a beautiful wooded setting minutes to everything

When you think about going away to the beautiful Catskill Mountains this year imagine staying in the most gorgeous log cabin. This 6 year young cabin is really set up nicely for your visit and will be hard to leave. Set back off the road in an opening in the woods with no close neighbors. Plenty of wild life though! The kitchen will please any chef with it's gas range and spacious granite counter tops. From the kitchen you can walk out to the killer covered back porch or into the comfy living room complete with gas fire place. On this same floor you'll find two nice bedrooms and a full bath with tub. The lower level is set up with a comfy TV area. Here you'll also find a pool table and half bath as well. This place will make a great home base for your daily adventures. Make sure to hike to the Over Look Fire tower to drink in it's amazing 360 degree Catskill Mountain views. Spend a day at the Mohonk Preserve and hike to Smiley's tower one time or Gertrudes Nose to see views you won't soon forget. Ulster County is home to some amazing rail trails as well so bring your bikes. This is truly a 4 season vacation area and a home that you'll want to come back to time and time again.

Great Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay. The value is in the picturesque setting away from the standard hotel/motel, parking lot views and fast food restaurants. The surrounding view on the back porch included a backdrop of beautiful fall foliage, multiple wild turkey and several deer sightings in the evenings. The photos in the listing and the location are accurate. The cabin had that rustic feel and was well stocked with a lot of high end amenities. Inside, the cabin had warm feeling where the girls enjoyed the playing one of the many board games in the closet. They also enjoyed the downstairs pool table. My wife really enjoyed the fireplace. Out the back door, we explored the surrounding woods with some hiking with our young girls. It was ideal for them as opposed to trekking for miles elsewhere. In the evening we enjoyed the fire pit for making s’mores. The location was good for our itinerary of apple picking, Hunter Mountain Festival, Woodstock and finally The Old Rhinbeck Aerodrome Airshow. I grew up in Kingston and haven’t been back for years. I was surprised that there were more things to do in the area than we had time for. Bruce, the property manager, kept in touch with us daily and was very responsive with our requests, providing great customer service. We visited the Wilklow Apple Orchards as it was great for kids and apple picking. Modern Mythology in Woodstock is an eclectic store that my wife loves to visit. Dallas Hot Weiners is a must visit diner for anyone that grew up in the area. Hunter Mountain Skyride was very cool for all ages and the Zipline Line looked cooler. The absolute best attraction was the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Airshow. It’s the only place in the world you’ll get as close to and experience what it was like to fly an aircraft shortly after the years of Orville and Wilbur Wright. I have two recommendations how to improve the VRBO. First, the windows need coverings for the evening. We felt a little exposed late at night. There were people next door clearing brush and burning it well after dark. Second, it would be nice to come and leave from the front door during our stay instead of having to enter through the basement. Overall, we had a great vacation and really enjoyed staying in this VRBO. We would definitely recommend this property to our friends or family. Thanks for the memories!!!

Perfect spot to relax and explore the area.

  • 5 of 5

Our family recently visited the area for the first time and we will be back! We found the location to be ideal to visit the many sites in the area. The log house was in a private spot, yet so easy to get to get to Kingston, Woodstock and the many hiking and swimming areas. The house was clean and very well equipped. The living space was spacious and inviting and opened onto a lovely outdoor deck. We enjoyed an evening fire around the fire pit. We enjoyed an amazing diner in Hudson( Wm Farmer and Sons), lunch in Woodstock, and of course breakfast at the Phoenicia Diner.

Bruce was very helpful, responded back to me so quickly, and offered great instructions to make our stay better than we could have imagined.

Simply amazing!

Beautiful house that made for a perfect long weekend getaway. My girlfriend and I just spent 4th of July weekend at this breathtaking log cabin. This has been our third Hudson Valley VRBO rental in the past year, and was hands down the best one.

A covered veranda with beautiful views into the surrounding forest, a fire pit for late-night bonfires and extremely charming kitchen and living quarters.

We can't wait to go again!

