4 Bedroom with 3 baths, nice kitchen and waterfront views.

Waterfront home located on wooded lot with easy slope to custom dock. Be sure to view our video for greater impression of property. A little dated since we have put in new block steps, walkways, and fresh deck paint.

Dock offers multiple levels for sun and fun. Spend the day on the dock, fishing,

swimming, tubing, or jumping off the upper deck. Keep snacks in the dock

refrigerator or microwave. Comcast TV over the covered area bar. Floater dock

keeps your boat ready to deploy.

Relax in our country porch swing or hammock, have a meal on upper or lower areas facing water and main channel. Before you turn in , relax by the fire pit with family and plan your next day!

We rent Saturday to Saturday, CHECK IN at 3:00 PM and CHECK OUT is 10 AM.

About Michael Fox and Betty Lou Fox

My wife and I are Virginia natives who started coming to SML on weekends and then purchased our Fox Lakation home as a great place to build memories and get away.

Purchased in 1998, we have remodeled and upgraded with hopes of someday retiring here. We live on a farm within one half hour away and regularly visit the lake.

High Point Subdivision 8 is one of the lake's best kept properties. There is no better

location to own if convenience to area attractions are important to you. By water or car, you have access to SML marinas, bars, food, worship, shopping, or outdoor activities. Our Property Owners section just completed a total remake of tennis and basketball courts. Locked but with access code, you can walk , bicycle, or drive to these grounds.

What makes this house unique

Our rental home is comfortable, spacious, and has lots of sitting areas to view the wide water views. Easy approach slope to dock. Whether you are old or young, most

vacationers want easy access to the water and dock activities. Party dock comes with upper deck for sunning, dining, or jumping. Lower left and right decks plus floater offer easy entry into the water. Wade over to our other shaded deck with steps to waters edge. Little ones can get in and experience wading with supervision.

This house had everything we needed and more. There was no detail forgotten to make renters comfortable. It is in a convenient location by both land and water. We enjoyed spending all day and evening on the big dock. We would definitely come back and recommend to friends!

Choosing our rental home is a great decision for convenient access to all water activities and area family attractions. Our waterfront home gives you so many choices including dock time, boating activities, fishing, tennis, basketball, nature walks, reading, cook outs, and fire pit seating. Less than 5 minute drive time to area churches, bars, two Wineries, shopping, and gas supplies. Great public golf courses nearby. Great SML location with awesome views, huge dock with many amenities. You won't be disappointed.

This property is located in a small cove with limited wake. Great for laying out on rafts, kayaking, swimming and boating. The lake can be seen from the front and back of the house. Great sunsets in the front with a community boat if needed. We had more than enough room for 8. Downstairs bedroom is a bit small but there is a huge bathroom on this level. This house is a hop skip and jump away from some of the local Dock bars. There is ample parking for 4-6 cars. Upper deck was great for breakfast and dinner. Seating for 12. Easy boat access and docking for a pontoon or boat of your dreams. Gas grill available. Bar, fridge, and microwave available on the dock. Upper dock has ample seating but bring umbrellas if you want shade. Water temp was 83 degrees first week of August. Be prepared to chill on SML. Most properties like this one do not have wifi. TV and social media are limited but if you want a relaxing week or two on the water, you will not be disappointed. Tennis courts within walking distance. We would go back to this property. The owners were more then helpful in answering our questions during booking and the house was clean and organized upon arrival. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

Fabulous Location - Exceptionally Clean!

After eight summers spent at SML, we found the location of this house to be the best. It is close to all of the "excitement" at the lake as it is just a five minute boat ride to Bridgewater. It is also just slightly in a cove, but very close to the main channel, which gave us plenty of opportunities to enjoy the mischief in the waters by the passing boats. Needless to say, the view of the lake was superb, given the great location as well.

The house was very clean upon arrival. We hope we left it just as clean when we left. A slight negative would be the excess personal belongings left in some of the rooms, leaving them a bit cluttered and a few of the drawers in the bedrooms and the cabinets in the kitchen unusable as they were reserved for "the owner".

There was plenty of room for our party of mostly seven (eight for two days). All of us were very comfortable, although the bed in the main bedroom was very lumpy and should be replaced. When we wanted to spread out, though, there were many places to disappear to - both inside and out. (Of special mention is the "Fox Two" dock to the left looking at the lake from the house as it is covered with shade just about all day). Great areas to read books, to stretch out alone to enjoy the scenery or to just plain take a nap. We also utilized the fire pit even though the temperature was in the high 80's/low 90's all week long - almost perfect weather.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We thank the Foxes for sharing their home on SML - from your new friends in NOVA, Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Great week at Smith Mountain Lake

Our family of 8 had a great time together at the Fox home. The house, yard and docks were just what we needed to relax as a family. There was ample room in the house so no one felt too closed-in and it had plenty of books to read! But who wanted to read. Since the weather was great, we spent lots of time in the water and on the dock. It was fun to troll around looking at all the homes around the lake and find a cove to pull into for swimming and fishing. Great home for a getaway.

Great location, beautiful view of the lake

The house is beautiful, with a gorgeous view of the lake. Everything was clean upon arrival and the property is really amazing. Having linens and towels provided was a real plus. The owner is really friendly and very accessible if you have any questions. Bridgewater Marina is 5 minutes by boat. We rented a boat, tube and wakeboard and had a great week on the lake. Had a wonderful meal at The Landing restaurant.

Awesome dock and easy water access

We have rented houses at SML for years and this one is our favorite. The house is older, but so well maintained that it's a non issue. The dock, easy water access and yard would make up for it even if it was a shack. We will definitely be back.

Lots of positives:

-- Location--10 minute drive to Food Lion and Bridgewater Plaza. 5 min drive to public boat ramp. 5 min boat ride to Bridgewater Plaza

-- Owner--very receptive and easy to access during our stay. We had some issues with the TV and the power went out. Mr. Fox was kind and helpful-did not seem at all bothered that we called him 3x! Takes very good care of the property.

-- House--not a luxury listing but very comfortable. Furniture and beds were in good shape and comfortable. Had a great deck on main level and a patio on ground level. It is pet friendly but doesn't look like it or smell like it.

--yard--very well kept. had lots of green space for our 2 dogs.

--dock--by far the best feature of the place. Our kids loved jumping from the 2nd story dock and we had lots of room for our boat and jet ski without taking away swimming space. The full size fridge was awesome for storing drinks and snacks at the dock. the TV was a great respite when the kids needed a break--the kids never came into the house until dinner.

Just a few suggestions:

--Cabinet space. This was the biggest drawback. The house sleeps 8 and serves 40. There was zero space to store food. I can't imagine any family needing an entire cabinet (3 full shelves) of coffee cups. And I counted 7 ladles. There is no way any family of 8 could use all that stuff. We ended up removing some larger items and storing them in the hallway so we could have a cabinet for food. I recommend pairing down and leaving a couple cabinets for the renters.

--The deck on the main level really needs a power washing as there is mildew growing on it.

--The TVs could definitely use an upgrade.

--It would be awesome if the deck on the main level was set up so the patio under it could be used while it's raining. We had quite a few rain showers and sat outside with umbrellas just because we didn't want to go inside.

These are just my family's suggestions. In no way would any of these deter us from coming back to this house but wanted to include them in the review. We had a great stay and can't wait until next year!

My family and I had a wonderful time at this charming home on the water. The location of this property is absolutely fantastic and very near to Bridgewater Plaza! The home was very clean upon arrival and everything was neat and in good working order. The two level dock was fantastic as well!!!!
