About the property

Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Casa Anita is a warm and inviting villa, with very comfortable furnishings, beautiful arches and columns that accent the main floor and surround a nice central pool and fountain. It is unique in the heart of Granada within 3 blocks of Central Park with all that it has to offer, such as Dining, Night Life, Shopping and Museums, just to mention a few.

There are two luxurious bedrooms upstairs that have ample space, very comfortable queen size beds, TV's with cable, airconditioning and each have on-suite baths.

Mild temperatures, blue skies spotted with white clouds, the sound of dove and kiskadee, an occasional glimpse of parrots just off the upstairs balcony. The sound of horse hooves on the cobble stone streets below, the aroma of breakfast cooking at one of the local restaurants around the corner....all while enjoying a cup of locally grown coffee. This is just one morning in the real everyday world at Casa Anita.

No trip to Nicaragua is complete without a trip to Granada to experience the warmth and hospitalility of it's people, and culture. It is a relaxed and easy pace where schedules and agendas are almost non-existant. You can leave your watch at home. A horse drawn carriage is just the right pace for taking in all of the historic sites, some of which date back to 1524, when Granada was founded.

Just a few blocks past Central Park and you will find Lake Nicaragua where boat tours are available to explore some of the 365 islands and habitats formed by the Mombacho Volcanic eruption from over 20,000 years ago. Now dormant, Mombacho reserve is mostly covered by a mystical cloud forrest. Tours are available for the adventurous at heart.

The villa comes equiped with Hot water on demand, which means you never run out!

About Anita Worrell

My husband is retired and I am a Registered Nurse and Director of Operations in a National Home Health Company. We have been married for 23 years and raised a blended family of five children. God has blessed us with twenty grandchildren. As strong Christians thank GOD fo the opportunity to own a villa in Nicaragua and pray that we are able to honor HIM with it.

Anita Worrell purchased this villa in 2011

Why Anita Worrell chose Nicaragua

My husband first traveled to Nicaragua in 1971 and was intrigued by the culture, however he was not able to return again until 2008 when we met up with his college roommate and friends who are originally from Nicaragua. We both fell in love instanlty with the warm people and the beautiful country and are in awe of the astonishing architechture and unique culture. We have intentions in the next few years of retiring to Nicaragua, however in the mean time thought we could enjoy our own piece of heaven. We searched tediously for a villa that was warm, inviting, elegant and close to everything and the first time we looked at it on-line we knew this was the one. Of course when you walk into Casa Anita you will see that you instantly feel at home. We decided to purchase this villa for a vacation rental and our home away from home until we retire to Nicaragua in the near future.

What makes this villa unique

Casa Anita is just 1 & 1/2 block from Mercedes Cathedral and 3 blocks form Central Park. In Central Park you will find anything you like from Horse Carriage rides to local art and crafts. Restaurants and Night LIfe surround Central Park. Just about 6 blocks further and you are at the 7th largest lake in the world. You can take a boat ride to the Isletas (Islands) and feed the monkeys on Monkey Island, swim, fish or just admire the serenity of it. Granada is a beautiful town with great architechture and amazing history.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just wanted you to know how much we enjoyed our trip to Nicaragua. We could not have dreamed of such a trip until Mike started describing your casa, the food, the people, etc. Thank you for sharing. All was great. We ate at a different restaurant each meal except for one. Two times at the Artist’s Café for lunch. All meals were wonderful. The pool was such a nice break in the afternoon. Great idea! The last two days the temp was 95. February is really a great time.

Thank you again for making this experience possible.

Beautiful home with a great location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently traveled to Nicaragua and stayed in Granada for 5 days. We had booked Casa Anita without doing much research about the city. Luckily, Casa Anita did not disappoint. The location was perfect! Within a 5 minute walk of the Central Park, great restaurants and bars. The house had everything we needed, including a blender to enjoy the fresh fruit that is sold on every street corner and Flour de Cana. The pool was also extremely useful for the the humid weather. Definitely recommend!

Great space and location for two couples.

  • 4 of 5

House is attractive, with nice artistic touches. Works well for two couples (each couple has private bath, comfortable bed, and enough space). Bed linens were in good shape, decent towels. WiFi worked well, nice big table, love seat and couch comfortable. Kitchen is small, but adequate for breakfasts, snacks and simple cooking. Lots of good restaurant options in Granada, so this was fine. Loved the plunge pool when we came home tired and hot. Location was good - close to groceries, market, restaurants, yoga... We would come back.

