Nice large private home with incredible porch

  • 4 of 5

Our group rents a different property every summer. For us, we would probably not stay again because we like to be on a lake and have found other nice properties with lake access and more bathrooms that can accommodate our large group

However this home is perfect if you're okay with 5 minute walk to lake

Jeff was easy to work with - great communication - very professional

The front yard/porch area was beautiful, comfortable..absolutely great!

The kitchen/supplies were more than substantial everything you could need and then some

The extra normal sized fridge and freezer in garage was a nice surprise

Extra seating in garage was also a plus for those dinners when everyone ate together

Nice large firepit area

Lake was a bit of a walk - we knew that ahead of time but thought it would be closer than it was.

Only 2 bathrooms for 12 people and 5 bedrooms. On Vrbo the house advertises 2.5 baths but only 2 were open to us) - we knew that going into it but still would have been nice to have extra 1/2 half bath

Showers usually got hot enough - there were notes by the showers that said you may need to wait 5 minutes for the hot water - there were a couple times when people got a cold shower

We had a lovely weekend with family and friends.

This home would be great in the winter too.

Owner's Response: We advertise for groups of 6 based on enough bedding and baths for that size group. The upper level bath is a 1 3/4 and lower bath a 3/4 in builder terms. Since larger groups simply can't find homes of this size and book any way we let them know what to expect if they choose to have more than 6. In this case doubling occupancy has it's consequences. On demand hot water is not instantaneous once the primary source is depleted. However, unlimited once it's running. Time is needed to empty cold water from the copper pipes. This is one of the issues with having a nice cool air conditioned home for guests. Lake shore is 2,000 feet from home and viewable from home between Fall and Spring. The access lot is clear and easy to walk or drive to and has a parking area. Most find it nice to have the best of both Worlds for added privacy. Temperature and conditions vary between lots providing yet another guest benefit. We also invite guests to visit the Lodge with lake views and an indoor ground heated pool/hot tub.

A great week of fishing and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My favorite part of the property is the yard - great for reading and enjoying the morning on the new porch, playing bocce ball and obviously the campfire. The kitchen and grill are more than adequate for meal prep and cooking. And the bedrooms are luxurious and comfortable. I look forward to staying here again!

Large private house in the woods

  • 4 of 5

The listing description was accurate, but pictures are misleading since the property is not ON the lake but about a 5 minute walk from the lake. Also it helps to know there are 6 double beds in the main house and 3 single beds in the guest house. The property was clean and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need. Jeff, the owner, was very helpful before hand and with an overview upon arrival. He had explained that the hot water may need to run for 5 minutes before getting hot which was fine for a shower but not when just needing hot water to wash your hands. With past VRBO rentals there is a cleaning fee built into the cost of the property. Jeff had told us that we would receive our entire deposit back it we cleaned up before leaving. We were under the impression that meant a general cleaning. We mopped, vacuumed, cleaned bathrooms, cleaned the kitchen, wiped out the refrigerator and did at least six loads of towels and sheets and remade 6 of the 9 beds before the owner arrived. We were still charged $50 for the owner to clean the bathtub we never used, to run the dishwasher and to finish the wash for the last three beds. Usually, the VRBO owner has a cleaning service in between guests and we thought we had gone above and beyond in helping clean. The property is large and private, it was nice to have a bonfire and music and know that we weren't bothering neighbors. We had the teenagers sleep in the guest house - they loved the privacy and we loved the fact that we couldn't hear them! The front seating area is gorgeous with the fountain and the pergola. The inside decor is somewhat dated. You may want to bring your own pillow as the ones provided are a bit worn. Overall, it was a great weekend with friends and the property was perfect for a group our size, just would have liked to understand the expectations of the amount of cleaning needed. We would rather have had a set cleaning fee and not done any of it instead of spending hours cleaning and still being charged.

Owner's Response: The water front is clearly documented on VRBO and other directories as adjacent and explained upon each booking. The home is furnished with 6 queen and 3 twin beds not double beds. We leave the home fully stocked, clean and groomed for each guest. Our lease clearly states a cleaning fee is billed to deposit if not completed. $125 for linens and up to $250 for cleaning of home. All guests or tenants make their own choice upon departure. We are happy to clean for a fee if asked. If tenants leave the home without completing the cleaning we simply bill for any time required that runs over 1 hour to clean given such a large home. Furnishings in home were recently updated and we continue to buy more new items like pillows and linens as they are found worn. Given the size of this home when the hot water is not running the pipes turn cold. The home has a tank and on demand hot water system for unlimited hot water not found in most homes or cabins.

Relaxing Wooded Get Away

  • 5 of 5

I wish we could of stayed longer. It was such a calm and relaxing property. Entering the giant gate and coming up on the house was such a welcoming feeling. Sitting on the veranda listening to the fountain bubble was my favorite spot. There is plenty of space on the outside of the property and on the inside. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. I slept in the room with the french doors, and it was one of the best nights of sleep I've had in a long time. There's enough rooms for everyone to go in and do their own thing. There's a TV area up and away from the main living room, and a completely separate guest house. We didn't have any kids up with us this time, but it would be a great place to send the kids/teenagers to have their own space, without being too far away. The property owner was great to deal with. Very accommodating. Gave us great advice on where to go and what to do in McGregor. Will definitely go back.

weekend visitor

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful setting for a peaceful weekend! After entering the big front gates, we found ourselves nestled amongst huge trees and lush green grass. The East-Coast, Martha's Vineyard looking house, presented us with a new white pergola, several decks and a tiered water fountain. The house is very spacious but comfortable, has stairs to the bedrooms but they were not a problem. So welcoming. Can't wait to visit again.

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Very nice home with lots of room. We had 12 people stay for our week of family vacation, age from 68 down to a 1 1/2 year toddler. Jeff is very helpful with any needs you may have. This propery is very quiet you will feel like you are in the forest alone. The area water was very high so we were not able to enjoy the lake very much but did get some fishing in. If you have never done a VRBO this is a great one to start with no disappointment here. Pictures of the property are very accurate. Hope to stay again in the future

Owner's Response: Thank you for spending your much awaited vacation week at ACE. Mother nature blessed the area with over a foot of rain fall in less than a day just a week ahead of your arrival. The lakes have stabilized since your departure. We look forward to your return to enjoy the lakes with full wake boating.
