Well equipped modern home: 2 Bdr, 2 Bath and 2 story boathouse which sleeps 4 and stores renter's powerboat with dock surrounding and a second floor sunning deck. 36 hole Robert Trent Jones public golf club 20 minutes east. Canoe, pedal boat, kyack & raft.

About Peter & Lucy Fetterolf

Lucy and Pete Fetterolf --We own two adjacent camps on the North Shore of Indian Lake. One of the properties we rent out for a majority of the summer but use it occasionally when our other camp is overflowing with family and friends. Lucy's grandparents purchased the camp when the only access was by boat after arriving in Mountain View on the New York Central Railroad, which in those days was the main access to the Adirondacks. Lucy has spent virtually every summer of her life in camp and Pete has been here since before their marriage in 1955. Our four children with their 11 active grandchildren for the past 40 years have been the predominant camp activity. The base camp has two boathouses and an inboard speedboat which our family keeps active on the waterski front whenever they are here. Of course there is a sailboat, kayaks, canoes, an outboard and windsurfing to keep the activity at a high level. The property has had continual upgrading over the years such that it requires normal maintenance but no major improvement requirements.

The adjacent property, Loon Landing, was owned by Lucy's sister until her death four years ago and was similarly maintained and upgraded. We purchased that property from her family for our expanding use and rental. We are normally in the neighboring camp and available for advice and help.

Our regular home is in Lloyd Harbor, New York on the North Shore of Long Island within a mile of the beach and Long Island sound.

Lucy is a graduate of Wellesley College and Pete a graduate of Williams College and the Harvard Business School

Why Peter & Lucy Fetterolf chose Adirondacks

The property has all the advantages of Adirondack living with cool nights, reasonably warm days, gorgeous views and a multiplicity of activities both on the lake and in the adjacent mountain area. We are slightly over one hour's drive north of Lake Placid which is a beehive of scheduled summer activity. However, most people find that the opportunities on the lake and in the immediate vicinity keep them more than occupied while they are here. Loon Landing is at the end of the road there are two vacant properties adjacent to the cabin and effectively no neighbors on that eastern side. The Fetterolf's are the neighbors on the west so you are isolated to the degree that you choose. The property in the rear is all wood lands with no real estate development of any kind.

There are a number of very interesting and easy hikes in the immediate area which typically are less than a one half day activity. In addition of course there are all the Adirondack peaks which are being overwhelmed by hikers these days as you see when you drive on the approaching roadways in the Lake Placid area. We have many books and descriptions of these hikes and what and where they are involved.

If you are a golfer, the Malone golf course is a 36 hole, Robert Trent Jones designed course, which although part of a private club is available for public play through phone reservation and moderate fees. The course is fairly busy not only due to the use by local citizenry but also to its proximity to Canada which brings in many golfers who take advantage of special motel packages.

The lake itself has good fishing, if you are competent, and excellent swimming with water temperatures in the 70° area and the lake bottom smooth and Sandy. If you have a powerboat and wish to bring it the loon Landing boathouse can easily accommodate it. You can launch it on the neighboring Mountain View lake and drive to our property through an adjoining channel.

What makes this house unique

The appointments of the Loon Landing cabin and boathouse which you can see from the attached photos are the most modern and convenient. Not only do we have the advantage of DirecTV but also satellite Internet. We have the highest quality construction and sanitation system which keeps all of the effluents in distribution fields well away from the lake. This is true of both of our properties. The exterior and interior finish on the property is continually maintained for cleanliness and comfort.

The boathouse is somewhat of a hidden opportunity with beautiful upstairs sleeping quarters, an external second floor deck with a gorgeous overview of the lake and the contents of the boathouse itself with the opportunity for docking your own boat there, if appropriate.

We do provide a canoe, pedal boat kayak and raft.
