Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday chalet in Murphy - River Run Trout Chalet

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Riverfront Chalet

Fish and relax just feet from the Nottely River! One of a kind riverfront property located on the beautiful Nottely River and next to a 25 acre meadow. The new Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is just a 20 minute drive - but a world away! Enjoy the wild turkey, deer, and abundant wild life, or go trout fishing just feet from the chalet. Relax on the covered porch or the riverside gazebo as you listen to the rapids from the fish trap that was made by the indigenous Indians in times gone by. True end of the road privacy!

For the kids, the Trout Chalet has Ping Pong, air hockey, vintage Xbox and Wii. Everybody is happy!

The property includes two 1,200 sq. ft. chalets and is located just 15 minutes from Murphy NC and Blairsville GA. Antique shops and flea markets are just minutes away. Rent one or both chalets for the perfect getaway! Combined, the two chalets sleep 10. The Tranquil Chalet sleeps 6 and the Trout Chalet sleeps 4. This listing is for the Trout Chalet.

Our family spent years camping. We always hoped to get one of the camp sites next to the creek at Vogel State Park so we could relax to the sounds of the rushing water. That rarely happened…

As my wife and I grew older, we got tired of the walk to the communal bathroom, lousy showers, lack of privacy, and the not so great sleep in the camper. As our kids grew older, the allure of sleeping in a tent with no WiFi faded so we set out in search of the next best thing that allows us to enjoy all of the outdoor benefits of camping, but with all the comforts of home. We found it at River Run!

We chose this property because it is very unique and incredibly relaxing. The property is located at the end of a mile long dirt road on a level 1 acre fenced lot. You can rent one or both chalets depending on your needs. The covered wrap-around metal roofed porches are just feet from the Nottely River. You can fish, hike, go antiquing, sit by the fire and listen to the river, BBQ on the outdoor grill, watch the cows graze across the river, or just sit on the porch in the rockers and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Nottely River.

The two chalets offer something for all members of the family to enjoy while on vacation:

• Husband can trout fish while the wife goes antiquing. The best of both worlds!

• Rent both chalets and give your teenagers the privacy they want and the privacy you desire.

• Ideal for two families to vacation together and still give each other privacy.

• Ideal for a family reunion.

• Do the adults want to sleep in a real bed and take a shower in a real bathroom but the kids want to camp? We have tents and sleeping bags for the kids so they can sleep in the great outdoors next to the fire. Kind of like camping but much better for the adults!

• Kayak or tube down the Nottely River. The property is 2.5 miles downstream from Nottely dam. You can get into the river at the base of the dam.

• Rent a pontoon boat on nearby Lake Nottely.

The fish themed Trout Chalet is designed to be giant game room with beds. It includes WiFi, vintage Xbox, Wii, Ping Pong, and air hockey. Got a moody teenager with friends who want their privacy? Or wants to play their music too loud? Or wants to watch something different on TV? No problem! The Trout Chalet is the perfect kid’s getaway while you enjoy the peace and relaxation of the Tranquil Chalet. They are happy and you are happy! Perfect!

The Tranquil Chalet is more refined and is ideal for those looking for a more relaxed experience with just the adults in mind, but the kids are welcome! They just won’t have as much fun as staying in the Trout Chalet…

Trout Chalet (Green Metal Roof)

• The Trout Chalet is fish themed and designed like a giant game room with beds. It includes Wii, Ping Pong, and an air hockey table.

• Sleeps 4

• 2 Bedrooms, 2 full baths

• Rock fireplace

• Fully stocked kitchen

• Porch rockers

• Wrap around covered front porch. Porch is 50 feet from Nottely River.

Property includes:

• WiFi

• Gazebo with dining table on the river.

Why Kevin & Barbara Hanville chose Murphy / Andrews Area

We chose this property because it is very unique and you will not find another like it to rent. The two chalets allows for all to enjoy the family vacation. The Trout House is designed like a giant game room with beds. It includes WiFi, Wii, Ping Pong, and air hockey. Got a moody teenager with friends who want their privacy? Or want to play their music to loud? Or want to watch something different on TV? No problem! The Trout House is the perfect kid’s getaway while you enjoy the peace and relaxation of the Country House. They are happy and you are happy! Perfect!

Guestbook comments from the owner

My daughter just got engaged over the weekend in this beautiful location. Both families stayed in the two very spacious cabins. The gazebo overlooking the Nottely River was the perfect location for the surprise proposal. Even though it rained the entire weekend, the cabins have covered porches so we were still able to enjoy the outdoors and the tin roofs added to the charm. Kevin and Barbara have done such a wonderful job with these two cabins.....they lack for nothing. The kids enjoyed playing air hockey and ping pong and fishing from the gazebo. The fenced in yard is very spacious and situated in such a way that the kids could enjoy the outdoors while being watched by the adults who were able to sit under the porch and gazebo in comfort. My favorite part (outside of my daughter getting engaged) was waking up early on Sunday morning, sitting in the still of the day on the gazebo drinking my coffee and watching two coyotes play in the field across the river......I could get used to that!

BEAUTIFUL GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5

The outdoor setting by the stream is beautiful and remote.

The 2 Chalets share a common area (fire pit and grille and gazebo overlooking the Creek).

Would be an ideal site for family vacations .The Chalets are like new, well furnished sparkling clean and very thoughtfully decorated and equipped. Was an easy drive to the smokey mountain attractions. We spent a day in Bryson City where we enjoyed the steam railroad tour .

Great place for a quick get-away!

  • 4 of 5

Chalet was very clean and welcoming. Bracket for the ping pong table is missing, so couldn't put the net up. Porch was very nice and rockers a nice touch! Would be better if each chalet had a grill of its own, but we didn't have any problem sharing with our neighbors. They were very nice and asked us when we would be cooking, etc. Kitchen had all of the appliances, cookware, etc. that we needed. Even had storage containers for leftovers which I thought was great! Fire pit was large and had nice chairs around it. Overall a wonderful stay!

Beautiful and clean!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, VERY clean and relaxing! Exactly what the website and pictures promised. Kevin was always available to offer answers and information even before we made reservation. It's a little secluded but exactly what we wanted for a short long weekend. We would love to go again with more family and friends. We believe would have enjoyed the fire pit a little more if weather would have been a little cooler. The river is nice and view gorgeous. Only thing the shower/sink water would release a smell since its well water?

We went out for brunch and dessert in Blairsville the first day and then, apple picking and more brunch the second day in Blue Ridge. The rest of the time, we enjoyed the views and weather at the property. The kitchen, and really the whole house, has everything we needed! My husband and son enjoyed fishing -or at least they enjoyed trying because they didn't catch anything :) Lovely weekend!

A beautiful peaceful paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This place was exactly what we were looking for. It is right on the water. When the dam is closed, it is like playing in the creek. We have a three and four year old, and this was perfect for them. When the dam is open, it is a river. The place was well stocked with everything one would need except for food. It was very clean. The owner was very easy to contact and always got back with me quickly. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