Property was beautiful; spacious; quiet and well groomed!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful 3-days at the cabin in Kingston. We were minutes from Woodstock;, hiking trails, and rustic mountain voyages. The cabin was comfortable, spacious and well equipped for any family or five (5) or less. Well stocked with games, pool table, a bar, and a very large flat screen TV with cable. Great kitchen equipment and accessories (I'm a chef). There was even a fresh market 10 minutes away that could even rival Whole Foods, with great fresh produce and proteins. At the house, there were many kitchen staples already supplied - baking items; oils; vinegar's; butters, etc. We would definitely return again in the future.

The management company was quick and responsive when we had a minor plumbing issue, just as we arrived.

The reason for four (4) stars instead of five (5) is the plumbing issue that I felt should have been avoided, and we were not supplied a front door key which would have been more enjoyable, than going thorough the basement every time we returned. The house also lacked bedroom shades that gets you up kind of early when the sun beams in.

Thank you to Bruce for an enjoyable weekend.

Owner's Response: Thanks for being so easy on the home. Not sure what to say about the 'plumbing issue' as the house was 100% fine prior to your arrival. Lord knows what you flushed that I had to come use a plunger to remove. B

Perfect trip

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent the holiday weekend at this gorgeous cabin and it was everything we could have expected and more! Even though this was a weekend away, the cabin immediately made us feel right at home and had all the amenities we would ever need with the added bonus of a panoramic view of the beautiful outdoors. We were able to spend time in Rhinebeck and explored other surrounding areas, even taking on the challenge of hiking Overlook Mountain. The hike is 2.5 miles on a steady incline, but rewards you with the most spectacular views of the Hudson. After exerting much of our energy on the trail we had a great lunch in Woodstock, only to retreat back to the cabin to roast s'mores by the campfire. The property manager, Bruce, was more than accommodating and ensured our stay was both comfortable and relaxing. I am extremely excited to come back for another family trip or even a romantic getaway. So happy to have found this gem tucked away in the woods.

It truly is a beautiful cabin and setting, convenient to all things offered by the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. Come back again and experience Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mountain Preserve and the Mohonk Mountain House. Thousands of protected acres full of old carriage trails to roam and views to drool for! Beautiful Modern Log Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our party of four adults loved our stay in this very comfortable, exceptionally clean and well maintained cabin. Bruce the property manager was really easy to deal with and responded to our emails quickly. The property itself is beautiful and sits in a secluded clearing with woods all around. (There are two homes that can be seen from the house but both are probably two hundred yards away.) The kitchen has everything you need to whip up any kind of meal and there's a grill out back. We didn't have a chance to sit around the fire pit but it certainly looks inviting with the Adirondack chairs. Even better than that is the porch/deck on the back of the house with it's very comfortable upholstered outdoor furniture. Sorry we didn't have more time to spend out there! Beds are comfortable and the linens are well above par. The entertainment area in the lower level is complete and as other areas of the house, aimed at comfort. One note: there are no curtains on any window. This really isn't an issue due to the secluded nature of the home but seemed a little unusual at first.

The area of course is amazing with endless things to do. This was our first trip to the Woodstock area and we were not disappointed. Our itinerary only allowed for some strolling through Woodstock, Phoenicia and Saugerties and the beautiful drives between them. We did get up to Kaaterskill Falls but found parking impossible so we had to be satisfied with a drive-by. Had a light dinner at YumYum Noodle Bar (Woodstock) which was really good. Ate dinner at Mountain Gate Indian Restaurant (Woodstock)...food was good, wait staff nice but not the sharpest, restaurant is really worn and not the cleanest place. Wanted to eat at Garden Cafe on the Green but the line was to long (I'm sure this bodes well). Had lunch at Love Bites Cafe in Saugerties and would absolutely eat there again. My daughter is vegan and we found an amazing selection of foods at the Sunflower Natural Foods Market. The rest of the stores in all towns were incredibly varied and great to wander through.

I can highly recommend this property. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Owner's Response: Wish you folks would have had more time to explore the area. Truly is beautiful here. We have two huge parks here to explore called Minnewaska State Park and the Mohonk Preserve. Countless thousands of acres of protected land full of trails to hike and bike and shear rock faces to climb. The Shawangunk Ridge brings in climbers from all over the world. Thanks for being so easy on our cabin. Please do come see us again!! Respectfully, Bruce Rental Manager
