About Property Manager/Owner
As a native Wisconsinite, I have a deep love of the outdoors. I raised my kids at our lake home where we spent every weekend and holiday for almost 25 years. Now single, I live in sunny Virginia Beach, but all my best memories remain 'up north'. I get back there several times a year and we even host a triathlon there once a year in August. The rest of the time you can find me working as a physical therapist or traveling as a volunteer PT around the world.

Beautiful view with a cozy home
We enjoyed our September stay. With the start of the leaves changing it was very beautiful on the lake and at the property site. The home was clean and had everything we needed. We had six adults (3 couples) and one toddler. We all had a bed to sleep in and there was a room big enough to put a pack and play for the toddler. It was a great place to have a relaxing family get away. There was a place to rent a pontoon right on the lake. Very easy to do. Sara provided us with a list of restaurants in the area which was very helpful. If we were to head up to this area in the future for a family vacation, we would definitely rent from Sara again. Thanks for letting us enjoy your house!
Thank you for your delightful review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year to be at the cabin. Hope to see you again in the future.
2018 Braapfest cabin rental for seven vintage snowmobile guys from Milwaukee, WI
Had a great time at Springstead Lodge Braapfest. Lots of snow for the event. The cabin had plenty of room for all seven of us. The cabin is way back in the woods, with a very narrow driveway. The parking for trucks with trailers is very tight. We would rent this cabin again & would bring a good snow shovel with us.
Hey James, so glad you had a good time in Springstead. I saw the pictures and it looked amazing. Of course I don't rent a whole lot in the winter but I'm glad that you were able to manage the driveway and parking situation. Please keep me in mind for next year. Sara
Deck lights didn't work, we sat in the dark. Couldn't contact anyone cause we had no service. And I would say this property comfortably sleeps 6 not 8. We brought in our own air mattress because the basement sleeping arrangements were musty. Other than that it was a good time.
The house phone works, I'm sorry you didn't try it. The deck lights do work but the switches can be confusing. Again, house phone would have solved the problem. I use ATT and get service in my home. Most other folks get service as well. But the house phone is available for local calls. I employ a caretaker and I am also available for questions. There are clean sheets for the basement sofa and futon. Glad you managed to have a good time in spite of these issues.
Lovely, homey house in the woods on a quiet lake.
This was an amazing experience. We brought our two teenage boys and our lab to stay for three nights The home is comfortable and so well stocked - there was nothing we needed that wasn't there. All we had to do was buy food. The owner was very easy to work with and always responded to messages quickly. One day we rented a pontoon boat from the lodge on the same lake - that was so fun. Every morning I took my dog for a swim in the lake from our private dock. We made s'mores in the backyard with the fire pit. There is a nice big TV in the basement and a comfy sectional - we brought a gaming system and stayed dry on the one day it rained. I can't really express what a special place this - the only bad part was having to leave. There are kayaks and canoes and water hammocks to use too. We will definitely be back!
I'm so glad you enjoyed your time there. It's great to have access to a pontoon boat through Springstead Lake Lodge. I used it while I was there too! I will look forward to having you back again in the future.
The property was clean and well kept, and the house was absolutely beautiful!!
We had a fantastic time, except for one hiccup...on our first night there, as we were taking in the fabulous night sky, the neighbor came over and asked if we knew that the power would be shut off in half an hour (10pm to 2am) apparently this happens 4 times a year, so that the power company can update their system, and make needed repairs. We scrambled around to find flashlights, and candles...we did thankfully. I decided to also fill my water bottle during this time, and I'm glad I did, as the water also gets shut off during the scheduled power outage. The rest of the time there was great! The beds were comfortable, except for the sofa sleeper in the basement. The kitchen, as well as the whole house was well stocked with everything you could possibly need, or want! We spent the majority of our time outside on the kayaks, and canoes that were provided for our use. We had a great time fishing, boating, and hanging out at the fire pit. We did have to stay indoors one day due to rain, but we played lots of games some of which were also there for our use. So all in all our trip was exactly what my husband and I wanted...to spend quality time with our family, and leave behind the hustle and bustle of our busy lives. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to get away from it all, and for those that have teens that can't live without the internet (lol)...they will soon forget all about the spotty internet, and the social media that they can't get...once you get them on the water!!! Our family is already planning our next vacation up there, we truly had a great time!!! Thank you for the use of your beautiful home, and we can't wait to return next year!!!
HI! Sounds like you've had an adventure. I've never been there for a scheduled power outage, but had many unscheduled ones in my lifetime! That's living in the north woods for you. Glad you weathered it so well. Yes, weather can be unpredictable but you brought the right attitude. I do tether my phone for internet but the resorts have it as well. Looking forward to seeing you again next year. Kind regards, Sara
Wonderful secluded place
We loved staying here - very secluded and close to the Turtle Flambeau flowage. It's very nice to be able to use the Smiley's kayaks and canoes and we made good use of it. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes trees.
I'm headed up there now to enjoy the place with friends. Can't wait to get out on the water. I'm so glad you had a good time, hope the fishing was good.
