We will definitely stay here again! It was clean, spacious, and satisfied all our needs. Easy check in and out. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We couldn't believe how much there was to do at the property.
The grounds were quite lovely and the condo we stayed in was very roomy. The amenities were great, but although we tried several different times of the day/night each day of our stay, the indoor pool and hot tubs were always extremely busy. My only complaints would be the check-in process and the 'concierge' they send you over to.
We arrived in the area early and I called about an early check-in, since they advertise 'first come first serve' in regards to the best condos and/or views. They advised me to come to the location and pre-register. We did so (roughly 1pm) and we were told they'd text me when the condo was ready. They advised that we were free to use all the amenities while we waited. However, come 4pm (posted check-in time) we still hadn't received a text. Therefore, I went back to the front desk and after waiting in line the 2nd time, the condo was ready without a problem. So not sure why I wasn't notified prior to 4pm, which may have saved me the extremely long wait in line the 2nd time. Both times they sent me over to the 'concierge' , which was basically someone telling us we had already been scheduled for a time share presentation (made it sound like there was no option, although we didn't book from their site or see that in the description). They did promise us a $125 visa gift card for our 1.5 hours of time. However, when we went, it was actually close to 5 hours instead, on Easter to boot. We were very annoyed with that, but as promised they did give us the gift card when they finally finished.
This is the first time I booked through Homeaway.com and was surprised at the incredible price this 2BR / 2BA was being offered. I didn't realize at first that DiamondResorts is a timeshare and I read other reviews to find out if there were any pressure sales people. At check-in, I noticed the desk staff were referring guests to pick up their "welcome" package down the hall. As I waited in line to get checked-in I would see people go in but not many of those same ones would come back out. So I realized that was really where the sales pitch was being held. I skipped going down the hall after check-in to avoid it.
When we arrived at our place which looked like a townhouse but is actually a lower and upper unit. We had the lower unit. The decor is very nice and clean. Our two boys loved their twin beds and had their own bathroom.
We used the pool and hot tub but the the pool did not have any kid amenities like a slide or water fountains but they were fine splashing around in the 3 ft section. We didn't use the restaurant or coffee shop on the property.
During our stay, we received a total of 3 sales calls to book again for another special price but I declined. They accepted no just fine with no pressure. Overall, I would go again to DiamondResorts and recommend it to others. Just know beforehand you will get a few sales calls.
The map to the resort that was furnished with the reservation was terrible! The map given to us at registration was great!. Maybe you can get one from the resort and send it.
The unit was decent. It is older, but had been remodeled. Everything was clean. We needed two bedrooms and two baths and this worked for the few hours that we landed there. The Master king sized bed is a little hard.
There is only one designated parking space. My party had two cars as my goddaughter had driven seperately so we needed a second spot. Luckily there was an unmarked spot close by. Was a little taken back when the lady at the receiptionist desk was showing me where they would have to park and walk to our unit if there were not any spaces near us that were unmarked. I did not want my goddaugter and her friend to have to walk from the extra parking to the unit at night in the rain. We checked in at 11:45 pm due to being at Busch Gardens all day.
The front desk check in became a problem. I had to go out to get my license plate number, came back in to give it to the lady checking me in. She then placed a piece of paper that she was writing on in a drawer. I left to go to the unit. A man came out to stop me and said I quote "you neglected to sign the registration form." I don't easily get offended, but this was an interesting way to ask me to sign a form that I had not viewed. I told him that I had not seen a form, but would sign it and went back in. It is almost as if the front desk lady was defending herself and blaming me for not signing the form.
I came in and she said the same thing. "You didn't sign the form that I gave you." I looked straight at her and said you didn't hand me the form. I went out to get my license plate number, gave it to you and you put the form in the drawer right there. Please show me the form and let me look at it and I will sign it. She did not walk me through the form and then acted as if I was the problem. I had to initial two spots, but did not realize it. Handed the form back to her and she stated, "you did not initial these two spots." By this time, I was annoyed. It was late. Good customer service would be to say: we neglected to have you sign a form. So sorry, but can you come back in to sign it. They could then go over it. Make the customer feel good even if they did neglect something.
Also, I won't be staying here again because I received 3 calls in total and was asked multiple times about the Diamond Resort timeshare presentation. Someone even called me the next morning and woke me up to tell me about it after I had said no thank you several times.
