We are originally from Kirkland, Washington, but now reside in Phoenix, Arizona with our five children. Our family enjoys traveling, especially between Arizona to Washington.
Michael & Paula purchased this cottage in 2007
We love this little cottage apartment. We especially love to walk to Starbucks in the morning, grab a latte and walk our dogs to Juanita Beach.
The cottage lacked curb appeal but was nicely decorated inside for a beachy feel. It was great for walking to stores, restaurants and Juanita Beach Park. It had a great tv and washer and dryer. The stove was old and runs hotter than temperature indicated which I found out by burning a batch of cookies. Parking was tight and best for compact cars and we did battle sap dripping from overhanging branches onto the car. We were there during a heatwave and the house did get warm but cooled off nicely at night with open windows and fans. We had a comfortable stay.
My wife and I stayed almost two weeks and had a great time! Nice to have a washer and dryer there in our cabin and the bed was very comfortable. Not far from Zetron and a lot better than staying at a hotel.
This was indeed a cozy cottage by Lake Washington, and for the price, it was an amazing bargain in the Seattle area. The neighborhood is great, two beautiful parks, lots of restaurants and a Walgreens just down the block. Every evening we took a wonderful walk along the lake, and on the Fourth of July we watched multiple firework displays from the walkway over the water, which was a magical experience. I-405 is just a few miles away, and Seattle and the airport are only 25 minutes in most traffic.
The only real downside for us to this cottage was no outdoor space for entertaining our friends and eating outside. Indoors was little too cozy for a dinner party, but perfect for the two of us. One of the neighbors was a chain smoker on her front porch, so when she was at home we kept the windows on that side closed. She also has a loud motorcycle that woke us most mornings. Otherwise, nice and quiet. This is a small community of four old cottages and a house, but at least this cottage has been nicely redone.
The owners have taken care of covering the windows in the bedrooms, so in spite of the early morning sunlight we were able to sleep in (remember to keep bathroom door closed too, to block the light.). The bathtub and bed were comfortable, the water pressure good, wifi was good, everything was clean and worked. The futon couch was not the most comfortable, but with lots of pillows, we made it work. Overall, a good stay. Might be a bit rustic for some people, but the pictures are realistic. Owners were very easy to work with and the price was right.
This little "bungalow" as we called it, is in a great location,, and had everything we needed. We walked to Juanita beach, the walking trails, and to coffee shops; couldn't get enough of Urban Coffee and their Almond Croissants! We observed an eagle in a tree near the lake from the living room window, and eventually took a walk down for a closer look...majestic!
A few suggestions or FYI's for those staying in the future. We stayed the beginning of March, and the bathroom marble floor was lovely, but cold! We put towels down on the floor, and moved the electric heater when we took showers; a throw rug would be nice. The parking lot and street lights are bright; we had to put a blanket over the lg window in the bedroom, and a bathmat over the small window to block the light for sleep. This worked fine for us, we're not fussy, but a simple tension rod on the small window w/ a curtain would simplify trying to get a bathmat to stay in the casing, and heavier room darkening curtains on the lg rod would have been nice. We could hear the neighbors coming and going, not sure how it would be in the summer with all the windows open, or if there were renters in the apt below.
Overall we enjoyed our stay very much, and stay here again.
Great location near lake, shopping, dining, and access to the 405. Quiet little spot and had everything we needed in the cottage. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The Cottage was exactly like the pictures and description.
We were very comfortable and it felt like home!
Even had a hummingbird feeder on the porch where we watched the hummingbird come every morning.
