I'm a 79-year old composer/performer married to a writer and college professor. I used to teach at Rutgers University (NJ), and currently am continuing to work with my three ensembles, doing new and old works, etc. My wife, Ann, teaches at the New School for Social Research in NY. She's working on her fifth book publication. We were both born in NYC.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1984
We bought our loft (a co-op) to actually live in the neighborhood where I first started my NY career as a "downtown" composer/performer—on clarinet—in the early 70's. I needed rehearsal space, and during those times you needed an "artist's certificate" from the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs to live in Soho. We also both wanted light, and this loft was the first we saw that had a skylight in the center illuminating the whole space. The four "industrial" windows at either end take care of light in this—I still believe it!—gorgeous space.
A perfectly beautiful, very quiet working, entertaining, just living space. The developed roof garden and deck is a godsend in all months but deepest winter. We will arrange with the guest to have it maintained during the rental period. People who visit us here are uniformly impressed with the space.
