About Chuck & Karen Colley
We love Gufport! We purchased and moved into this 2-family flat (duplex) in 2010. We originally lived upstairs while we completed a renovation. Now we live downstairs and welcome our guests staying upstairs.
Chuck & Karen Colley purchased this Condo in 2010
Why Chuck & Karen Colley chose Gulfport
We fell in love with this quirky, charming old house that was built around 1925 when Gulfport was little more than a sleepy fishing village and the street car brought folks out from St. Pete to board the ferries that sailed from the Gulfport Casino (not gambling but the original meaning of the word 'casino,' which meant dance hall or gathering place. Passengers boarded ferries on the pier next to the casino for the trip back and forth to the barrier islands. Those islands now are Pass-A-Grille, St. Pete Beach, Isla Del Sol, Bayway Isles, Maximo Point and Tierra Verde.

This was by far our best vacation yet. We stayed for just over a month. Chuck and Karen are wonderful hosts. They are available at a moments notice. The cottage is older, but very clean. The location is fantastic. The pool is an added plus. We had it to ourselves most days. Our favorite things were sitting on the balcony watching people and the water. Sitting by the pool. Exploring Gulfport's many nice restaurants and pubs. Fishing almost every day from pier. Tuesday market on Beach Blvd. Daily music at pavilion 6 on the beach. Walking everywhere. I guess I could go on and on... If you are into biking, bring your bikes. Bike paths that go all over St Pete are only a couple miles away. Great stay, will be back!
Great location...but poorly maintained
Old cottage, overpriced for what it has to offer. No heating...not recommended for winter vacations.
Thank you to our recent guests for staying with us and providing feedback. We are concerned that they did not find their stay satisfactory, and we would have made every effort to remedy any problem were we made aware of it.
The property was built in 1925 and does not have central heat. We do provide space heaters, which in the past have stood up to the occasional cold snap we have in this part of Florida. Nevertheless, we will evaluate whether this option is adequate to the comfort of our guests.
Regarding pricing, the rates are in keeping with the marketplace. We conduct an annual audit of the vacation rental market in the Gulfport area generally and the art/beach district specifically to ensure our rates are accurate, competitive and in keeping with available amenities.
Finally, the maintenance of the property is ongoing and in the past year that maintenance included painting, new linens, new appliances and new television.
We want our guests to enjoy their stays with us, to have a good time while here and to enjoy their time in our little corner of paradise as much as we enjoy it. Our commitment is to take every step possible to ensure our guests leave with fond memories their time at the Gulfport Beach Cottage.
Wonderful Place To Stay In Gulfport
We just spent 10 fabulous days at this charming Gulfport Cottage!! The location couldn't be any better! Right on the water and across the street from the start of all of the restaurants and shops! The cottage is on the 2nd floor overlooking the bay. Karen & Chuck have decorated in a manner that reminds me of Key West! In fact, the city of Gulfport is like a mini Key West! The 2 bedrooms were perfect for the 4 of us. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need if you choose to cook. The living room has windows all across which makes it open & gives you a fantastic water view. It was nice touch having cable tv, books, games, movies, etc available for our use. Having the swimming pool was also great as we love to lay out in the warm Florida sunshine! Was also nice having that water view while doing that as well!! Right across the street is a small beach which we went to a few of the days. Karen & Chuck have beach chairs & an umbrella available to use for that also! Thanks again to Chuck for his hospitality & making us feel at home. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit!
A great vacation!
Just returned from a week at this cottage in Gulfport. What a fun community. The best kept secret in Florida, in my opinion. This cottage is adorable and adequately stocked. Washer and dryer on site a plus. The pool was an added bonus and we normally had it to ourselves. The owners are a delight and I felt like we were friends by the time we left. We highly recommend!!
