Nice overall, but not as clean as I would've liked

  • 3 of 5

Overall it was a nice place. There was enough beds for several people more than just us to stay there. The pond was pretty. The road to get there is a little sketchy in the dark but we managed it. This definitely had the peace and quiet we were looking for. The property is beautiful. We loved listening to the sounds of nature outside. We did see a deer on our way once and the fire pit looked very cozy. We liked that there were screens so we could enjoy the outdoors from inside with our baby without getting eaten by bugs. The porch was nice but didn't have a great view. You're surrounded by trees so very secluded.

Now for the negative: When we arrived at the property we were greeted by about 10 dead bugs on the counter. When you see that you're a little on alert for signs that the place isn't as clean as you'd like. My husband reported the coffee pot was not cleaned, and the downstairs bathroom was not as clean as I'd like. The kitchen is tiny and the homeowner details what is in there but we didn't really grasp how small it was. It appeared to be a diy addition. There were also some live bugs in the cabin that we saw. I understand you're in the woods so some of that is normal but the diy stuff was not well sealed, which would let more bugs in. We were more on alert for bugs, admittedly, because we had an infant with us. You also need to bring your own towels and there was no sponge or dishrag in the kitchen, so we had to use paper towels but then there were only a few paper towels-but we eventually found the extras in a totally different part of the home.

Overall a positive experience but a little disappointing. I did attempt to discuss this with the owner but he brushed off my concerns.

Remote get away

  • 4 of 5

A basic, neat and clean get away. Pond and outdoor activities were fun. With the small, limited kitchen, a bit of a challenge to prepare meals on the grill in inclimate weather (we had a lot of hard prain). Fun fo r a small family/group.

Exactly what we wanted!

  • 5 of 5

Our family (my husband & I along with 2 of our kids) just stayed in the Country Cabin, & we absolutely loved it!! It was delightfully quiet, had nice beds/rooms, trails, a pond with tons of bluegill (didn't fish but fed them from dock, & they ate like crazy), 2 grills, fire pit----pretty much everything we needed for a remote little getaway. The cabin gave us a great opportunity to hike & explore but then come back to spend quality time with our kids. Only things to note: make sure to get ice (or any last min items) in town on your way in - it's just so remote, & there's no internet, so pay attention to directions on your way in because our phones didn't work till about 5-8 min out. All in all, a truly enjoyable trip. Abdul was thorough, responsive, & very helpful to work with. We'll definitely be returning in the fall or late spring!