Lovely gem of a home in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here! It's a beautiful home and we felt spoiled living here for two weeks! It's perfect for four people - you have plenty of room. The pool was just wonderful and there are plenty of fans to keep you cool, and the A/C in the bedrooms is so nice to have. Just keep an eye on the electricity if you are there for a longer stay as it can get expensive (although this is the case everywhere in Nicaragua). And you can walk everywhere - we had fun at the ChocoMuseo and walk to the top of Iglesia Merced which is right near the house and has a great view. We would come back here in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it!

Absolute Nightmare & Very Dishonest Management Co

  • 1 of 5

Do not use this company that is employed by this Owner!

Our problems actually started upon securing the home through GPS. I was sent a contract for our reservation that had the incorrect dates and number of people. I sent an email asking them to correct it and was told they "accidentally sent this with the other persons dates". I now see that this just set the foundation of what followed: Our ordeal started when we could not get a Ferry off Ometepe Island and delayed our check in at Casa Anita at the 12:00 noon. It was a Sunday and I was given a contact person that was to meet us at the house that was an English speaking person by the name of (Ms. Blanca) and a phone number of 8995-5xxx. Immediately, I tried calling the number to inform them of our delay and had to leave a message on both her number as well as me calling the GPS office and leaving a message there as well. When we arrived in our rented 4x4 we were met by a young man that was in his mid 20's and spoke no English. Knowing we would have a Truck due to prior travels throughout Nicaragua, I had ask in previous emails about the parking of the truck. I was told it was not advisable to leave the truck in front of the house and to utilize the Parking Garage or you could get the security guy that is up the street to watch the truck for a few dollars. Upon checking in we tried to ask the guy that checked us in where to park our truck. He kept pointing at the curb and giving a thumbs up saying OK.. I ask 3 times knowing we were told not to leave our truck in front of the Casa Anita and after no avail we tried calling all 6 numbers in the instruction book in the house and in my check in instructions. None of the numbers worked not even the emergency ones as the English one had been disconnected that was listed in the book. The instruction book in the house ONLY references a Parking Garage, but gives no directions where or how to find it. We knew we had no choice but to try and walk to the GPS office as well as find the parking options.( Not advisable to drive in Granada especially when you just arrived and have no idea where you are going.) We locked up the house and left at 4:30pm (Still daylight) to find the parking options. We were only gone for 1.5 hours and upon arriving unsuccessfully reaching anyone at the GPS office or finding the parking options we see that the mirrors on the truck had both been stolen. Owner's Response: Tanya, I have to say that this review is actually not of Casa Anita but of the management company. They have managed my house and many of the others in Nicaragua. Having dealt with the property managers personally as a renter and as an owner, I have full confidence in their ability to assist when informed of any issues. Most of the complaints you have stated are not correct. First of all you were visiting a Hispanic country so you should really be able to at least know how to communicate, if only on a basic level. It is not the property managers responsibility if you were late to arrive and you can't really expect everyone to just drop their plans to meet your demands. The young lady you mentioned is very responsible and I received a copy of an email that was sent to you in June (prior to your arrival) that there would be a security guard there to give you access to the house. You were informed prior to renting Casa Anita that you could not park at the house and given a few options for your rental car. In the same email sent to you on June 13th you were told to park at the Fire Station that is clearly marked on the map that was attached. You also left with no intention of paying your final payment. I understand you are upset about the rental car but that actually falls upon you and your inability to follow instructions.

magical, and absolutely perfect on all levels!!!

  • 5 of 5

We decided to do a very last minute trip to Nicaragua and chose Casa Anita as a first base and then travel on to stay on the coast and other places.....instead we extended our stay....twice! and then we stays the whole time. Anita was a perfect host and the team at the managing company answered each and every one of our many questions with patience, joy and knowledge. The casa is spotless, perfectly organized and very well equipped.....and the small indoor pool was soooo perfect to wake up in and to soak after a day of excitement every evening - our 5yo couldn't be any happier. Kayme, the daily cleaning person, very much deserved our farewell hugs as well and now, only hours after arriving back home again we already miss our heavenly oasis in the beautiful town of Granada.
