Wonderful accommodations !

  • 5 of 5

Our family cannot express how much we enjoyed our week-long stay at your Bass Lake Camp at Loon Lake, New York. The wonderful accommodations more than made up for the off again on again rain showers that filled the week. The design of the cabin truly created an authentic Adirondack atmosphere and the furnishings met our needs for a comfortable stay. We were able to make interesting side trips to the Wild Center Museum at Tupper Lake and the visitor information center at Paul Smith's college, which included a 3-mile hike. We will definitely keep your cabin in mind when planning future family vacations.

Beautiful Property

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a week in this great cottage. My teenager loved the loft, the fire pit, kayak and canoe were a great bonus and the little beach area just down the road was nice to sit by. The property is private and well kept. It was a great home base for our daily excursions in the region.

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful vacation in the Adirondacks. The house was clean, well-maintained and had all amenities. The kitchen was very well stocked. Additionally, the house was filled with interesting antiques. The cottage is approximately 30 minutes from Lake Placid. It was close enough to go into town for great dinners out and yet far enough for a truly relaxing vacation. The owner also supplied a very handy list of restaurants and other amenities. As well, there are booklets in the house which detail hiking trails in the area. All in all an excellent vacation. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Quiet Location

  • 3 of 5

It is a very nice clean cabin. The location is a little far from anywhere to eat or activities that we wanted to do. At least 30 minutes to restaurants and groceries. We also could not get a cell signal and they don't have wifi. If you just plan on staying at the cabin it is great. If water view is important you should know it does not overlook Bass Lake, it is across the road from it and you can't see it from the cabin. They do have a canoe and kayak on Loon Lake about a 10 minute walk down the road. The main complaint I have about the cabin was the mattress and bedding. The mattress definitely needs to be replaced and the bedding was really bad. I was left two bottom sheets and the pillows were unusable. I had to go buy sheets and pillows to use during our stay. We also brought our own towels.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review but I would like to clarify a few points. 7-10 million people travel to the park yearly and with its 6 million acres of beautiful and breathtaking mountain ranges. Due to its vastness and desire to maintain its pristine nature, there are limited cell towers. As a result cellular reception is not available in many parts of the Adirondacks. Furthermore, we have made a decision not to get Wi-Fi and many of the renters appreciate this respite from electronic devices. We recently located a spot in Loon Lake where there is a cell signal and have included that information recently in the package we send to all renters prior to their stay. It is imperative that renters conduct the proper due diligence. The location of the cottage is on the website and a quick Google search would have indicated what hikes, activities and towns are located near the cottage and their distances. You didn’t ask us any question. We would have been glad to help you as we do with many guests. No information is ever hidden from any of our guests. In fact when you asked our help with a problem you had encountered we responded and helped you very quickly. We take great pride in our home and have helped many guests with anything they may need. If by accident two bottom sheets were left a simple phone call would have rectified this issue instantly. Contained in the information package I send out to all renters there is a list of phone numbers and you had my email address as well. In the Cabin, next to the phone is a list phone numbers as well. Clearly this didn’t bother you enough to make a phone call. Again, on the bedding issue, I respectfully disagree. We purchase new bedding and towels yearly. As a matter of fact, this year we purchased 20 new towels and removed the worn product. The mattresses’ in the bedrooms are approx. 6 years old and are clean, firm, and not suffering from distress at all. I will give you that you can’t see Bass lake this time of year from the property. When we purchased the Cabin in late fall years ago My wife and I stood at the edge of the property and could see the lake down the road. I never really thought anything more about it. However this time of year, the foliage is so dense and full now you can’t see ten feet into the forest. So, I will remove that from the listing. A tip for renters: Know where it is you are going and what you want to see and do. Familiarize yourself with the area before you arrive.

Nice getaway near the lake

  • 4 of 5

Thank you for sharing this home! So peaceful and close to hiking trails. The roads were not bogged with traffic which made dog walking and running safe for us all. Place was clean and everything we needed was available. Updated kitchen with all amenities. Family of five adults and one dog and we definitely had room for more!
