This newly redecorated home sits perched high on a hill in the Highlands of Desert Hot Springs, also known as Spa City. Desert Hot Springs boasts dozens of natural hot and cold mineral spas that are world renowned for their therapeutic effects (i.e. Two Bunch Palms, Miracle Springs, Desert Hot Springs Spa). The natural springs also provide the "World's Best Drinking Water", an honor bestowed on the local water district many times in recent years. The award winning water runs through all of the taps and showers of our home.

The location offers convenient access to all of the desert cities via I-10 and is only 13 miles from the center of Palm Springs. Coachella and Stagecoach festivals are only 29 miles away, and the LPGA tournament at Mission Hills is a mere 14 miles away. Joshua Tree National Park borders the neighborhood, and the drive in park entrance can be reached in 45 minutes.

This private whole-home rental accommodates up to 8 people. The large master king room in attached to a generous master bath with dual vanities, full tub and shower, a private water closet and a spacious walk in closet. A sitting desk in the master is a convenient place to set up your laptop to take advantage of the free wifi.

Two more private guest rooms offer queen sized beds and share the newly refreshed hall bath with full tub/ shower and a single vanity. Restful color schemes enhance the peaceful atmosphere of the comfortable rooms.

Vaulted ceilings top an open floor plan that encompasses a convenient galley style kitchen, living room and dining area. The breakfast nook window overlooks the flowering front patio which often attracts hummingbirds. It is a beautiful place to start a morning with a cup of coffee brewed in the Keurig. A step out on the front patio offers wonderful morning views of the valley and Mt. San Jacinto.

On the other side of the kitchen, the bar overlooks the dining and living areas. This design allows the cook to be part of the festivities and offers easy serving. The entertainment center boasts a 50" flat screen TV and the flow of the space offers both convenient entertainment and conversation opportunities.

The entire living and cooking space is expanded by the attached patio complete with gas grill. Desert stargazing can be enjoyed while sitting around the fire pit. The edges of Joshua Tree National Park line the neighborhood so there is very little light pollution. Sunrise over the Little San Bernardino Mountains is vibrant and colorful. Hiking trails in the neighborhood offer unparalleled views of the entire Coachella Valley. The nighttime views of the city lights are spectacular. It is a very short hike and well worth the experience.

Parking is free. A keypad access to the garage offers parking for one car and there is free on-street and off-street parking as well. Calle Descanso is only one block long and is travelled primarily by the people who live there, so there is virtually no traffic noise.

"Descanso" means peaceful, or restful. It is an apt name for this private retreat. We hope you will feel rejuvenated by the serenity of this refreshed and refurbished home.

Diana's love for interior decorating flows through the rooms with fresh colors, convenient amenities and comfortable features that help you feel right at home, down to such details as a special treat for that late-night snack. You'll see Matt's creativity as a writer and producer in some original artwork and in providing the fun little custom-made putting green. Having launched two children into adulthood (with a third close behind), they have looked forward to this time of using their freedom and talents to provide you with a private place to rest and relax.

Diana's professional background spans business development, real estate and education while Matt's includes marketing, copywriting, producing and business startups.

We chose to buy a house in the "Spa Zone" of Desert Hot Springs for the convenience of using the natural hot mineral springs whenever we like. Now, we have made the house into a retreat so that you can do the same! There are myriad hot springs in the area, all with their own unique characteristics. Try as many as you like and come home to relax in a restful atmosphere.

Our house is cozy and comfortable and feels like a home away from home. We have made a great effort to provide a clean and uncluttered space that takes care of itself. We love to know who will be staying so that we can customize our little touches that make your stay special.

This house was awesome!

This house was just perfect for our family of four! This isn't like staying in a typical rental, it is well decorated and all the extras you might want are there--coffee and farm-fresh eggs for breakfast, chocolates for when you need something sweet, comfy beds, and a great outdoor seating area with a fire pit. It has beautiful views of the sunset in the evening. It's a quiet neighborhood up on the hill, but everything you need is a short drive away. We loved it!

Myself and a colleague checked in to this wonderful home, it had absolutely everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Wonderful beds, ample room and was so invitingly decorated, clean and really room to spread out and not be in each other's way as we prepared for our training the next day. At night the wind, starts and great view were an added plus. We had everything we needed and it was quick and easy, thanks.

Our quiet community is host to dozens of boutique spas, as well as easily accessible day spas, to rejuvenate and relax those who seek these healing waters.

The city is located on the west end of the Coachella Valley in what is referred to as a positive energy vortex, where five natural energies converge (sun, wind, alignment of mountain peaks of the Little San Bernardino range, earthquake fault, and geothermal underground lake).

Pilgrimages by ancient and native peoples to positive energy vortexes are believed to be made for their physical and spiritual healing properties. The hot springs in DHS are pure and clean right out of the ground. There is no sulfuric smell and the waters reach temperatures of up to 150 degrees. Many spas have elaborate systems which cool the waters to fill their pools.
