Overview

About the property

A peaceful home located away from city lights and city noise!

"Acienda" is in a "dry" county. It is best if you get your alcohol before you arrive. It is much cheaper in LasVegas.

We have the best of two world's. We are located half way between St. George (less than 20 miles) and Zion National Park (a little more than 20 miles). Acienda is located near the quaint town of Hurricane. St. George has shopping, restaurants, antique stores, and live theatres. Zion has hiking, biking along with great art galleries.

Our home is located in an exclusive subdivision with 30 other southwestern homes. We are located on 1.6 acres. The custom adobe home has acid etched floors through out the house with log pole ceilings. It is detailed with southwestern artifacts.

It has four bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms have queen size beds. The living room has a hide-a-bed couch that makes into a queen size bed. The fourth room has a trundle bed with two twin size beds.

There is a full bathroom between the Jack and Jill bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own bathroom with two sinks, a walkout shower and a large master closet. There is an additional half bath located close to the living area.

The kitchen is spacious and is next to the dining room that seats 6 people. There is a bar that seats 4 additional people.

There is a patio that goes the full length of the house. The dining area, living room and master suite all have French doors to access the patio. The outdoor area has a picnic table, fire pit, barbeque, chairs and a chaise lounge to enjoy the beautiful views.

There is a long front porch that is adorned with an 8' church pew and a sunken garden. Enjoy your morning coffee or your evening wine on the private patios with beautiful mountain views and spectular starry nights.

The rates are $195.00 for 6 or less people. The limit is 8 people with an additinal fee of $25 per night per person for the additional people. There is a non-refundable "Pet Fee" of $100.00 for one dog and $50.00 for each additional dog. No cats are allowed.

Fun and Games in Canyon Country

  • 4 of 5

Idyllic setting and ideal location to explore the local beauty.

The Captain and Kathryn were gracious hosts, and very helpful.

Cute owl sleeping in the tree out front. Happy bunnies in the backyard.

And gurgling quails foraging in the foliage.

We missed the sauna though, it would have helped those sore hiking muscles.

Owner's Response: Ian thank you for coming. We enjoyed taking with you. Sorry about the sauna. Unfortunately a guest broke it and it was on order for a long time. It has just arrived so it will be working when you come back!. Sincerely, Kathryn

Absolutely Beautiful! Just a jump from Zion Park and Kolob Canyon

  • 4 of 5

House is beautifully decorated, clean and well maintained. Plenty of room and stuff to do if you have children. The kitchen is equipped for almost any meal and the back patio has a butcher's block if grilling is your thing. Quiet residential development with a great view and located near two really cute towns. If we were not hiking at Zion, Bryce or Kolob we were at River Rock coffee shop enjoying beautiful views and awesome food & drink! Will consider staying here again when we return in two years!

Awesome Zion Retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a great property if you're planning a trip to Zion and surrounding parks and sites. John and Kathryn were wonderful hosts ensuring that all the comforts of home were at hand when we arrived. From coffee in the morning to fires in the late evening under the stars the house was the perfect setting for our family vacation. Kathryn provided some great suggestions for enjoying areas we would have never considered.

We're hoping to take advantage of this great property when we visit again.

Beautiful, spacious place with a few quirks

  • 4 of 5

This house is a special place to stay, some ways away from the town. We four older adults loved the quiet and the views of desert and rock formations, as well as the sky at night, where we could see the Milky Way and various constellations. The attractively gardened front patio area as well as the larger, more open back area were great places to sit outside, to watch a sunset or changing light on the mountains. The house is comfortable and beautifully decorated, mostly Southwest style, with an excellent, well-equipped kitchen, lots of counter space, and good dining space for 6. The livingroom is delightful, though short on good reading lamps. The beds varied, but two out of three were fine for us. Everything worked well, except the sauna and the front gate latch. We met the owners on our last evening there. We really appreciated their sharing their former home with its appealing and tasteful colors, art, and textiles. It was a fairly pleasant, easy and interesting drive to Zion from there. We made that trip several times, and also enjoyed a day trip to the north rim of the Grand Canyon from there.

Owner's Response: Dear Susan, Thank you for your review. I appreciate your comments. Sorry to say but the guests that stayed over Labor Day broke the bed frame in one of the rooms. I since have bought a new bed and will replace it soon. I also went and bought a table lamp to go in the den next to the recliner to have as a reading lamp. I do listen to the reviews and try to accomdate my guests. Thank you for your suggestions. Sincerely, Kathryn

Great times

  • 5 of 5

The house is accessible to Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon National Parks. Coming from a big city, it was very nice to spend a week away from city noise, lights, and to see starry nights and Milky Way. The house was very comfortable which contributed greatly to our very enjoyable vacation.

Visiting our daughter in Zion

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect house with incredible attention to detail. We loved the location! The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and we were able to cook big family dinners every night. The house is away from the tourists but also a short drive to Zion National Park. The decor in the house was rich with colors and fabrics and had a very warm feel to it. We can't thank the owners enough, for sharing their home with us!
