|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Hunters Hideaway is the last property at the end of a dead end gravel road, secluded from the busy every day things of town. There will be nobody driving by and no neighbors to see. This property is truly a backwoods rustic retreat. The cabin is located on 5.5 acres of mostly wooded land with a small backyard and large turnaround driveway. Hunters Hideaway is a simple cabin with 2 bedrooms; each with a full size bed, closet & dresser on the main floor. Also on the main floor is the full kitchen, living area with gas fireplace, ample seating, and TV/DVD. Also on the main floor is a full bath with tub/shower and seperate washer & dryer in the mud room. Off of the living area is a patio window leading to a patio with built in fire pit and a gas grill. In the living area is the stairs leading to an open loft containing two full beds and a bathroom with shower. Outside there is a covered front porch, shed with 3 seperate dog kennels each with barrel and bedding. The kennels are covered and on a slab and properly cleaned between every renter. (Please request to have pets in the cabin)
Hunters Hideaway is geared to hunting parties, it is located in the 'Grouse Capital of the World' with its endless supply of public hunting area just a couple miles drive from the cabin, but is also a great getaway for families and friends that like all the activities country living has to offer. Snowmobile trail access is only a couple miles by sled, river access and canoe landing is a few miles down the road, the woods is right out the back patio and this is the land of a 1,000 lakes ranging from small swimming holes to large lakes with great clean parks, boat landings/docks and enough room to water ski, jet ski and musky fish.

I and my husband Corey and daughters Logan and KayCee manage Hunters Hideaway for a good friend of ours, Eddie, that is currently living in Virginia. We live just before the cabin on Aspen Lane, we can almost see the cabin roof from our home.
Corey and I are avid hunters. We both whitetail hunt with gun and bow, bear hunt and of corse bird hunt with CoCo, our best bird dog ever. Logan, who is 11, has been trying to sit with mom during gun season the last couple of years, but just doesn't have the patients yet, but did get her first deer with the crossbow at 10.
Our favorite pass time is camping! We enjoy sleeping under the stars, tenting it, or using our pop up. We go all over Wisconsin looking for new parks and fun things to do.
I was born and raised and hardly left the Phillips area and my husband was born and raised in Appleton, WI with a small cabin in Phillips, but couldn't wait to move to Phillips after he met me :)
Kristin Brockman purchased this cabin in 2010
We built Hunters Hideway from 2009 to 2010 doing most of the work ourselves. Before Corey became a maintenance man at a local factory he owned his own construction/flooring business, primarily doing custome tile jobs. The cabin is conveneintly located near our residence for ease of maintenance and assitance. Hunters Hideaway is located at the end of a mile long private gravel road that is located at the dead end of a 5 miles town road. It doesn't get any more rural and secluded than that. We joke that it is at the edge of the earth. With the nearest town being a 15 mile country drive.
I stayed in the cabin with my wife to celebrate New Year and enjoy cross country skiing.
The cabin is very convenient and well maintained. The forest is right outside. You may ski to the forest or use some ski trails in the area.
We enjoyed our stay very much.
I am actually hesitant to write this review. This is such an amazing cabin and property that I'm afraid if too many people find out about it, I'll have a hard time getting a reservation next time! This was the second time I stayed at the cabin. But I guarantee it will not be my last. The cabin is modern, clean, and comfortable. It has all the amenities of an urban townhouse nestled in the peace of 5 acres of grounds and woods. What's more, it is only 15 minutes from Phillips -- Perfect for year-round adventure. I have come up for grouse hunting and found it a luxurious step up from my usual accommodations for the same price. I hope to come back in the spring or summer for biking and hiking. Really, the location and setting are optimal for anyone looking to experience all the Northwoods has to offer. And Kristin and Corey could not be more gracious. They live just down the road and are only a phone call away if you need anything. There is a DVD player for entertainment, but otherwise you are on your own -- no internet, and cell service in the area is spotty. The cabin does have a land line that works just fine. There is an upside to the lack of these services -- the cleanest air you have ever breathed, more stars at night than you could ever hope to count, and the sound of absolute serenity. Fido can come with permission! Mine liked curling up next to the gas fireplace after a hunt. Yours might too. I got a chance to dust off that book I've been meaning to read. In short, this cabin is what a cabin is supposed to be. A refuge from the ills of our world. Sound too good? Stay here and find out.
My wife and I stayed here for a short weekend away before the Christmas season began. It was great to come up from Chicago and be surrounded by snow. The cabin was very comfortable and we loved the fireplace. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils so we could cook and stay in. The outdoor fire pit made for a great evening under the stars. We enjoyed how secluded it was. The drive to the cabin is about 20 minutes from the nearest grocery store, which is exactly what we were looking for.
Thanks for the great weekend!
Kristin and Corey were outstanding hosts. The cabin was very well outfitted and maintained impeccably.
Our visit was for a week of hunting, so the location was ideal for our purposes. We couldn't have been more pleased and will hope to return next year.
Thank you, Kristin and Corey!
If you're looking to get away from people, traffic, technology, etc. this is a great spot. Right when we pulled onto the road leading to the cabin, 3 deer hopped into view and ran across the road. It's a pretty cool thing if you're not used to seeing that. More deer came running onto the property once we arrived about 50 feet from the cabin.
My family and I, including a 2 year old and a small dog, had an absolute blast. We cooked out, drank beer, took naps, stared at the stars, made s'mores... Absolute camping in the woods cliche. :) By the end of the trip, my nephew laid in front of the door and cried because he didn't want to leave.
Groceries are also totally convenient. Everything you need is located in Phillips which is roughly a 15 minute drive from the cabin.
I would absolutely recommend this listing, and my family and I have already discussed making this a tradition.
The cabin is set in a secluded setting at the end of a private road. It is extremely peaceful and quite. The cabin itself was very clean, and had everything necessary for our stay. Kristin was very helpful with directions, and replied to my inquiries promptly. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family.
access to snowmobile trails by sled (no need to trailer), public hunting with in a couple miles, step out the patio into the woods, South Fork of the Flambeau River only a couple miles away, many large and small lakes to choose from, closest towns are Phillips and Park Falls both roughly 15 miles from cabin.
Discounted rates available for larger groups and/or longer stays.
We charge $125 per pet. You will receive $100 back at departure if the cabin is undamaged by the animal.
