About (Ms.) Sigrid Tidmore

Hi, I'm Sigrid, and I've been the property manager at Delfin Villas for the last two years. I live here and manage the vacation rental program - so when you come here, you know you can always find someone to answer your questions.

My son, Sean, is the designer/developer of this community. He and his lovely wife, Dahiana, and my two grandchildren Mila & Liam also live here in the community. From here my kids run their organic farm and manage Ecuador Expats Realty, as well as their other development enterprises.

We are all committed and involved in the village of Puerto Cayo, this beautiful, tranquil community in which we live. The local people are wonderful and will greet you with a smile and a sense of congeniality that leaves you feeling like you truly belong.

Why (Ms.) Sigrid Tidmore chose Ecuador

Delfin Villas represents a high-end, relaxing, secure and comfortable option on the coast of Ecuador amidst a town of only 1,500 where everyone knows each other. Puerto Cayo is surrounded by national park and cloud forest area presenting a fantastic location that is in near-immediate proximity to essential services.

Villa 03 has been furnished with high-end appliances, furniture and kitchenware as well as heated water and all rooms feature AC. You will have all the comforts you wish at an unbeatable price and experience. Visit at the right time and you can watch the whales pass by off your balcony.

What makes this villa unique

Puerto Cayo is uniquely situated in close proximity (20 min or less) to some of the biggest tourist destinations on the Ecuadorean coast. At the same time, it maintains a relaxed island-like atmosphere that is casual and doesn't leave you feeling like you landed into party town. You can watch the whales migrate off the balcony here and if you feel like fancy dining or big city tours, it's a quick drive away. No problem if you don't have a car, we can arrange a personal driver we can help arrange or there is an excellent bus system. Enjoy it, you have locals here to help you.

CONSIDER:

- Whales migrate right off the beach, watch them jump!

- Small town so no clubs, crazy parties or other nonsense

- Shrimp and lobster can be delivered to your door daily

- Original developers live on-site as well as we manage the largest family owned and operated real estate company. We are happy to answer any and all questions you have about tourism and investment locally or elsewhere in Ecuador.

Beautiful Villa in a Developing Country

  • 4 of 5

We stayed 4 months in Cayo and overall enjoyed the property and the quaint fishing town

The PROS:

- Home is built to North American standards with high end finishes

- Ocean breeze pours through home nicely (not as much need for A/C). View is incredible

- You can hear the waves from every room

- Safety and security is 10/10! They have a 24/7 guard, a wonderful guard dog, gated and locked, very secure!

- VALUE! For the size of the house, the quality, and the proximity to the ocean, one of the BEST values in South America

- Cayo. The town is very safe to walk in (day or night), has cheap restaurants right on the beach & everyone is friendly

- Quiet! There is NO hustle bustle, just a very relaxed atmosphere. BEAUTIFUL beach all to yourself

- Immaculate, clean, the pool is great, access to the beach, just wonderful!

The CONS:

- Quite stark and empty. Bedrooms had only a bed. Top terrace had no furniture to enjoy rooftop deck with. Lack of a cozy feeling

- VERY hard beds

- INTERNET. We work from home and internet is a MUST. We would have DAYS of outages, or ‘dial up’ speed where nothing would load. Constant struggle of reporting it, having people come out, setting up a secondary account, etc. If you are reliant on Internet for your job, you NEED to get all the facts before booking. As of Dec 2015 it is not suitable, but I heard they may be installing fiberoptic.

- Power outages. We experienced 27 of them during our 4 months. The biggest issue with them in these homes is the stove is electric (no cooking) & so are the toilets/shower. Pair that with no internet and it was VERY hard to deal with. Again, check with manager as they MAY have installed generators

- DOGS. Tons of stray dogs on the road to town, in town & on the beach. Not always friendly and there were a few attacks while we were there so we started walking with sticks.

TIPS:

- Cayo really does not have any stores to buy groceries. VERY basic milk, eggs, bread, pop, chips kind of stock. You will travel to Manta or Lopez to grocery shop! Manta has a SuperMaxi that is quite nicely stocked.

- Hire JO as your driver. She is FANTASTIC and is the best tour guide/driver/friend in the area!

- You might get on better with a car. We did not and soley relied on the (very cheap) buses and Jo

- This is a great home for short or long stays for people who love peace, adventure, developing countries & priority for safety.

Sweet paradise community!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, friendly community in sweet little Puerto Cayo, Ecuador. The property itself is modern, comfortable and clean, and its location right on the beach makes it feel like paradise. The manager was so welcoming of us and made sure we had what we needed. The staff is kind, helpful and always available to help with taxis or answer questions about the property. I am so glad we stayed here. It was a quiet, safe place for our family to unwind and play. There are six houses in the villa which gives it somewhat of a neighborhood feel, although there is lots of privacy. I enjoyed meeting the other tenants. I highly recommend this property to anyone hoping for a quiet, mellow get away on the gorgeous Ecuadorian coast. Oh, and we were there in August which was a fun time to watch the whales, up close as well as from our balcony!

Great vacation in Puerto Cayo

  • 5 of 5

The villa is new and fully equiped, rooms and bathrooms are spacious

and luxurious. The property is located in a gated development with

only 6 other houses, private swimming pool and private access to the

beach.

Sigrid was a great host, provided us with all the information we

needed and made us feel welcome.

The villa is located next to the town of Puerto Cayo where there are

restaurants and shops and not far from the great beaches and towns of

Parque Nacional Machalilla with all sorts of activities (whale

watching, bird watching, trekking, horse riding, etc..). A car is

essential.

An absolute paradise on the beach.

  • 5 of 5

Sean is a wonderful host and made our Ecuador experience amazing. The house was very comfortable with air conditioning throughout. If you dream of long quiet walks on a nearly private beach with warm water lapping at your feet then this is it. Thanks for everything Sean and D.

BLOWN AWAY BY THIS AMAZING PRIVATE VILLA

  • 5 of 5

We're so lucky to have a chance to stay at this gorgeous brand new villa steps from the Pacific coast beach. This unit is extremely well appointed, complete with great appliances and high speed INTERNET (a must for my husband!). We also appreciate how tastefully furnished this home is. Owner spared no expense on comfort too, and I particularly love those nice towels and bedding. We indulged in enjoying wine on the rooftop during enchanting sunset hours too.

Wonderful to be able to enjoy Machalilla National Park (http://www.machalillanationalpark.com/machalilla_national_park.shtml) so close by, and particularly enjoyed the excellent seafood - ocean prawns, crabs and fish - we bought directly from the day boat fishermen.

Sean, who manages the property, also lives on site. He is a gracious, friendly host who gave us tips that allowed our vacation to truly exceed our expectation. Can't wait to return soon!!! It's practically like staying in a 5-star hotel. AMAZING value indeed.

A little about Puerto Cayo:

Cayo offers a small town community sense of safety and lets you be about as busy as you choose to. We have a small local grocery store, an abundant fresh produce market and numerous restaurants. Cayo does have a 24/7 medical clinic for anything typical. All in all, anything you need is offered locally. If for some reason you find something specific you need that is not available, it's a gorgeous and quick drive up the coast to Manta.
