About the property

Zen 3BR cottage on 2 acres w/ mtn views, forest, large deck, fire pit, ping pong

Mountain views, fireplace, large deck, hammock, outdoor furniture, fire pit and a bright, airy, modern cottage -- the perfect retreat 2 hours from NYC! Suitable for families with young children. Extra children's sleeping nook in master bedroom.

Deer Run, near Woodstock, NY, is the perfect location to experience all the Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley area has to offer. Conveniently located to local restaurants and the towns of Woodstock and Saugerties.

Featured on the Sundance Channel and New York House Magazine, Deer Run is only 90 minutes from The George Washington Bridge, making it the perfect getaway from the city.

Deer Run is situated on two acres with a one-acre forest. Anyone who visits Deer Run is overwhelmed by the tranquility of the house and the surrounding property. We spend many weekends at the house ourselves and also were married on the property. We are delighted to share this special place with others who enjoy getting away to the beautiful mountain environs as much as we do.

The cottage is a short 5 minute drive to the town of Woodstock and about 7 minutes to the town of Saugerties. The Red Onion, one of the area's best restaurants is a 2 minute drive from the house. Many area attractions - including Opus 40 and Overlook Mountain - are within a 10 minute drive.

Should you wish to hibernate at the cottage, the view of the mountains is exquisite. There is a large flat screen television, old-school board games and an extensive video and book collection. Deer Run Cottage also has a piano and a ping-pong table.

The property boasts nearly 2 acres in total, enveloped by forest with a large front lawn, an outdoor fire pit and a large wrap-around deck out back.

The cottage is set up to accommodate six adults comfortably. Each of the three bedrooms have a queen bed made up with quality linens. There are two full bathrooms with towels provided.

The kitchen is suitable for any chef and includes a new convection microwave, dishwasher and fridge as well as a gas stove. Premium dishes and glasses are available for use as are pots and pans. A gas grill is located on the outside deck should you wish to BBQ.

About Joanna and Matt

City Dwellers who wanted to get away from it all and purchased a weekend retreat in the Catskill Mountains over 10 years ago!

Joanna and Matt purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Joanna and Matt chose Saugerties

This cottage had a feeling of calm the moment we walked through the door. We later named it Deer Run Cottage because of the family of deer that we regularly spotted roaming the property.

What makes this cottage unique

We love Deer Run Cottage because we feel isolated but still close to all the things we love: Good restaurants, shopping at small quaint villages and hiking. We enjoy nothing more than a great bottle of wine in front of the raging fireplace in winter or lazing on the double hammock on the deck in spring and summer.

We decided to have our wedding at Deer Run Cottage --- that's how much we love it!

This property is extremely convenient if you are attending an event at the barn next door and Joanna was very good at communicating everything you would need to know for your stay. The living room/dining space was nice but the rest of the house was "tired" especially the outdoor space. Maybe we just had higher expectations based on the pictures online.

A charming hideaway in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great, relaxing weekend in this cabin with sweet artistic touches and a modern styling. Joanna was incredibly attentive, a great communicator and the house was in pristine shape when we arrived. The back deck is shaded by trees and feels very private, the hammock is heavenly. We highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage just minutes from Woodstock

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was even lovelier in person than the pictures show. We had an event at Barn on the Pond, and it could not have been more convenient. Plus, just a ten minute drive into Woodstock made it a perfect location.

Joanna was fantastic to deal with! Very informative and prompt in her responses. Would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to others!

Beautiful, cozy house in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

We traveled with two other couples to the Deer Run house for New Years weekend and had a great stay! Joanna was friendly and helpful throughout the process, with restaurant recommendations and details about the house before arrival. The house is well situated, far enough from the road for seclusion but close enough to quickly get around. We had dinner at the nearby Red Onion and also used the spa Savor (both about 3 miles from the house). We also went hiking and into downtown Woodstock, all nearby.

The 3 queen bedroom set-up is a rare find and works great for couples who want to get away for a weekend. There is also a nook in the master bedroom that works well for a young child. Everything was very clean, and the kitchen and bathrooms had new amenities so the house felt cozy but not overly rustic. All in all a great place to stay!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the property - all the guests were comfortable and loved the decor and ambiance. The fall leaves were coming in and made for a perfect backdrop. Also, convenient to nearby town. Would highly recommend, or rent again if we're back in the area!
