Welcome to the Beachside Bungalow~~~an ideal place for relaxation, rejuvenation and romance.
This very comfortable, artsy studio apartment is super clean and whimsically creative in a laid-back island style, with many little touches that will make you feel right at home.
It is located on a beautiful, gated property, on the ground floor of our large extended home. The studio has its own separate entrance and is very private from the rest of the house.
There is a front entrance lanai leading you into the studio, and a very private backyard lanai, a great spot for romantic evenings sitting outside listening to the sounds of the surf, or sipping your coffee while the sun rises in the morning.
A comfortable loveseat and papasan face the charming garden pond, complete with our resident fish. The waterfall makes a soothing sound, combining with the musical wind chimes and the sound of the surf.
A perfect interlude from life’s hectic pace.
The studio has a very comfortable queen size bed, with high quality sheets and a beautiful Hawaiian quilt. There is a tropical style ceiling fan and also a stand up fan. The apartment faces towards the ocean, and gets wonderful trade winds passing through, keeping the space cool and comfortable.
There is a small bathroom with a seashell decorated toilet and a handcrafted talavera sink. A separate room houses the extra large shower.
The kitchenette has a full size refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, rice cooker, coffee maker and electric griddle, as well as dishes and kitchen utensils.
We also offer WiFi.
At the front of the property there's a beautiful outdoor beach shower , adorned with amazing turquoise flowers. They're so beautiful and unusual guests can't believe they're real!!
A two minute walk down our little road will take you to one of the most breathtaking beaches in Hawaii. Sunrise is spectacular!
(In 2001 National Geographic named it one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!)
To make your days at the beach even better, we offer the complimentary use of beach chairs & mats, towels, boogie boards, coolers and a sun umbrella.
The location is ideal, a residential country setting nestled between the turquoise ocean on one side and the spectacular Ko'olau mountains on the other.
Go to sleep at night to the sound of the waves and the sweet waterfall right outside your bedroom window. Wake in the morning to the songs of the many birds who call this home.

As I reflect on arriving at our Bungalow, it's always a good sign when my wife Tami and I would say "Wow" a lot! We were tired of the all-inclusive vacations and wanted to try a more private get-a-way vacation. This bungalow met and exceeded what we were looking for! We couldn't believe how quiet the beautiful beach was overall. There was usually just a handful of people. We enjoyed how it was decorated and enjoyed many hours by our outside courtyard and fountain. We named the two goldfish after our grand babies...Jane & Evan! The property was clean, well maintained and the value was excellent! Skye was an exceptional host with such a gift of hospitality! Thank you so much for the use of beach chairs, cooler, snorkel gear and grill! Also, thank you for taking our wedding vow renewal pictures which you randomly offered and suggested doing. That was such a gift to us! We hope to be back someday!

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful time at Skye's place. From the second we got there, she was a perfect host. The full size fridge, excellent water pressure and thoughtful additions like a drying rack made it feel more like home. We especially enjoyed the use of the Tommy Bahama backpack beach chairs and the cooler. The proximity to the ocean is unmatched for the value! We've never returned to a VRBO rental before, but can't wait to get back to this one.
We were looking for a quiet and private space near the beach. We found it at this bungalow. Some separate areas in the small house including a liane with a little pond. Lots of lush greenery. We walked to the beach nearly every morning to see the sunrise. It took about 2 minutes and we were in the sand surrounded by amazing views. Water was warm. Easy access to roads leading to other island wonders. We hope to return.
This place is wondetful! It was clean, quiet and super close and accessible to the beach. The property is equipped with a bunch of beach necessities. Can't wait to go back!!
What a perfect spot! We'd been to Waikiki before, and tired of the crowds and craziness fairly quickly on that trip. We drove up the coast and looked around. We knew that the next time we came back, we wanted to be on Waimanalo Beach. Skye's place is literally 150 steps (on my fitbit) from the short trail to the perfect, empty beach.
Skye met us and couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. The place is just as pictured. Very clean and comfortable, with everything you would need. There are several very casual places nearby to eat - perfect for walking down the beach to grab lunch in between sun/surf sessions. Good, easily portable beach chairs are provided as well as a cooler and beach towels. You can literally show up here with your swimsuit and some cash or a credit card for food and drinks, and need nothing else! There is even a coin operated washer and dryer on the property, so if you have laundry to do, you can plop a load in, go to the beach, and it's a 2 minute walk back to take a bathroom break, change the laundry, perhaps refresh your drink... and you're back to the beach in no time!
If you are looking for more upscale dining options but don't want to drive back to Honolulu, Kailua is about 15 minutes away with lots of great choices. And, once you take a look at Kailua beach and its crowds and traffic, you'll be happy to trade the drive to dinner for the perfect beach right outside your door.
While we wouldn't change a thing, we only have one caveat to consider. It's not unique to Skye's cottage, but applies to the majority of privately owned places on the islands: there is no air conditioning. Now, for 90% of the time year round, I have no doubt that the very good and high powered fans, plus the proximity to the beach and the ocean breezes that flow through the home would cool everything down just fine, but it was unseasonably hot and extremely humid while we were there (high 80s/low 90s in late August) and it didn't cool down in the evenings quite as much as we'd have liked. Of course, we are from Texas and are used to super AC nearly everywhere, so if you aren't used to or don't care for air conditioning, you won't even notice.
Having said that, the tradeoff of PERFECT location, PERFECT beach, and delightful (but completely unobtrusive) hostess is an easy one to make and one we would make again. I'm sure that for the vast majority of the days, the breeze and fans are more than adequate for comfort. We'll be back!
We had a very relaxing stay and the quaint homely cottage close to the best beach in the world. Great restaurants within 5 minutes drive with affordable prices and authentic Hawaiian hospitality and food. One small concern was that the first night we went to bed we noticed the well worn sheets had a stain on them. We were happy to overlook the minor issues, as we were in paradise, but when we arrived back home we were advised that we were being charged a tidy sum to replace them. Whilst this was refunded after we explained what occurred, it was a disappointing closure to the holiday. It's the small things that can make a difference. It hasn't put us off Waimanalo though, and we would go back in flash!
Lots of great hiking around here, ranging from beginner level to advanced.
Check out the views from the Makapu'u Lighthouse~~~in the winter you can usually see whales playing~~~on a clear day you can see the outer Hawaiian islands.
Hike through a rain forest to the waterfalls at Maunwilla.
Some of the best snorkeling on the island can be found at Hanauma Bay, which is just a six minute drive down the road from us. It's a gorgeous reef full of abundant life!
Sea Life Park is just across the street from Hanauma Bay.
There are also good horseback riding options, and pony rides for the little ones. Many equestrian events take place at the Polo Fields, less than a mile down the road.
There are all kind of ocean sports, from fishing to paddling, kayaking, kite surfing, paddle boarding and surfing.
Or try out something a little different, like paragliding and sky diving!
