I am a literature and philosophy teacher. My wife teaches elementary school. We have lived in Manhattan for the past 15 years, raising our children here and traveling together to all parts of the globe.

My family and I moved to this town house four years ago. We have come to love its easy proximity to all the city has to offer, while also enjoying a large, elegant home with rare outdoor space.
The Washington Heights neighborhood is a vibrant part of Manhattan with gorgeous housing stock. It is easily accessible to all parts of the city yet allows for quiet evenings and mornings. A full-sized supermarket, pharmacy, bank, and bakery are all within a five-minute walk. The surrounding residents formed a neighborhood association four years ago to bring us closer together. Our efforts are in evidence all around, from the volunteer beautification projects at the Morris-Jumel mansion to the colorful tulips springing up everywhere in the tree-pits in all along the sidewalk. We have also provided a means by which residents and visitors can feel as if we are continually looking out for each other.
The Morris-Jumel mansion historic neighborhood is recognized for its rich land-marked monuments and its bucolic splendor--this is easily seen on Sundays when tourists from all over the world are seen snapping photographs.
Our block is routinely sited as the prettiest in Northern Manhattan for its wide, tree-lined boulevard and tasteful array of window-boxes and areaways.
This property was recently used as the location for shooting several documentaries and one feature length film--the elegance of the original oak features attracted the set designers and directors.
A private garden with fence and gate is available to guests for sitting, creating a wonderful opportunity to have a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
We loved staying in this townhouse. Bruce, one of the owners, was incredibly helpful and easy to work with. The home is quiet, charming, perfectly set up for a trouble-free stay. The bed is really comfortable, there is ample closet space, and the bathroom was a pleasure to use. Original woodwork and mirrors, fireplaces, marble made the surroundings delightful. There is everything you need within a radius of a few blocks (supermarket, pharmacy, late-night grocery) and the subway C line is only a few hundred feet from the front door. The easy subway access to a major line made transportation planning simple. We never felt that we were too far away from anything. During our trip we went all over Manhattan, down to the lower east side, to the east side, midtown, Harlem... within 10 minutes to a half hour we were wherever we needed to be (and believe me, with holiday traffic taking a cab would have been ruinous and much slower). We would stay here again for sure. Thank you so much to Bruce and Sabrina for a wonderful New York lodging!
The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The easy walk to the grocery store, subway, drug store, various markets and restaurants, plus the easy walk to The Armory, made it very convenient for our visit. We would definitely recommend this place and will consider staying here again for our next trip to the city.
The townhouse was well-appointed and well-positioned for me to work in the Bronx as well as being a tourist in NYC! Easy access to subway and other amenities. The location was in close proximity to restaurants on Broadway and I was able to meet up with friends for meals.
The townhouse was very clean and comfortable and I will be returning for a longer stay with family in April.

There are all for living with children. It is close to subway, 1 minute by walking, food shop. I recomend this apartment, it is better than living in tiny hotel room without kitchen.
I lived in New York City for 16 years and still have family there so I am always looking for somewhere to stay that is comfortable, safe and convenient for subway travel. This apartment was all of these things and more. It is truly a grand old grey stone home with exquisite details like marble sink tops and two wooden faced fireplaces, sliding wooden room partitions and so on. It is not modern, so any one looking for something with shiny finishes and smooth lines may not be quite as pleased, but we loved every nook and cranny of this place.
Perhaps more importantly, it was super clean and well stocked with soaps, toiletries, hand cloths, kitchen accessories, etc. The bed was extremely comfortable, and even being in the city where it can be quite noisy, we slept wonderfully. Of note, the bathroom is private and all yours but is not technically “within” the apartment but just adjacent to the bedroom in the hallway. The entire second floor is yours so it didn’t bother us at all, the shower is great and the bath towels were so soft and lovely.
The apartment is located right around the corner from the C train which we used all the time. And if we walked just a few blocks northwest we could catch the A express or the 1/9. We also drove and had a car to worry about, but accessing this place is soooo much easier than more centrally located places, buzzing in and out of the city across the GWB is so convenient. We only had one night of tricky street parking, but there are parking garages nearby as well. Lastly, it is dog friendly and thus we didn’t have to leave our pup at home, what a great find in the city!!! There were plenty of other doggies being walked in the neighborhood and the grounds of beautiful Morris-Jumel Mansion, just steps away, are also dog friendly.
We loved this apartment and hope to rent it again for a future stay, it’s a great piece of old New York City history!
Our stay at New York was very much enhanced by the hospitalities provided by Bruce and Sabrina. Not only was the apartment very stylish, well maintained and fully equipped, the hosts were accommodating and sincere in making our stay the best it could be. They provided several contacts with us along the process of booking and a sent a personal welcoming letter that established a friendly yet still professional report between us. As a whole, they have done a great job to write and gather information to provide to their guests by compiling a binder filled with materials such as instructions on how to use the local transit including directions to popular tourist attractions and destinations including more authentic local restaurants and other amenities. The neighbourhood is bustling with local activity and the grocery store and pharmacy just meters away were more than adequate to keep us supplied. We met our hosts on a few chance encounters leaving the building and they were very friendly and interested in how they could make our stay better, asking us if we needed anything or what our plans were for the day while adding their own perspective to the itinerary. In addition, they were having some work completed to the exterior of their home and gifted us bottles of wine as a way of saying thank-you for dealing with the inconvenience of the workers outside of the building (which was hardly an inconvenience at all). Overall, Bruce and Sabrina were focused on making our stay very comfortable by creating the feeling of living like a local.

The C train is just around the corner and you will be transported to columbus circle in just 15 minutes!
The Morris-Jumel mansion (museum) and its surrounding gardens are open to the public and a two minute walk around the corner.
The High Bridge--New York's oldest standing bridge--just completed a massive renovation 60 years in the making, but it was worth the wait. You can now walk or bike across the entire span!. All of the original splendor has ben meticulously restored. The High Bridge remains the most majestic and visible portion of the Old Croton Aqueduct in New York City, rising 114 feet above the Harlem River's mean high tide.
More adventurous types can walk 25 minutes north to the metropolitan museum of art's cloisters--a gorgeous manicured garden open to the public year round. It's worth the walk!
You can also catch games for the exciting inaugural season of the brand new NYC Football Club--just a twenty-minute walk across the Macoumbs Damn Bridge.
