This is a beautiful spot for two couples, a family with children or a group of friends. 2.5 hours from Manhattan, you can leave after work Friday and stay late on Sunday. Come experience the natural beauty in a Catskill valley that hasn't changed in 60 years — except for a our fast, reliable wifi, DW, W/D and deep freezer for long-term stays (there's lots of fresh meat and produce to be found in the surrounding area, and our kitchen is convenient for basic breakfasts and elaborate dinner prep alike).

This is a four-season rental, cool in the summers (no need for air conditioning here) and snug in the winter. Fall foliage is magnificent and spring is a joy for those who like crisp morning air and cool, comfortable afternoons.

A Beautiful historical home

  • 5 of 5

The owner kept constant communication with me. The house is beautiful but in need of some TLC so one has to be gentle with the house. The lil bench in the middle of the lawn was missing but we found it and it seems weather has taken its toll on it. We had some heat wave during our visit so it was a lil uncomfortable to get some good sleep as the ceiling fans did not help much and there was only one fan in the den with the daybed which my daughter used as her room and the mattress was very thin so she woke up with some back pains. Construction work was being done on some days so that too was not helpful in a relax sleep. During the time we stood the streets did have constant flow of cars going back and forth so it was not isolated. However the young ones did have a blast we did see some awesome star shows on our first night but the other days the weather was cloudy but we were treated to some awesome lightning effects in the skies. We did get to see many deers, beautiful butterflies, lots of daddy long leg spiders, falcons and beautiful singing birds. The neighbors seemed to have been around us during our whole stay though it wasn't really a bother but we were not as isolated. Supermarket is very near by. The house was very warm to us and we did have some good times. Owner also was quick in giving back the damage deposit.

Great Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I came here with my family for a last minute trip to relax for a couple days. The house was exactly what we were looking for. It is big an spacious inside with great outdoor space. I recommend.

Quiet Relaxing Getaway Location!

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I wanted to get out of New York City for a weekend and couldn't have hoped for a better spot to relax. The house is quiet and secluded but is conveniently located only a short drive from modern amenities. The wood burning stove was a treat to light at night!

Perfect weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I spent the weekend here over the holidays just to get away and spend time together before our hectic schedules resumed. The house was perfect. It's very old and cute with plenty of space. Although there was heat, I enjoyed making fires. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen, too. Even though there was wifi, it was nice going somewhere where everyone wasn't staring at a screen the whole time. My friends and I really enjoyed the town and the surrounding areas of the house. We went on walks and explored a bit. I couldn't be happier with my stay. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away for a bit for a quality getaway.

Great Cozy House

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time on our girl's get-away. The house was a perfect size for us (4 of us together) and had everything we needed to keep us cozy and warm. We were ablet to take walks and enjoy the October foliage. We hope to come back again next year!

Delightful getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful! It was an ideal setting for a brief escape from NYC with friends. The kitchen especially has a great layout for group cooking, and we grilled outside as well. The shaded porch and hammock were great spots for lounging while staying cool, and although it was plenty hot outside, inside the house stayed remarkably cool, too. We went for a hike to a nearby fire tower, which had lovely views, and rewarded ourselves with ice cream in town. Overall, everything was fabulous -- we had access to everything we needed, either in the house or nearby -- and the hosts were really accessible and easy to work with. I'd definitely recommend it!

Car: necessary

The Catskills are a wonderful retreat in all seasons; when you book with us you'll want to reserve time for getting out to explore, hike, ski, and love the mountain air. But there are plenty of vacation amenities too: farm-to-table restaurants, great farmers' markets (as local as it gets!), farm tours, plenty of cute villages for shopping, and much more. But you don't have to leave it all behind: spa services, yoga, bookstores (and even a local absinthe producer!) will keep you as plugged into city amenities as you need to be.
