Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Emerson East

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Here’s your chance to experience the cozy comfort of an airy, cottage-like apartment, with the convenience of a downtown location.

This quiet, sunny second-floor apartment allows you the peace and quiet you deserve. Imagine the respite you’ll feel when you sink into a dreamy bed with a top-of-the-line pillow top mattress. You’ll cherish the feeling of high-thread count 100% cotton sheets on you skin. And you’ll wash away your cares in a luxurious clawfoot tub with shower.

Appointed with care by the home’s owner – a former proprietor/chef of a heralded Door County inn – this apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen. You’ll also enjoy the convenience of a washer/drier in the basement, in-unit tv and free wireless. Start the day with French press coffee on your three season porch.

Venturing out, you’ll find a host of activities within walking distance. Nearby Tenney Park offers boat launches, fishing, pontoon rides and ice skating in the winter. And you’ll find many different award-winning restaurants and coffee shops. The area is served by a number of bus lines and taxis are easily accessible.

Take a look at the photos and you’ll see why there’s no reason a short-term stay in Madison can’t be a memorable one.

Why Leah chose Madison

The location has the dual advantage of being close to everything this fantastic city has to offer and yet is on a very quiet street and neighborhood.

What makes this apartment unique

I love that the apartment is in such an old house and neighborhood. However, there are some quirks to the building.

A few considerations :

This is a second floor walk-up apartment in a 2 flat.

The ceilings are slightly lower than average which means that the shower height could be a little cramped for very tall people as one steps up into the claw foot tub.

Otherwise you will find that the apartment is exactly as pictured (except there is a newer TV than the one in the photo).

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Leah-

Thanks again so much for your hospitality! I had a wonderfully relaxing stay; your place is lovely.

Quiet, Comfortable, and Slightly inconvenient all at the same time.

  • 4 of 5

I was in Madison for a week on business with EPIC in Verona and my husband came along for the ride.

Initially we were not impressed when we opened the door to the apartment. I'm unsure if it hadn't been used in awhile but the heat mixed with unpleasant aromas of the house were not inviting. I ended up buying candles, Febreeze, and Air Effects to help stifle the smell. After dealing with the initial aroma, we opened windows, and tried to air the place out. We also used the fan which provided some air circulation.

The kitchen was awesome for two. We had everything we needed and did most of our dining there.

It really is an excellent location for those wanting to explore the ins and outs of Madison. Short drive to most attractions. My biggest issue was with the parking situation. You are not allowed to park in the driveway and although the parking on the street is free - I think it would be helpful if the owner described the parking situation a little more clearly. Kids from the high school park on this street for school, and you are only allowed to park on one side of the road between 7 and 4. On two occasions, I had to park two blocks away from the apartment. I don't believe this is factually described in the listing.

Along with the other reviews, I would comment that the shower is slightly treacherous. Really high sides and very low ceiling. My 6'1" husband had a difficult time. Another thing to consider is how many outlets you may need in the bedroom and bathroom. We were charging our phones in the kitchen and I was also blow drying my hair in the kitchen.

If interior design is important to you, as it is me, you may find that the photos are slightly deceiving. There are no plants, rugs, or decorative pillows on the sofa. The main rug in the living room, to my standards, is heavily stained.

All of that being said, I WOULD return on my own. I hope that this review is helpful to potential renters as well as the property owner.

Happy Travels!

The apartment was funky, but very clean.

  • 3 of 5

We were there during an unusual heat wave. There was only a window unit in the bedroom. Luckily, we were there only at night. The hot water would not turn off at the shower, so it added to the jungle like atmosphere. Leah was very good at getting the plumbing problem fixed.

For the price, I could have found a better place with more updated interiors.

Nice Cozy Place

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is great and a nice switch from hotel living! I will only warn that if you are taller than 6'0" you may not care for the low ceilings especially in the shower. I am 6'0" and when standing in the shower the ceiling was about 3/4" above my head. Otherwise this is a really neat place with a full kitchen, comfortable bed and plenty of privacy. Thanks!

Small, cozy appartment

  • 4 of 5

The place is good to stay for 1 person. Queensize bed, a bit small for two. The place is nice and cozy. Land lost always available by phone/Email and ready to give advice.

A little drawback: The kitichen does not have a an exhaust hood making the whole appartemnt smell after cooking. TV in the bedroom only. No cable just DTV. So low (around 10) number of stations only. A bit remote from the down town. and bus frequency in the evening.

But else, I enjoyed ma stay.

Great little spot!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here for a wedding weekend and we were so glad we did. We were able to use the kitchen and hangout when we had down time. Leah was very prompt in responding to any questions or concerns. It is a cozy and comfortable place for anyone under 6'2".... My husband couldn't stand up straight in the bedroom or bathroom. But it was still enjoyable and charming.

excellent, comfortable low key rental in madison

  • 4 of 5

This rental in east Madison was all we had hoped for. It was a second floor flat with a fully equipped kitchen close to some great places like a local brewery (one barrel brewing company) and a great vegetarian restaurant with a fantastic brunch. The neighborhood was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable, as was the couch. This is a very retro apartment and like lots of attic apartments the ceiling was a little low. But we were 5'7" and 5'2" so this was no problem. There was good climate control with fans and we were very comfortable. Leah was a very helpful host who was very responsive to our request for information on local restaurants etc. We would definitely stay there again.
