Bask in the sunshine of Hawaii’s Kohala Coast at Hokulani. With four bedrooms and a location close to three golf courses, four beaches and both the Kona and Waimea-Kohala airports, the villa is perfect for family vacations and golf getaways alike. Beautiful contemporary interiors by award-winning designer Kathy Merrill Kelley expertly blend Hawaiian and Asian influences, and a separate guest house offers privacy for couples.
Children will love swimming in the plunge pool, watching the fish in the pond and meeting the residents of the property’s turtle preserve, while adults will want to soak in the jetted tub, try out the barbecue and dine and lounge in the outdoor living areas. Inside, the house is just as welcoming, with a home theater, Wi-Fi access and air conditioning. Guests of the villa also have access to the shared pools at the Mauna Lani Resort.
An open-plan layout makes it easy to keep an eye on everyone, while neutral tones and a sliding glass wall off the great room give the space a breezy vibe. The sitting area has room for the whole family on several linen-toned sofas, while the adjacent dining room can seat at least eight in tropical-style wicker chairs. The fully equipped kitchen pairs natural bamboo floors with striking stone countertops and backsplash, and has a convenient breakfast bar.
There are three bedrooms in the main house at Hokulani and one in the separate hale, or guest house. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, ceiling fan and TV. In the main house, one bedroom has a king bed and al-fresco shower, one bedroom has a queen bed and one bedroom has two twin beds. In the guest house, the bedroom has a queen bed.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Hawaii without a day at the beach. Choose from the Mauna Lani Beach Club, less than 1 mile away, Anaeho’omalu Beach, 6 miles away, Beach 69, 7 miles away, or Mauna Kea Beach, about 9 miles away. Reserve a tee time at Mauna Lani Golf Course, a 3-minute drive from Hokulani, the Francis H. Brown Golf Course - South Course, about 1 mile away, or the Mauna Kea Golf Course, about 9 miles away. By car, it’s 27 miles to Kalaoa, about 29 miles to Kailua-Kona, 20 minutes to the Kona airport and 21 miles to the Waimea-Kohala airport.

The Mauna Lani Resort enjoys two major luxury class hotels, the Fairmont Orchid and the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and award-winning spa. It has two world-class golf courses with well-recognized signature holes such as the 15th on the South Course over the ocean, one of the most photographed in the world. Worldwide, these courses are among the best maintained, with luscious green grass fairways each with their own black lava sculptured into the design and constant views of either ocean or mountain. The Mauna Lani property also includes a private fishpond and turtle preserve, on-resort access to sailing and diving, a petroglyph park and an unhampered beachfront between the two hotels.

We had an amazing family vacation on the Big Island, in Hokulani, a beautiful well appointed home in a great location at a wonderful resort. Everything you need was close by, supermarket, resturants, pools both at the house and across the road. Fitness center & lap pool, walking paths. Excellent beach, water & weather. The beach was beautiful, great snorkeling, paddle boarding , & kayaking, also great Resturant for lunch & dinner. Spectacular sunsets at the Fairmount Orchid, right down the street & Lava Lava beach club. Traveled around the island, such a diverse island. Beautiful Tropical Botanical gardens & waterfalls. Visited the Volcano National park, absolutely amazing! Great snorkleing trip on the Winona. My husband & brother played golf at a variety of courses, all beautiful! It was a wonderful 2 week vacation in a beautiful home! Everything was perfect! Definitely a come back place! Mahalo!
Wonderful villa - love the configuration (in fact we are incorporating parts of the design in our home remodel!). Clean, great service, excellent amenities.
lovely, relaxing home with everything needed for a holiday
Lovely home with pool and hot tub. Perfect for the family.
We had a lovely vacation. We were very happy with the two pools across the street, and the lovely sunsets from the house each evening.
Luxury Retreats was quite thorough, although I'm not sure why they would not forward arrival details until the last 24 hours - a busy time. The Hokulani has a great floor plan for group gatherings, which was a priority, and opens up to the outdoors nicely. Compared to suites at a hotel, it seemed like a deal. Eventually, I did find that other friends visiting the island, acquired much more economical villas. As Luxury Retreats knows, I was extremely disappointed with the 10 a.m. checkout time. Many flights out of Hawaii are at night time and despite our not arriving until almost 10 p.m. the first night, the owners would not allow us to stay in the Hokulani unless we paid an additional day, despite the fact that no one was renting that day and it was low season. Basically, we wandered for 12 hours before 12 hours of flying. Being a business owner, that's no way to treat premium paying customers and results in losing business.
