About the property

Nonsmoking, Immaculate 2 bedroom , 1 queen, 1 twin-trundle, and sleeper sofa

This charming, immaculate, and nonsmoking older home's interior was newly renovated in 2014. Located on a quiet side street in a family neighborhood in downtown Bar Harbor. It has an open floor plan & hard wood floors throughout. All new appliances. There are 2 bedrooms - 1 has a queen, - 1 has a twin-trundle, plus a queen sleeper sofa in living room. A port-a-crib is available. The walls are hung with original paintings of Mount Desert Island, and Acadia National Park. Full laundry, wi-fi, cable tv, and a pleasant yard to share complete the package. While the apartment comfortably holds 6, ideally this home is best suited for a small family - 2 parents and kids. The trundle bed is not to be used by anyone weighing more than 100 lbs.

We are situated in the southeastern end of town, and are a few minutes walk to The Village Green, and the Island Explorer bus hub (runs from Jun-Oct) , Mount Desert Island Hospital, The Abbe Museum, Jesup Memorial Library, St. Saviour's Church and its' Tiffany stained glass windows, Reel Pizza, and all the shops and restaurants. Town Pier, Agamont Park, Albert Meadow, the YMCA, Compass Harbor, the Jackson Lab, and the majestic views of the Porcupine Islands are all within a 5-10 minute walk.

We are also within walking distance to the Village Connector trails into Acadia. Compass Harbor and the ruins of George Dorr's family home are just a few blocks south. The Schooner Head Path is accessed off the Compass Harbor Trail. The Great Meadow Loop is accessed off Cromwell Harbor Road, just north of the ball fields. It connects to Jesup Path, Dorr Mountain, Homans Path, Kebo Connector Trails, and much more.

For winter visitors - Acadia National Park is a winter wonder-land! Hiking (crampons a must), Nordic Skiing on groomed trails in the park, snow-shoeing, skating, ice-fishing, & sledding are all in the mix. Winter night skies are hypnotizing. We have the darkest skies east of the Mississippi. If you are interested in astronomy and star-gazing - ANP is your place!. MDI & ANP are under appreciated in winter! Do yourself a favor and come to this magical frozen place!

Convenient location, fully equipped home, and perfect host

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Susan's home over the Thanksgiving Day weekend and had a lovely time. First, the location is perfect. We could leave the car parked at the house and walk to all the shops and restaurants in town. It took less than 10 minutes to drive into Acadia National Park. Second, the home is spacious, clean, and well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals. Susan had puzzles and games available, and it was convenient to have a washer/dryer for laundry. Finally, Susan was a low key but responsive host. Because everything went well, we did not need to contact her for any reason during our stay, but she let us know that she would be willing to help in any way if we just asked, and she was great about answering our questions before our arrival. Thank you, Susan! We enjoyed our stay tremendously!

Great location, great stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great location to enjoy Acadia National Park by day, and Bar Harbor by night/morning. You can get home after a day of exploring, leave the car in the driveway, and walk to dinner. In the morning we got up for sunrise, on the shore path, just minutes from the apartment. The apartment was clean, well stocked, and perfect for our stay. Thank you Susan!

Great apartment, very clean, super location!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment had everything we needed. It was incredibly clean! And it was located within walking distance of anywhere you could possibly want to go, grocery store, restaurants, etc. It was just 5 min from Acadia National Park. Susan was very kind and quick to respond.

Couldn't Be Happier!

  • 5 of 5

A quiet and comfortable getaway for a hectic visit over a long, noisy and crowded Bar Harbor weekend. Everything was as described in HomeAway. The apartment is a nicely furnished 2 bedroom with a comfortable living room, large dining area and a kitchen stocked with about all the utensils and appliances one could need, all of which worked perfectly.

About a month before my arrival date, Susan sent a check-in message with all the information needed regarding keys, parking, contacting her, etc. It was all very welcoming. When I arrived, everything was tidy and sparkling clean. The password protected wi-fi worked well (the password is in the Welcome Book on the counter in the kitchen.)

The one time I had a question she returned my call in less than 5 minutes. After that, the only time I heard from her was an unexpected and warm note wishing me well for the race I was there for; I enjoyed the privacy. I could not be happier with my experience here.

Great place right in the town of Bar Harbor

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights from Fri 29th September. The instructions for how to find the house and get the key were easily followed.

It was clean, tidy and comfortable. We loved the place. The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped. The laundry facilities were excellent. Susan was very quick to respond to any queries we had.

The house is very convenient to the town - handy to be able to leave the car parked and take the bus from the village green into the national park for long walks. We were very fortunate with the weather 25 -30 degrees C, bright blue skies and sunshine, and we walked all over the town, enjoyed the shore path walk, all the usual touristy things.

Our favourite part of Acadia was Sand beach: it was like a summer day when we were there but without the summer crowds.

We can certainly recommend Susan''s house if you're looking for somewhere quiet yet convenient to the town centre.
