We have been married for 40 years. We have 5 children and 17 grandchildren. We built our home in 2003. We have hosted our youngest son's wedding in the yard. We have watched most of the grandchildren learn how to swim on the lake shore. We play volleyball, badmitten, croquet, and bocce ball as a family. We fish, swim, and play at the beach. Most importantly this home has provided us a place to come together, reconnect and care for each other. We love sharing family meals together around the dining room table and out on the deck. We celebrate birthdays and we learn to have fun together as a family. As we thought about our retirement package we realized how fun it would be to offer this place that has brought us so much enjoyment to others. We certainly hope you enjoy it as much as we have. We are so happy to welcome you to our property.
Ross and Mary Nelson purchased this house in 2003
This is a perfect place to let healing, rest, relaxation, and fun happen.
If you are a gardener--either flowers or vegetables, you will enjoy a walk around the property. We have spent many years building on our beds.
I took my daughter and son 8 and 9 year old to get away from everyday routine life, to rest and spend some time together . Property was great, kids friendly, large front yard for any games and playing. Home itself is super clean, fully equipped kitchen, unbelievably comfortable beds. I think I slept better than I sleep at home. Owner Ross & Mary were very nice, friendly and accommodative people. Thank you for great time.
A suburb place for any family. We loved all the water toys, sand box toys and inside play toys for the kids. The home was immaculate, well equipped, easy to follow guidelines, and very, very comfortable. Beautiful scenery, large outdoor deck and super gas grill. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, enjoyable, safe, and relaxing place to get away!!!
Not even that one day of rain hindered our remarkable annual family vacation.
Well, this was our second time staying at this delightful summer home! We enjoyed it so much last year we had to come back...and have already scheduled for next year! We have stayed in a lot of places, but none keeps us coming back like this one! If you are in need of a peaceful and relaxing getaway, then this is the place for you! Mary and Ross are absolutely the best when it comes to trying to accommodate guests! When you walk in the front door....no....when you first drive up....everything is so inviting! A walk through the front door leaves you looking at a home that is remarkably decorated, immaculately clean, and so inviting! And there is nothing lacking for a playful time.....from the canoe, the kayaks, the paddle board and the wonderful dock and raft to the fire pit at night! We have found our niche in this relaxing, secluded, and quiet home! So many things remain in our thoughts, but one is looking at the lake after dinner when it was a clear as glass and you could see the reflection of the trees in the water....just like a mirror! This is our time to reconnect with family and Mary, Ross and their beautiful home have certainly made that possible.....and for that we thank you!
See you next year!!!
My family and I were in great need of a peaceful, relaxing, and fun vacation after a series of busy and crazy weeks. The Nelson's property did not disappoint! We so enjoyed our stay! The flowers and garden areas were so beautiful; and the house very tastefully decorated, peaceful, and homey! (I spent a lot of time indoors the first day or two de-stressing- it was that peaceful!)
We appreciated the space each of our seven family members had. My husband and I shared a queen bed; our son was able to sleep on the futon in the attached 3 season room, while our two older girls enjoyed the twin bed room; and our youngest two girls shared the queen bed room in the lower level. (Loved the personal towels in the bedrooms!) The common areas were just perfect for our family's needs and desires. ALL of the rooms had GORGEOUS views of Road Lake...so peaceful and serene! The lake is not affected very much by high winds, as it is a smaller lake; jet skis, speed boats, and pontoons are not heavily used, so it is very conducive to quiet water sports (i.e. kayaking, canoeing, row boating, paddle boats, paddle boards, etc.). Ross and Mary have respected the lake wildlife with a beautiful balance of a buffer zone with marsh/lily pad/tall grass growth and a sandy area for kids to play in with zero depth entry. VERY family friendly!
Ross and Mary's love of family is evident - indoor and outdoor games, popcorn and hot air popper, life jackets, sand toys in a bin, floating swimming raft our kids loved swimming to and playing "King of the Mountain" on , videos and DVDs, magazines and books, etc.
We had fun at the Kwahomet and Min-Aqua Bats water ski shows, Wildwood Zoo, Bambino's Pizza, and Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Restaurant.
When we first chose to book our stay, we weren't sure what to expect with Ross and Mary and their son living in the lower half of the home, but we found that it was nicer having them there to answer questions, tell us about favorite spots to visit, get to know on a more personal basis, and know the home was safe with them there. We didn't feel like we needed to lock up anytime we went anywhere! I liked the way the Nelsons had clearly designated locked doors with "Private" on them that were for their use only. They were very respectful of our own personal family time, but had a beautiful way of extending themselves to us and sharing in our fun.
We highly recommend this little "taste of heaven"; the Nelsons are gracious hosts!
We shared a week at Ross & Mary's home with family. It was wonderful accomodations for our family. We had little people and grandparents and everyone had a fun time! The home is simply that, homey: the kitchen is well equipped, the games fun, outdoor items (kayaks, paddle boards, boats, sand toys, etc) just make it simply easy to go and have fun. The sand beach and nice sand area in the water was great for the little ones, the swim raft was great for the older ones. Ross & Mary were kind and made sure we had what we needed. We appreciate the time away with such great accomodations.
We picked this home for our family to stay at while visiting Tomahawk for a wedding. We were very happy with our choice! There were six adults and one child and there was so much room for us, that you could easily have more people. The open concept living space makes you all feel connected. The sunroom off the deck still lets you look into the living area. This home is very nicely decorated and has everything you need and having two bathrooms is also a plus. The lake was beautiful with a sandy bottom. The canoe, kayaks and paddle board that are available were used a lot! This home is not air conditioned, but has ceiling fans in all the bedrooms, living room and sun room. It might have been helpful to have a screen on the front door to get a cross-breeze. We would definitely stay here again!
