About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

The Duck Lake Cabin was built over a few years starting in 2006 using the latest in building techniques with the intent of having a warm, comfortable place in all kinds of weather. My wife and I have fished, hiked and biked all around the area for over 25 years and have come to love the area and all the amazing things to do here. We started out buying a small cabin in the 80s and found out that we needed to build something bigger since a lot of friends were showing up. The Duck Lake Cabin has two bedrooms both equipped with Queen -size beds and a full bath upstairs. The modern gas fireplace casts a warmth around the upstairs. The living room is a open floor plan with a giant dining table adjoining the fully operational kitchen. Downstairs has a gas fireplace also with two full beds, large shower,sauna-steam room washer-dryer and garage. We are just minutes from the east side GNP entrances, Many Glacier and St. Mary's.

What makes this house unique

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our North Carolina "Hardy Hikers" stayed ten days at Lew and Sheryl's Duck Lake cabin. Our group of seven found the accommodations more than adequate. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and dinnerware for preparing meals, the furnishing are very comfortable and the sleeping is perfect for up to eight.

East entrance to Glacier National Park is easily accessed from the cabin.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend any group of up to eight staying at Duck Lake.

Wonderful house at a wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for a better place to enjoy our Montana vacation. The house was very comfortable with a great floorplan for the 5 of us (grandparents on main level, with daughter and son-in-law and 6 year old grandson on lower level). I loved sitting on the back deck enjoying the amazing view and the equally amazing quiet. One night I went outside in the early morning to see the Milky Way and was treated to two shooting stars. The house was stocked with everything we needed and was spotlessly clean.

Our objective was hiking at Glacier National Park. The location of the house gave us easy access to the St Mary area and Many Glacier. We would definitely stay at this house again! (I wish that I could stay there for at least a month.)

Great Location / Great House

  • 5 of 5

Conveniently located to both the Many Glacier and St Mary's entrance on the East side. We also were able to drive up to Waterton and down to Two Medicine within an hour +/- for each.

The house has stunning views of Chief Mountain in Glacier, an outdoor shower, several bedrooms, outdoor grill and anything you could want in a kitchen. Even though the main floor would get warm in the late summer afternoons, it would cool off quickly as the sun fell.

Amazing place to base all your Glacier Park activities - a top notch rental!! Thanks for the memories :)

Great Montana vacation

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location and accommodations for our Glacier vacation. We stayed 8 days and everything was as advertised, beautiful sunsets from the back porch, very clean, neat and comfortable beds.

Great location for exploring the eastern side of the park and only 40 miles from Waterton in Canada. Enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely stay here again.

Best Location to Visit Glacier National Park

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this home. It worked out perfectly for our family of 5, which included 3 teenagers, and my parents. The space was comfortable for the 7 of us. The view was amazing! It was the favorite part of our stay. The cabin was decorated quite nicely and was very clean. We did a lot of cooking in the cabin. For the most part, we were able to find everything we needed in the kitchen and when we didn't we improvised! Ha! This was our first time in GNP and we found the location perfect. The owners, Lew and Cheryl, are very nice people and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend their home and would stay here again.

Owner's Response: Yes we really do think it is the most amazing view just about anywhere! Looking right at Chief Mountain and the Rocky Mtn. Front. We do like to think we have a well equipped kitchen, I will add a few loaf pans now at your request! It was nice to meet you folks, so glad you had a great trip.

Great place to stay for two to eight people

  • 4 of 5

This luxurious cabin is ideally positioned almost equidistant between two entrances to Glacier National Park: St. Mary's to the south (~15 minutes) and Many Glacier to the north (~20-30 mins). (This is much different from staying in Whitefish and driving ~45 mins to the park entrance and another 20mins to trail heads or more.) The proximity of the cabin to GNP allowed us plenty of time to go hiking (the six of us hiked every day). On the one rainy day, the cabin is close to Browning, enabling a trip to the Indian Museum there before going to the Two Medicine entrance to GNP.

We were impressed by the amenities provided throughout the cabin: a fully stocked kitchen with all utensils and appliances - even a rice cooker, the furniture (including the beds) was comfortable and in good shape. There were plenty of towels. Windows all had blinds. The cabin is surrounded by a deck with a roof overhang on the back making a porch there - ideal for sitting to watch the sun set over GNP.

One surprise was that there are trailers in lots leading up to the cabin that provide a rather surprising view from the kitchen area. However, we soon became accustomed to the neighborhood - the cabin itself and other views more than made up for this incongruous setting.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin. It really is a perfect spot to access the east side of GNP, and get to the hiking spots early in the day, without having to be in a car so long! The community of Duck Lake was initially settled in the fifties by trout fisherman. They built an array of cabins, houses, and had trailers hauled in and everything in-between. The community is now under going a period of transition with new places being built by local residents and hiking and fishing folks. There are a few trailers left in places throughout the area. The spirt of Duck Lake will probably weather anything the future will bring. Thanks for staying with us.

We couldn't have asked for anything better for our annual family reunion! The view from the back deck was amazing, and the sauna was perfect after a long day of hiking.

Our beautiful cabin was built in 2006 by Lew ,Cheryl and friends. It was originally built to access the amazing fishing that is known around the world for its trophy trout. As time went on we began to realize all the other things that make this place so special. Hiking in Glacier Park is world renown and the wildlife viewing from the decks and in the park is unforgettable. Spending time indoors and outside in this area is truly unforgettable. One of our favorite past times after a day of fishing, hiking or biking is watching the magnificent sunsets from our covered decks.
