Why Rita chose Venice city centre

Because now we live in Usa but we love to come back to our loved Venice!

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is placed exactly at the center of Venice, in the heart of the most typical part of the city . The square of San Polo (called Campo) is the largest of Venice, full of magnificent palaces and very close to the famous Rialto bridge.

Perfect location in Venice

  • 5 of 5

We - a family of four with two teenagers - had a wonderful time at the San Polo apartment. It is very large, bright, and roomy, in a terrific location overlooking the canal. The Rialto market is close by for groceries, with bakeries and a grocery store on the way. The apartment is tucked away from the campo down a series of alleys, so it is quiet even while it is in the middle of a busy neighbourhood. Can't say enough good things about this spot - we are already planning a return visit (maybe in a few years).

Our favorite part of Venice

  • 5 of 5

We came to Venice for two months with a 5-year-old grandson. After carefully researching hundreds of places, we chose this apartment because of its location in a quiet campiello just off the main tourist track, its very spacious layout, on a canal with a brilliant view of the grand canal, a pleasant kitchen with an american coffee maker, and because rita was so easy to work with.

We found it everything we wanted, and more. Rita and her crew were very responsive to every little thing. The place is huge, filled with light, comfortable, well appointed and stocked, and the views are scrumptious. gondoliers ply the waters below us during the day, and at night we love to watch the light flickering on the palazzo walls across our canal.

One of the reviewers complained of noise. The campiello is used for deliveries and collections during the morning hours - we call it our Venetian alarm clock. If you close the shutters at night, you would miss an early start to your day if there were no sounds. Sunday is very quiet, but on the other days you are encouraged to get up when Venetians do, and make the most of your time here. If you are a light sleeper, you can wear earplugs.

There are two bathrooms, one right next to the entrance, one halfway down the hall. The first has a sitting tub that our grandson adored playing in with his toys, and the second bathroom has a big bath you can swim in. Plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. Both bathrooms have showers, but we love a good soak in the luxurious marble-lined room.

There's a laundry room with everything you need, including an iron and cleaning things. As is usual, there is no dryer; the line runs out from the bathroom window. Since it's usually sunny and bright here, drying is no problem, and there's a folding rack for rainy days.

The kitchen is wonderfully well-stocked with pots and pans, cutlery, tools and gadgets, lots of plates, bowls and glasses. Because we had no intention of blowing our budget, we cooked all the time, shopping every day, getting to know the clerks and vendors.

We can't say enough, because space is limited. It's our favorite place in Venice, and we wish we could live here.

The location was convenient to all areas of Venice. Took us about 20 minutes to walk to St. Marks square and less then ten to the to the Rialto Bridge. A large supermarket was five minutes walk away. "Popsicle gelato" was also nearby. Also a farmacy right in the square, about a minute to San Polo, when my son developed a cough.

The apartment looks exactly like the pictures, but the view online doesn't do it justice. It is gorgeous in person. For the view alone I recommend it, but the large size and amenities complete the package.

I was traveling with twin toddlers so we utilized the kitchen for breakfast and cooked one dinner. We even used the cleaning supplies. Everything we needed to cook and clean was there. The only thing lacking was wine glasses.

The front toilet had a weird flush, but they put a sign on it telling you how to flush it to avoid issues with it. Having two bathrooms was wonderful and hard to find in small apartments in Europe. Also having a tub with kids was wonderful. A washer with English instructions and a rack to dry clothes made our vacation easier as we left for a cruise from the apartment with all clean clothes .

They also had a small bag of toys which my kids found and utilized once we had packed all their stuff to leave. It gave us relief while packing and was much appreciated.

The service was wonderful, they checked in on us, and they communicated with me timely before hand. The representative gave us tips for places to eat and gelato. They also provided a very detailed map.

Overall a wonderful place to stay and if in Venice I will go back to this apartment.

Wonderful Venice Apartment

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Venice many times. This excellent apartment makes us want to go back very soon!

Rita was very easy to work with from our first inquiry through our arrival. Elena met us when we arrived and gave us a thorough introduction to the apartment and the neighborhood.

We are a couple, and do minimal cooking. The apartment was very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped for those who do cook. Everything was clean and ready for the rental.

The location is superb. Two vaporetto stops are only a couple of minutes away. Most of our favorite places in Venice, sites, restaurants, etc. were all easily reached from the campiello the apartment is on by foot or vaporetto. There is a convenient grocery, and we found a couple of good bars for our morning coffee and late afternoon aperitivi depending on which route we were taking.

We're looking forward to staying here again. Highly recommended.

avoid if you are a light sleeper

  • 2 of 5

When I read the previous comments from other people who rented this apartment, I can hardly believe that we stayed in the same place...

Yes, the apartment is big and have a nice view on the canal.

Yes, even though some of the furniture is a bit old and dated, it is well furnished and comfortable.

Yes, the building is really quiet (we actually never met any neighbours during our stay).

HOWEVER, at night, the lovely view of the canal turns into a nightmare, when you hear the motor boats passing right in front of your window the whole night! I was able to sleep maybe from 2 a.m until 6 a.m every night...after three nights sleepless, I resolved to sleep in a quiet hotel nearby...

so, if you are a heavy sleeper, no problem, this is a good price value, otherwise...simply avoid to go there.

Owner's Response: Dear Sandra, It's very interesting to hear your point of view. This place is in an authentic Venetian building and with all the original furniture in it...If you prefer a modern style it's obvious this apartment isn't the right place for you. Regarding the canal view and a boats that pass by i don't think it's a "nightmare" as you say...for lot of us is just a perfect Venetian atmosphere...the unique place where you don't have a cars or trucks running around and you can enjoy water all around you. I'm sorry that you didn't like Venice...maybe it's not a city for you. All the best wishes.

Sadly, we only where in Venice for three nights. I think within in a minute of arriving at this very large, well appointed and VERY quiet apartment, we regretted we were not staying for longer. Chiara met us quickly at the appointed spot. She was extremely helpful in getting us settled with the essentials of the grocery store, suggesting excellent local restaurants, pointing us towards the sights on our must do list, etc. She took note of my camera equipment and suggested great spots for photos and even suggested an exhibit currently showing by a local artist. Something not in the tour books and it was excellent. There is a great view out of the windows of a canal that does lead to the grand canal. In the morning you do hear the local delivery boats starting around 8am. However, from about 8pm to 8 am- there is very little outside noise, a welcome break from the city noise of Rome. We would definitely stay here again, close to everything, yet quiet and charming at the same time.
