The cabin was built on 15 acres of family land by the current owner and a few of his closest friends, each a jack of their own trade. The White Pine logs were picked, sawed and hand notched. All of the cabinets and exterior doors were handcrafted out of Walnut. Rocks for the foundation and fireplaces, which serve the living room and master bedroom, were gathered from the surrounding mountains. In addition, when built, the hardwood floors were pulled from the gymnasium of the high school in which the owner had attended some 18 years prior.

In addition, not only are we pet friendly, we encourage bringing your four legged companions along! A place to run in the country?! What more could any dog ask for? If you are like us, your vacation just would not be complete without the entire family present. Doggie Sheets are available so they can snuggle with you in the bed. Towels can be found in the 'Doggie Clean-up Station' on the front porch in case your companions get a little dirty while playing and exploring. Bags and waste cans are also provided for the inevitable bathroom breaks.

About Owner/ Manager

My father and I absolutely love our Mystic Valley and everything the country, as well as the city of Asheville, has to offer. And we want to share our amazing place with you!

My father was born here and has refused to leave this amazing area. However, I decided to explore other locations including New York City, Wilmington and Charlotte. After living elsewhere for 13 years, I decided it was time to head back home!

Dad is now retired and I am a Professional Behavior Responder for the ASPCA Field Investigations & Response Team.

Why Owner/ Manager chose Asheville Area

Mystic Valley offers the ideal combination of total seclusion and convenient access. Located in the beautiful historic community of Big Sandy Mush where the land has been farmed by the same families for generations, our ancestors included. In addition, the cabin is just a 30 minute jaunt to the lively downtown scene. A very short distance to travel to experience the boundless diversity of Asheville.

What makes this cabin unique

Guest Satisfaction Is Our #1 Priority! You can rest assured we are available 24/7 if any problems should arise or just to answer your questions.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We enjoyed our stay at Mystic Valley. The home was clean, cozy and rustic. Sitting on the porch was our favorite spot to enjoy God’s glory! Our time together brought us closer as a family!

Had a wonderful time at the cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and the area was everything as promised. All the convieniences of home wrapped in a rustic log cabin with stunning views of the lush valley and surrounding mountains. We loved the large front porch, the views, the spacious cabin and the outdoor fire pit. Such a nice rural setting but only 10 minutes from the store.

Cat and Joey were very helpful and easy to deal with. We will be back...!

perfect

We had a great stay. Your Dad was the perfect host. When I first saw the picture of the property I felt it might be enhanced to make it look better. Now that I have been there I realize it did not do it justice.

“Most relaxing vacation I've ever had!!!”

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was just as pictured. Views and all. I have stayed at other cabins where the pictures were very misrepresenting....Not here! The Cabin is beautiful and very spacious and has everything you need. Even the beds were comfortable!!! And the views are beautiful!!!! I felt more at home here than in my own home! Before getting there I dreamed about sitting on the porch drinking my coffee....it was what I did every morning. Watching the clouds come over the mountains, listening to the faint moo's from the cows. Now that I'm back to reality.....its all I dream about again. Our dog Roo absolutely had the time of her life. She didn't want to leave "her" porch behind. We will definitely be back! The great thing about this cabin is that your not really that far from anything you'd need. There are grocery stores and drug stores in Leicester. The trip to Asheville is not far at all.

Cat and Joey were wonderful!!! We really enjoyed talking with them. And Roo loved them too!!!! We can't wait until next year!!!

Breathtaking!

  • 5 of 5

Elevate yourself in not just altitude, but also in peaceful solitude. Leave your problems behind on the mainland as you trek up the mountains to this little piece of heaven tucked away in Leicester N.C. The structural design is so tastefully done, to simply call it a cabin would be an insult. The morning view off the front porch is breathtaking. My wife said it was the best cup of morning tea she ever had, until the kids woke up. We packed accordingly, but all you really need is your cloths, everything else was there, even that one thing that you always forget to pack (Q-tips this trip). Stop at a grocery store on the way up, and you’ll never have to leave unless you want to. The place was immaculate, the linen was fresh, the grounds were well maintained and pet friendly. I couldn’t have dreamed of a better experience. We will most definitely be back, I highly recommend it. Thank you so much Cat for making us feel like we were close family in town visiting. See you soon!

Perfect location with great views!

  • 5 of 5

The location of this place is fantastic. Its far enough away to feel secluded but close enough to Asheville (30 min) that you can easily head into town for some quick shopping or dining. My wife and I stayed here with our two dogs as part of a week long hiking trip through the Pisgah National Forest and Smokey Mountains. There are numerous hiking trails within a 45 minute drive from here if hiking is your thing. The views from the font porch are fantastic and a great way to unwind at the end of a long day. The house itself is well appointed and equipped with everything you will need during your stay. The property is perfect for dogs with plenty of space for them to run around. While there is no fence to keep the dogs enclosed the natural grade surrounding the property (steep hill behind and in front) almost acts like a fence and worked well keeping our dogs in the general area. We cant wait to come back and visit again.
