The Granary is a spacious house tastefully renovated to a good standard keeping many original features, oak beams, stone fireplaces. There are two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. One room consists of one king bed, the second room consists of a King and two single beds. Both bedrooms have separate entrances. The kitchen is well equipped and will accommodate 6 persons at the table. The lounge has a comfortable suite, TV, and a door to the garden. There is a terrace, a vine-covered BBQ terrace and a door which leads to the heated pool, which is set in a sunny spot with a terrace and sun loungers. The large garden will accommodate everybody, children playing and others relaxing with a glass of local Anjou wine. There is plenty of off road parking for your vehicles. The house is set among vineyards and farmland and well placed for you to explore the Loire. Not far restaurants and places of interest and local events, and also wine tasting if you wish.

We have enjoyed renovating this old farmhouse, delightful tuffeau stone property to it's present state.
Sophia purchased this farmhouse in 2014
Having visited this part of France many times, we fell in love with the area and were lucky to find this farmhouse to renovate.
We enjoy the tranquility of being in the pretty French countryside while being able to access charming towns like Angers and Saumur.
This is a fantastic Gite in the middle of the gorgeous French countryside. We stayed here for 2 weeks with our 3 kids aged 5, 7 and 9 - so intensity is full on! Like most professional couples it usually takes until the second week of a holiday to truly relax and come off the work email/social media 'grid'. If you stay here you'll find yourself totally chilled with 48 hours. You wake up everyday to the sound of birds singing and the place is surrounded by wheat and sunflower fields in full bloom - heaven. The pool is great and perfect for kids as the deep end is fine for them. There's a swing, a trampoline and lots of space for them to run around and explore. The family who live there are lovely. They showed our kids their 2 bunnies and brought them up to their garden to pick strawberries and vegetables for dinner etc. The family are very hospitable while entirely respecting your privacy - i.e. they're easy to be around. There's lots to do in the area for kids with zoo/botanical garden/water park/chateaux etc etc but the kids were perfectly happy hanging out around the house or going on a cycle. You will need a car with sat nav for sure but it's very easy to drive around the area including to Angers and Saumur as traffic is light. It's a beautiful authentic Gite and the family immediately tended to any needs we had. There's a lovely boulangerie and creparie in Brisac Quince and likewise Doue La Fontaine - both nearby. Likewise the supermarket is 10 mins drive so all easy. It was a little sad to leave which is always a testament to a great place and great people - book it!
My family of six stayed in the Granary for two weeks in July 2013 and loved it. La Seigneurie is set amid beautiful farmland in the countryside of Anjou. It is very quiet and peaceful; the only sounds you hear are the birds singing and the occasional distant hum of a tractor. We very quickly fell into a relaxing pastoral rhythm - leaving the "outside world" behind.
There is much to do in the area - exploring the many local chateaux, the cities of Saumur and Angers, the troglodyte dwellings, the Loire river itself. If you have children, there are nearby amusement parks as well. You can also relax in the pool at La Seigneurie, play games on the grounds (bocce, table tennis) and go for walks in the countryside.
The Granary easily accommodated the six of us. The entire property is well maintained, with modern conveniences, but still maintains the charm of a 350-year-old farmhouse. Antony and Sandy are delightful hosts. They will make you feel at home and will have many suggestions for things to do in the area. They are always available but they are not obtrusive.
There are laundry facilities on site and you can shop for groceries in Gennes or Doue la Fontaine, both of which are a short drive away
Nestled on the outskirts of a small hamlet surrounded by farms producing a variety of produce, the generous accommodation (The Granary) is dated but clean and spacious with a lovely rustic farm stay feel. The modern pool is set in a sunny position and can only be entered through a lockable door making it child safe. While the pool and BBQ area were shared with the (two) other (smaller) rental properties on site, at no time was their a feeling of overcrowding. In fact, we had the pool to ourselves each time we wished to use it. The Granary also benefits from a lovely outside seating area. Tony and Sandy are great hosts. Even though they were only next door, you don't really know they are there but were eager to provide advice and tips, when asked.
We spent two weeks at La Seigneurie in the 2-bedroom Apartment, overlapping our stay with family who stayed in the Granary. Both places, and the grounds in general, are clean, well-maintained, and yet "typical"l; that is, the accommodations are modern, without sacrificing the charm and history of the structures.
Sandy and Antony are lovely hosts - friendly and helpful, but never obtrusive. We felt as if the entire grounds were ours. Enjoy the pool, the cookout grill, several outdoor eating areas, even the game room (table tennis).
The property is well situated for visiting the sites of both Anjou and Tourraine: within 30-40 minutes drive of Angers and Saumur,- each with so much to see and experience - Brissac, Montreuil-Bellay; Fontevraud, Montsoreau are about 60min, and a little farther (in the 90minute range) are Chinnon, Usse. Tours (and therefore Amboise, Chennonceau, Langeais, Vilandry, etc) is also 90min (autoroute) by car, or you can take the SNCF from Saumur (free parking!) and get there in less than an hour.
In early July, the sun sets about 22:50 and the sky is crystal clear at night. The surrounding countryside is peaceful, and the sunflower and poppy fields not to be missed!
I'm a runner and did not lack for variety of routes in the 5 - 18km range.
The town of Gennes - 9km away - has all your logistical needs with a Super U and gas station. Try kayaking on the Loire from Gennes, also with Canoes d'Anjou. Doue la Fontaine has a nice market on Mondays, and the Angers market is on Sundays.
France is very family-friendly with reduced or free admission to nearly all sites and modes of transportation for children under 18; visiting lots of chateaux and museums will not break the bank!
Highly recommended for the location in general and the specifics of La Seigneurie. Enjoy your stay!
We were delighted to find La Seineurie offering a spacious Gite in the
French Countryside near Saumur . . . a town we had previously visited.
After viewing the website www.loireholiday.net we reserved the
Granary for our 17 day stay. Having the second bedroom, each with
private bath on the second floor, allowed for comfort when we had
family join us for the first week of our visit. We grocery shopped
in the nearby town of Doue la Fountaine and prepared most of our meals
in the spacious country kitchen and enjoyed sitting in the garden
The location of La Seineurie is ideal for visiting nearby villages
including Angers, Montreuil-Bellay, Saumur and many of the historic
Chateaux that dot the countryside. We desired to be in the French
Countryside and were aware that not having French could present a
problem but our hosts and owners are from the UK and were very helpful
in advising us during our stay and after a few days we adjusted to not
having an Englsh speaking channel or the BBC on television.
We would highly recommend having a GPS . . . even though the roads are
well marked it helps to set your destination ahead of time and enjoy
the wonderful countryside! We traveled late September and returned
early October to the US . . . a perfect time in the Loire Valley. We
were there during the grape harvest, the apples were being harvested,
the corn fields were all golden with color and mild temperatures with
little rain, just one day after the next with blue skies. The only
difficulty we had was with email . . . WIFI locations are very
limited. Our hosts had WIFI but it was only available within their
residence and not available in the Granary. We would compose an
email on our IPAD and when it was convenient would sit at their table
and forward the email.
The website photographs are a true representation of this lovely
location in the Loire Valley . . . you won't be disappointed.
Visitors can enjoy a peaceful or lively holiday with lovely restaurants to try, numerous chateaux to visit, historical monuments, vineyards to explore, troglodyte caves nearby to visit and typical French charming villages to discover. Also the Cadre Noir Equestrian Centre at Saumur if you like horses is well worth a visit. Or a balloon ride over the Loire. Not far away are some good theme parks for all ages. Good shopping at Angers.
