Corfu is the second island by size from the seven Ionian islands that is situated in the North-West part of Greece. It's the greenest island in the country.
Summer is the best time for visiting Corfu. There are a plenty of marvelous beaches, picturesque mountains, olive-woods, orangeries. You can go for swimming, snorkeling. You can rent a boat and go for fishing or visit the virgin beaches that you can reach only by sea. You can investigate the narrowest pathways in the shadowy gardens by bicycle. Around the island you can have a ride to old traditional villages or visit the mysterious ancient places. In the capital of the island Corfu-town you can find a lot of places of interest or just walk along the narrow venetian streets in the Old Town. And don't miss a chance to try the traditional Greek cuisine.
Traveling opens your mind and makes you feel united with all the world!
We stayed here for several days/nights. We definitely recommend you rent a car so that you can see different parts of the island. The hosts were very kind and friendly, with great suggestions for the area. Everything looked like the photos, and was very clean. The bed was comfortable. It was nice having a private outside deck with tables/chairs. The view was beautiful and you could see the sun setting from our deck. We didn't try the pool but it looked very refreshing and clean. Instead we visited many beaches and sites around the island. The home was in the perfect location - in the middle on the west side of Corfu - which made it quite convenient to drive to the north, south, to Corfu town, and the airport. There are a number of bakeries and grocery stores within 10 minutes driving distance. There is also a cafe at the bottom of their hill. This was our first time on Corfu and we loved it - will definitely come back.
The villa was perfect for our 5 night stay. It was peaceful and relaxing, we definitely felt we were getting away from all the hustle and bustle of London life. The location up in the hills was idyllic, with the amazing views and the light evening breeze was refreshing when sitting out on the veranda watching the sunset. Our lovely hosts, Anya and her husband George were very accommodating and helpful. They kindly picked us up from the airport, we didn't bother hiring a car because of our short stay (although highly recommended to explore the island!) The Ermones beach is a 15 min walk down (a bit of a hike back up!) with a few Tarvernas, favourite was the Nausika. We hired a boat one day from Liapades and had a fab day exploring the beautiful remote beaches west of the island. Totally recommend this place.
My wife and I booked the Emerald Villa between 11-15 May when looking for a quiet, self-catering getaway in the sun. We had a lovely time and our dealings with Anya throughout were perfect.
The villa is one of half a dozen on the hillside of Ermones, Corfu. With two small pools and a (refreshing to see) honesty bar, the villa gave us everything we needed. Stunning views, consistent sunshine, relative privacy, basic amenities - we wanted four days to ourselves to recharge and slow the pace down, and Ermones was spot on. The villas have a homely, family-run feel to them, reinforced by Lefteris' kind offer to collect my pregnant wife and I from the airport. A really nice touch. The family cats roam the villas adding to the relaxing atmosphere; breakfast on the balcony every morning was accompanied by 3 or 4 purring black cats!
There isn't loads to do in the immediate vicinity - a small cove/beach and a couple of tavernas (I recommend the Nausika) all within walking distance - but for 4 days this suited us fine. The hill up to the villas is relatively steep, and the complex itself is also not flat (unsurprisingly for the side of a big hill), so wheelchairs or buggies may struggle.
We would definitely return. Anya is the epitome of courtesy and professionalism and made our booking and arrival very simple. The villa was spotless and cleaned discretely every day. We had a very relaxing break and enjoyed every lazy day. 5/5.
Ermones Villas is situated between Ermones and Vatos village. It is nestled into the hillside of Agios Georgios Mountain with a magic view of the sea and Ropa Valley.
About 500 miters away from the property there is a bus stop where you can take a bus to Corfu town every hour. Also there you can take a bus to some beaches.
There are 2 mini-markets not far from Ermones Villas: one is in Vatos village and the other one close to the beach.
The Vatos village is 5 min. walk. There you can find an old Byzantine Church of Agios Nikolaos that is dated back to the 13th century.
On the top of the mountain there is an old Byzantine Agios Georgios Church that is also dated back to the 13th century.
If you walk to the other side of the mountain you will reach the Myrtidiotissa Monastery - the Monastery of Virgin Mary. They don't know the exact date when the Monastery was built but it is dated back to the 14th century. Father Daniel lives and works there up today.
To the north of the Vatos village you will find Ermones with its nice sandy beach (only 700 meters away from the property). Ermones - it's a small bay with a craggy rocks and woody hillside where an archaeological find have shown an existence of life from the Bronze Age. Up on the hill there is a Monastery of Madonna Apelistra that overlooks the Ermones Bay.
A little further North there is an Antipsos Bay with deep clear waters and a pebble beach.
Not far from Ermones Villas you can find other nice beaches: Mirtiotisa (nude beach 3km), Glyfada(5km), Kontogialos(6km), Gialiskary(7km).
Down the hill passes a small river. It flows into the bay from the Ropa Valley. The valley covers 10000 acres and it is known by its wild life such as rare reptiles, lots of birds, amphibian and fish. In the Ropa Valley there is Corfu Golf Club that is only 15 min walk from Ermones Villas. It covers over 1000 acres.
Not far from Ermones in Ag. Ioanis village (5.5 km) there is a Water Park AquaLand where you can have some fun on the plenty of different slides or to chill on the Lazy River.
Corfu Island and Ermones Villas look forward to welcoming you!
