About this property

Cottage On The Shore

Cottage on the Shore rests in one of Deer Isle's most picturesque settings on family land owned for generations. The setting offers lush, wooded privacy, an outstanding beachfront, and views across the bay to spruce clad islands and the hills of Camden in the distance. It would be near impossible to find a more beautiful setting. The home itself is a marvel of sweeping expanses with rustic warmth. Cathedral ceilings, an open floor plan and ample windows absorb the natural setting, stunning water views and streaming sunlight soothed by wooden features and a natural stone fireplace. The spacious living room, gourmet kitchen, dining area, and den allow for togetherness as well as ample space to spread out. French doors open to the back deck. The master bedroom and private bath are on the main floor and overlook the ocean. Upstairs are three more spacious bedrooms. Additional unfinished space is offered in the walk-out basement. Walkable beach is perfect for kayaking and tidepooling. This property is a premier property both in terms of home and setting. 2 bicycles are available for guests' use. Sunday - Sunday rental.

Peaceful Retreat
Beautiful! The house is so tastefully decorated. The beautiful windows provide magnificent views of the Maine coast, with its many islands and mountains. The house is spacious and comfortable, and has everything to make your stay enjoyable!

Beautiful, upscale house on spectacular rocky Maine shore
Cottage on the Shore delivers everything it promises. It's spacious, airy, beautifully decorated, and super comfortable. The house is off a gravel road and down a wooded drive to the shore with no other neighbors in view. From the two story wall of windows in the main sitting area that look out on the ocean, to the first floor master bed/bath, to the comfy upstairs bedrooms, to the extemely well outfitted kitchen, to the roomy deck------you really can't ask for more from a vacation house. Our family (my husband, our two adult children and myself) enjoyed every minute there. We rented a kayak for the week from the property manager Nichole at Downeast Rentals and they delivered it right to the house--- and picked it up as well. We kayaked from our shore and spent happy hours on rocky shore walks---including walking to the little island that you can get to only at low tide. As for the general area, there are some good, easy hikes with great views right on Deer Isle and some fun local outings (the Friday farmer's market, Nervous Nellie's, Owl Furniture, to name a few). Acadia & Bar Harbor are about an hour & fifteen minutes away. The only (minor) caveat is about the limited food options nearby. We found only a few good restaurant choices right on Deer Isle and the nearest nice supermarket is a half hour away in Blue Hill. But the isolation (especially in Covid), the gorgeous scenery, the terrific house with the splendid view of the ocean, sky, sunsets, and stars, are just what we were looking for.

A Most Pleasant Experience
A week's stay at the Cottage on the Shore on Deer Isle Maine proved to be a most pleasantly excellent experiences we have had on the island of Deer Isle over the last ten years. The cottage, which we referred to as the "mansion", is expansive, airy, full of natural outdoor light, and exceptionally comfortable. It has state of the art facilities-kitchen, baths, laundry room, fully equipped with high tech appliances. All eight of our guests had a difficult time departing from the cottage and vowed that they would return for another stay. It's an experience that everyone and anyone would fully enjoy.
