Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cabin in Highland Mills - Cornwall Cabin

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6 (4 adults and 2 kids max)

Completely secluded cabin in the woods on 5 acres of land surrounded by a nature preserve. Walk out the door to hiking trails, waterfall, cross-country skiing (weather permitting).

A nature-lovers paradise in every season. Deer are spotted regularly and occasionally one may hear of a bear sighting. Plus there is a Fox den just around the bend.

Down the road from Museum of the Hudson Highlands and Jones Farm.

Art lovers are minutes from Storm King Art Center and a short drive from DIA Beacon.

A vacation paradise in every season.

Commutable to NYC by train to Hoboken or Express bus to Port Authority.

Owner Profile: This is our third year renting out our cabin. We've enjoyed it tremendously over the past 20 years but our schedules are making it difficult to make it up every weekend as we use to.

We hope you get as much enjoyment out of this special place as we have over the years.

I chose this location because of the outstanding beauty and seclusion of the property. The close proximity to NYC was a fabulous addition to this charming getaway.

You will not believe that a house so situated close to NYC can possibly be this secluded and beautiful.

The mile long dirt road bordering a nature preserve makes you feel like you are vacationing miles from civilization.

The beauty of this property is that you feel cut off but you are not. If you so desire there are restaurants, movie theaters, transportation to the city and the Hudson River all within a 15 minute drive.

The Storm King Art Center is just down the road.

Hiking just out the front door and cross country skiing during the snowy winter months.

A stroll down the wooded dirt road is a perfect way to start and/or end your day.

Enjoy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to Thank You so much for renting us your lovely cabin in the woods. What a magical place. We were lucky enough to be able to stay there at Christmas this past year and the cabin and grounds couldn't have been nicer. The Christmas tree, fireplace and the building were all covered in lights and beautifully decorated. We spent many evenings either next to the great fireplace or out on the deck watching the sun set behind the pines.

The cabin had everything we needed so we took advantage of the kitchen and prepared some lovely meals at home.

The bedrooms were clean and neat and we slept like babies.

Needless to say we were totally relaxed and our 3 day stay ended way too soon.

We well be back as soon as we can.

Thanks again

Perfect family time

  • 5 of 5

The cabin and its location are perfect! Isolated enough to enjoy a calm setting in the woods but close to a lot of activities for everybody (in our case, with 2 young children). From the beautiful waterfall (very close) to Storm King to John's farm where you can enjoy treats and animal petting, it was great.

The cabin itself is a great mix of a older time place mix with a modern set up (wifi,...).

If you have a car, shopping is also pretty close.

In addition, big thanks to the owners to make everything easy and clear. Very helpful!

In short, a highly recommended place.

Cozy house and amazing outdoors!

  • 5 of 5

We visited with a 10 month old baby and the experience was ineradicable! Allyson and Tammy made it very easy for us to plan the trip since they gave us tons of information about the area. In the house everything is well organized and perfect for a family with kids.

Highly recommended!

A charming log cabin

  • 4 of 5

The log cabin was perfectly fine for our stay. We spent most of the time on the deck and enjoyed having the wifi. There are 2 bedrooms, one of which has bunk beds, so maybe not appropriate for everyone. The galley kitchen and the bathroom are small, but adequate. We basically used the cabin to sleep, location was great for our adventures. Tammy and Allyson are good with corresponding.

Great place for quiet and seclusion in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed at this cabin over a fall weekend. The cabin is simple and beautiful and cozy in every way. It has all the creature comforts anyone is likely to need and provides true seclusion and access to a nature preserve. We are very grateful to Allyson and Tammy.

5 Stars all the way!!

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience from start to finish!! The owners are so nice and helpful. They answered any questions I had and all the information in the house was very detailed. The property is beautiful and a quick drive from NYC! The house was perfect, it had everything you could think of and everything was labeled which made it super easy to find everything. My son loved the kids room and all the toys! We loved cooking on the grill out back and enjoying our morning coffee in the chairs or hammocks on the property! It is a quick drive to the supermarket which is always a plus! I couldn't recommend this place enough. Everything about it was so beautiful and peaceful! Will definitely be booking again!
