Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Broadway

Top Cottage is a delightful stone cottage for 4 people, with an unrivalled location in Broadway, the quintessential Cotswold village known as the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds'. It is the perfect base for exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The cottage enjoys an unrivalled location in a quiet mews set behind the beautiful High Street and within a two-minute's stroll from a selection of restaurants, tea rooms and a wide range of quality, independently-owned shops including a deli, art galleries and gift shops.

A storybook vacation

  • 5 of 5

OH, did we ever enjoy our stay at Top Cottage!

My husband, 1-year-old son and I stayed there for a week, and it was everything we could've hoped. Just adorable, quaint, cozy, clean, and both old-fashioned in the ways you'd want but modern in the ways you'd like (bathrooms, all the amenities you need). The view from the second floor is stunning, and the back garden is a lovely place to be. We would've spent far more time out there in the mornings if our little boy wasn't determined to put every little stone in his mouth.

The location is fantastic. Literally steps from the main street in Broadway, which is a storybook town. And Broadway is in the middle of storybook town after storybook town. It's hard to believe the people there are living real life. We loved having Top Cottage as our home base as we drove through the gorgeous rolling countryside and explored the towns, and places like Stratford-Upon-Avon and Oxford. We also just loved walking High Street in Broadway, going to the coolest playground we'd ever seen at the top of High Street, and hiking through fields of sheep up to Broadway Tower.

I am so glad my mother told me the Cotswolds were my grandparents' favorite place in the world, or else I might never have known to visit this picturesque part of the world.

perfect little cottage in a quiet corner of picturesque Broadway

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was attractively decorated and was very clean and well kept. Although very small it made maximal use of all the space and the four of us (me, my husband and our two teenage daughters) were very comfortable. We enjoyed making use of the little courtyard garden in the fine weather and it was great to just walk out of our little lane into the centre of Broadway. It suited us perfectly but tall people might find the en-suite shower and toilet a bit of a squeeze.

Nice, Comfy Cottage and Excellent Location

  • 4 of 5

I really enjoyed my stay at Top Cottage and would stay there again. The location is great, just off the Broadway High Street and the cottage is comfortable. The heating system is excellent and thermostat controlled. The cottage was tidy and clean and the housekeeper very friendly, as I happened upon her just as I was leaving. The back garden lets in good light and is a pleasant place to sit and listen to the birds.

Two faults keep me from giving it five stars. The amenities could be improved. For example, I would expect small bars of soap in the bathrooms for the showers. The lighting could be improved. Bulbs were quite low on wattage and the cottage with its heavy drapes tended to be a bit dark except in full day. More overhead lighting would help.

Also it would be helpful to have better access to firewood and kindling. I had to buy both, which meant I had almost a full bag of kindling that had to be left at the cottage as I moved on to a hotel and live in another country. It would be good, for example, to give the guests an option of with firewood/kindling for an extra cost. A non-stick fry pan or two would also be good additions.

This is a cottage that has a great friendly welcoming feel that seems more home-like than many rentals.

Gemütliches Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The property was very clean & well-kept. There's a supermarket nearby where you can purchase all your necessities. There are numerous restaurants close by. A perfect base for walking/ hiking and also exploring the region. Parking available in the quiet little lane alongside.
