PLEASE NOTE! $200 is base ( single in apt ) price only. Check Notes section for other rate details. The house is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac high on a wooded hill overlooking The Hudson River and Catskill Mountains with some of the area's most breathtaking views. The sun sets right in front of the house every night and slightly to the south in winter. The two bedroom apt. is approximately 1000 square feet and located on the first floor of this modern and well maintained home. The apt is newly renovated. I installed new hardwood floors, sisal carpets, A/C and air purification system, new beds and bedding, some new furniture, fresh paint, new screens on porch and Flat screen TV. It has a well lit and private entry 50 ft.from parking. Bathroom with shower, large living room with fireplace ( firewood included ) which can accommodate more guests if necessary, Fully equipped kitchen, covered, screened in porch and large deck area with small outdoor dining table, Adirondack chairs and hammock.
I am an artist/designer living quietly upstairs. The two zones are very private and separate. The decor is tasteful, uncluttered and clean. Dogs are welcome depending on their temperament and size. Please mention ahead of time if you would like to bring your pup. They would not be permitted on furniture or beds and must be curbed on the premises and picked up after. I would love to share my idyllic setting and assist in anyway that might make your visit more comfortable.
The charming village of Rhinebeck is four miles north teeming with restaurants and shopping. I am surrounded on all sides by grand Hudson River Villas many of which are open to the public. I live in the midst of a NY State park where you will find miles of trails for hiking and biking. Norrie point is a public marina for sailing and kayaking. Southlands is an equestrian center just up the road. Further afield, Bard and Vassar Colleges have plenty to offer.. Tennis, indoor swimming, sauna, art collections, music venues just to name a few. Hudson offers the best antiquing around while Millbrook has vineyards and the most bucolic country this side of 'The Pond', Downhill skiing is 45 minutes away, Catamount in the Berkshires or Windham and Hunter Mountains in The Catskills.

I have lived in Rhinebeck since 1990, my family has lived here since 1832. My kids are happily living elsewhere and they left a big vacancy so I am wanting to fill it with polite, friendly travelers who are curious about this part of the world. I am an artist /designer who lives upstairs with my pug, who will be especially happy to see you! I love to travel myself and hope you will find everything here that you might have at home or would expect to find in a good hotel or fully equipped house. I am accommodating, quiet and unobtrusive. Please let me know if you need anything to make your stay more comfortable or if you want suggestions to explore the area.
Hilary Huntington purchased this apartment in 2004
I bought this property immediately upon seeing the view. I instantly saw the potential and love living here!
The long distance views and sunsets will make it hard to tear yourself away! While you drive through a neighborhood to get here, once you rise up the vertiginous drive and arrive at the house, you will think you are miles from civilization. It's peaceful, quiet and occupies the highest geological point in the immediate area.
This lovely apt below Hilary's home in upstate NY was the perfect private getaway for my husband and me - nicely decorated, just the right amount of space, loved having full kitchen, and the a/c worked very well. We needed a place near Omega Institute and this fit the bill. We did not want to experience the negative reviews of Omega's onsite accommodations and this renovated apt fit the bill perfectly. Hilary is friendly and helpful and she was incredibly responsive any time I had questions or curiosities about where to dine, directions, etc.. We would definitely stay here again.
Hilary has a lovely property with wonderful scenery, large windows and patio to enjoy it, and no view of the neighbors. This home is right in the middle of where you want to be and what you want to do. From Poughkeepsie with the Walk Across the Hudson, Ross's deli, and the the Culinary Institute of America, to the town of Hyde Park and FDR's homes and library, then north to Rhinebeck with all the fun shops and eateries, every destination is under 30 minutes away. Great antique stores, bakeries and Farmer's Market are waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. If nature is your thing, you could hike a different trail everyday for a month and not run out of new areas to explore. And after the day's fun, come back to a lovely place where you can sit outside with a glass of wine and enjoy even more of nature's beauty. Hilary is a great host who responds quickly to questions and wants her guests to be comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was great, excellent views and a lovely host. Thanks Hilary!
From the moment you roll up the winding hill to its perch overlooking sweeping vistas of the Hudson River Valley and the mountains beyond, you realize that this is a very special place. Yet, that is only the beginning.
The apartment itself is charming, newly renovated and has all the comforts of home. You will find yourself surrounded by fine furniture, tasteful art, and entertaining bits of Americana and memories of Hudson Valley from a bye-gone era. With that said, its warmth and modern comfort that will make you want to put on a pot of tea and curl up on the couch. In a short time, you will feel right at home.
You are left wanting nothing. The beds are top quality and new. The linens and towels will have you reading labels and the kitchen has all you need to prepare toast or a full dinner of fresh ingredients from the nearby local Hudson Valley farms and shoppes. I cant recall the last time I stayed in a B&B style apartment where I had all I needed right at my fingertips. I happen to value high quality kitchen cutlery. Bam!
The views from the apartment's Adirondacks style screen porch will make it hard to leave. But when you do, you will realize quickly that you are in the heart of everything, yet off the beaten path. A perfect combination. We found the location perfect for a quick midday stop ( or nap in my case) and then back in the thick of it in minutes without skipping a beat. Ten minutes to Rhinebeck. Fifteen to the Culinary Institute of America. Mills Mansion is directly across Route 9 at the bottom of the hill.
There is always something going on nearby. We came for the fall foliage. Summers are relaxed and dreamy. This is truly a top five for this traveler.
Do not hesitate. Highly recommended.
The apartment is tastefully decorated, very comfortable, immaculate, and complete with a well-appointed kitchen. We were there over a gray, chilly, damp weekend, but the grounds and porch would be lovely in better weather. A quiet setting handy to Rhinebeck and Hyde Park, and just half a mile away from a wonderful state park lined with trails -- -- it was everything we needed.
My wife, puppy and I had a great three day/night stay at this property and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Rhinebeck vicinity. We were welcomed at check in and provided great advice as to things to do and places to eat. Great hiking nearby and restful quiet in the evenings.
