About Susan or Dave Donaldson

Dave and I bought this cabin strictly for a get away. We retired and loved the area so much we ended up relocating here permanently. We built a home right next door to the cabin we now have for rent.

Susan or Dave Donaldson purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Susan or Dave Donaldson chose Asheville Area

We lived in New Orleans for 28 years and decided to find a small get a way from the summer heat, hurricane season and to view the fall foliage. We looked in North Carolina and decided on a subdivision which offers us a gated community for security especially when we were 600 miles away from the property.

What makes this cabin unique

You would not have to leave the area except for grocery shopping. We have hiking, waterfalls, fishing, swimming, clubhouse, golf course, tennis, pickleball, playground, small beach at one of the parks on the lake, boating, picnicking etc.

Very Comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice and the setting was wonderful. Well equipped and a wonderful decor. The BBQ grill did not work and would have loved to have plugs for the tubs so we could have used the salts that were available.

Owner's Response: Wish you would have called us. We just changed out the propane in the grill and started it before you arrived and the tub doesn't need stoppers since you just flip up the lever. It may look like you need a plug but this is how those tubs work. Sorry, Susan

Awesome time!!

  • 5 of 5

I will start by saying our family had the time of our lives, Even our puppy thought he was in heaven. We really got what we wanted,. We were on relax mode since we got to Donaldson's place. Susan answered every single email, and text in matter of minutes. She really made sure we enjoyed our stay there. House was clean, and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine ( very nice ) The cabin honestly makes you forget about everything you left back home. I will recommend this place to some friends, and we might come back in the summer time in the near future. Thanks again Susan.

Perfect family retreat

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a family thanksgiving trip. The set up was great and Susan was very accommodating to our needs/requests. She was also very communicative during our stay with any concerns or questions we had regarding the property. The surrounding area had plenty to see and do and I would definitely recommend the property to family and friends. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

Susan and Dave truly have the gift of hospitality and their cabin in the mountains meets every requirement for a memorable trip. Plenty of space, a deck that makes you feel like you're in a treehouse, a stone fireplace that is cozy beyond belief and everything you need in the kitchen for great meals - just pack your clothes and show up, the Donaldsons have thought of everything. Anything and everything you want to do in the mountains is within an easy drive or just soak in the peaceful quiet and views and plan your next visit like my family did.

Great Community and awesome views

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was outstanding we could not have picked a better place. Susan and Dave we most accommodating and was right there if anything was needed. The bottle of wine when arriving was a nice touch. The community was a great private trail to Connestee Falls which was a great hike within the community. This is a must if your in the area. Lots of Deer making there way down to the lakes everyday. The large porch was awesome to sit and have dinner ever night we truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to anyone. Very quiet and location is great for anything in the area. We spent a lot of time in the Pisgah and DuPont State Forests. Brevard is a great town to grab supplies during your stay but also there is a lot of small local places as well. You won't go wrong. Plan a stay. We will be back.

Excellent; will reserve again!

  • 5 of 5

I live locally and needed a place for my 86 year old mother who was visiting from Florida. The house is super cute and very clean, the back deck is incredible, and the owners are awesome! My mother was easily able to navigate the few steps up to the front of the house and felt very comfortable staying in the house by herself. With two bedrooms and spacious living and dining areas, it can certainly accommodate more people. My mother was also thrilled to see deer in the front yard. The neighborhood is gated, yet casual and friendly, with amazing amenities and surrounded by nature. The drive to the shops and restaurants in downtown Brevard is enjoyable and not too far. Also nearby is the Pisgah National Forest, and DuPont State Park is even closer and highly recommended. I will definitely reserve this house again for my my family and friends.
