The redhead next to me is my wife Ana. We have 2 daughters who are grown and are on their own ( not really, if you are a parent you know) and a 14 pound Schnoodle ( he thinks he is a giant). We have been living in the DC metro area for about 36 years and absolutely love it. Washington DC is a beautiful city, it really is and for people coming here to spend their vacations or attend conferences, weddings, funerals (The Arlington Cemetery), graduations, sight seeing, festivals etc. etc. there isn't any city that offers so much. I manage the properties and Ana tells me what to do (!!!) We are a great team and enjoy doing what we do.
Allen purchased this apartment in 2012
This is a one bedroom basement apartment with all the amenities.
Being in walking distance of the DC Convention Center
Some colleagues and I were in town for a conference and rented this unit, as well as a larger unit in the same building owned by the same host. Both rentals were very comfortable and clean. We were close enough to everything to get around easily, but in a fairly quiet neighborhood. It was only a 10-15 minute walk to the conference center and a 5 minute walk from good restaurants and shopping. Would definitely rent the larger unit again. The smaller unit is great for two people on a budget, but would be a bit cramped for more than two people and is not as nice as the larger unit.
This English Basement apartment was exactly as pictured and described. It was clean, bright, very comfortable and close to two Metro stations and a bus stop was directly outside the building. Allen was great to work with, prompt in all his responses. Our week went really well and our stay in this apartment was a big part of this.
One last thing. We were in DC during Inaugural week. We booked this in November. Unlike another landlord we dealt with first, Allen DID NOT increase the room rate after initial contact for rental once the week was recognized as Inaugural week. We definitely won't be dealing with that other person, while Allen was honorable and stayed with the advertised rental prices. Thanks Allen, we had a great time in your apartment!
This basement apartment was certainly a good value for the money. It was pretty spacious, especially the living area and bedroom. The bathroom was a bit cramped with very low ceilings.
We totally enjoyed our stay. Everything as advertised. Uber to many historic locations and museums as low as $3.00. Nice yard to sit out in the evenings. We were happy to have a nice visit with Allan the last evening of our visit. Always nice to touch base with the property owner. Apartment was clean (important). We would recommend this place for sure.
What you would expect in an inexpensive basement apartment. Convenient to everything I wanted. Quiet neighborhood, except during the weekends. You can hear the people walking above but that is typical of basements in older buildings. The owner is very responsive, which is always a great plus.
Very nice property for the money. Bus runs right by house on 4th st. and easy commute. Alan the owner is a joy to work with. Man of his word. Hate the sirens of the area but that's just DC. Would like to come back for the cherry blossom festival but this time my granddaughter had a summer class at Gallaudet University. (She teaches signing at her school on a volunteer basis.) 10 minute commute to the school by car unless there is a traffic jam.
