About Bernie Eglington

I live in the UK but travel widely. I currently live in there North East in a small town called Guisborough which has the ruin of an 11th century Priory. The town is surrounded by forest, is on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and we are very close to unspoilt beaches edging the North Sea. My favourite destination is Florida with it's diverse culture and theme parks. I love Harry Potter and Universal's Harry Potter World is just awesome. I am a dog lover having, until last year, a beautiful Golden Retriever as my best friend.

Bernie Eglington purchased this villa in 2000

Why Bernie Eglington chose Kissimmee

I first visited Orlando in 1990 and was so taken with it that I kept coming back. When I discovered the Indian Point development I could not resist buying this property. I was sure others would want to share the joy, and I was right. I have been successfully renting this property since 2000.

To keep up my very high standards I remodelled the villa in the last few months and hope that guests will be as pleased with it as I am.

What makes this villa unique

This villa is on the edge of Indian Point giving easy access to US 192 and all amenities, Theme Parks and Attractions. As a family home I have made it as comfortable and welcoming as possible because, whilst everyone will want to be out and about with all the activities on offer, sometimes staying in and relaxing is essential. I should warn you that it will be difficult to drag yourselves away from the ultra-comfortable seats in front of the awesome ULTRA HD TV. In case you think there will be nothing to watch, we have ultra HD films to watch as well!

Amazing Home

  • 5 of 5

After a 17 hour ride from NY finally seeing the house was a great feeling we were not disappointed the house is beautiful and very well kept, Access to the property was both easy and quick, The owner is very responsive to questions and I can only assume just as responsive to any issues although that is an assumption only because we had NO issues, The pool was very refreshing after a long day out and about. We hated having to leave to come back home. We will Definitely be contacting Bernie for our next trip to Florida. The whole family enjoyed our stay, Its a very Quiet neighborhood and close to everything, No more than 10-20 min to Disney and Sea world. 1Hr and 20 min to Daytona Beach. If you are looking for an affordable beautiful house to enjoy your vacation look no further this is the house I cannot recommend it enough. You will not be disappointed. Thank You Bernie for making the process so easy and allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your kind comments. I try very hard to make booking and holidaying as easy as possible. I also aim to achieve high quality for what I offer. When things occasionally go wrong I try extra hard to put them right. In this case things were good and I am pleased for the renter. Bernie

Wonderful vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Bernie's Kississimme home. Very centrally located to the attractions but in a quiet neighborhood. House was very clean with a well stocked (pots, pans, dishes) kitchen for cooking. We took our entire family - 6 adults and 2 grandchildren. Plenty of room. We loved the pool. I highly recommend this home for your stay in the Orlando area. We will try to stay again the next time we are in Kississimme.

Home was nice but lacked amenities.

  • 3 of 5

This was a nice home but lacked the amenities that you expect when renting a vacation home. The hot water was lukewarm at best so there was no hot water for showers, laundry, or washing dishes. I would suspect this is probably why the sheets and towels had a sour, unclean odor. We had to launder the sheets and towels prior to use. The matresses and pillows were very used and need to be replaced. The AC thermostat was programmed to 79 degrees for daytime and 75 degrees for evening. For us this was just too warm for sleeping comfortably, especially when it is 103 degrees outside. We called the property manager and insisted the temperature be lowered and they did come by and adjust it a few degrees.

With all of the homes that are available for rent this would not be one I would rent again.

Owner's Response: It is disappointing to find out there have been problems without the opportunity to put them right. I would not stay in a villa with some of the issues described. I continue to raise the standard of my offering.

Nice place and good location.

  • 4 of 5

The one significant issue we had was the air conditioning. There is a manual with instructions that we did not notice until the 2nd day. It states the thermostat must me maintained at 77 degrees. This is quite warm, especially when sleeping. All the rooms have ceiling fans which helped a lot. Since we didn't know, when we turned the temperature down, the compressor froze. The property management is excellent and responded right away. The cost was hopefully covered by the mandatory insurance. That said, the location was very good. The house was very clean and very well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, the large master bathroom, the four bedrooms, three baths and state-of-the-art televisions. We traveled as a family of four with two teenagers and a dog. We were able to get to Universal Studios within a half hour, even with some heavy traffic. Disney is even closer. There are several restaurants and grocery stores within 5 minutes. The neighborhood felt save. Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again. An updated air conditioning system would make this 5 stars.

Our Week in Kissimmee

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay! What more can be said? I've only got one bad thing to say about our vacation- it wasn't long enough!!! As for the house? It was a great stay. There was a little bit of confusion as to the garbage/recycle curb service, since I assume the service changed up on the days of service recently and there were two sets of instructions as of to the day(s) of service, so I just did what the neighbors did. I watched the rest of the street and followed their lead. No issues there. Garbage on Fridays.

Easy peasy getting to all the attractions and necessities. Disney is a hop-skip-and a jump away. I-4 is close by as well if you need to run to Tampa for whatever reason (be mindful of the construction zones through Orlando- it will make a short commute a very long one. Recommend alternate avenues if travelling during peak periods). Well located and quick in and outs to the house from Rte 192. And it's just far enough out of the main flow as to remain in a quiet neighborhood. One caveat going on the two-lane Bass Rd going back to the house- Walmart shoppers love to dart out from the parking lot to make a left hand turn right in front of you so you need to keep an eye out for that.

Speaking of Walmart, it was close by so anything we needed was right there. And Sam's Club was just up the road a bit so if you need a LOT more of whatever, if you're a member you can go there, too. And plenty of eating places nearby!

Rules were fairly simple- Read through the instruction book that's left out for guests. It was just the wife, dogs, and myself staying that week, but if there were more people, it would have been fine as well since there was plenty of space for more. We loved the open, spacious kitchen, dining and living room areas with the vaulted ceilings. Made the house seem bigger than it really was. Clean and neat and nicely appointed.

If we had rented a hotel room, we wouldn't have been able to keep the dogs, and we surely wouldn't have the peace and quiet during the evenings and early mornings like we did (and it would be a lot more expensive). Plus, we were able to finish watching our favorite Netflix series during downtime. We did not use the pool, so we cannot comment on that, but it looked fairly clean.

We had no issues so I cannot comment on response for service. I would definitely recommend this home if you want a great stay at a fair price.

It's probably been said before, but it was a lot like home away from home. Thanks, Bernie!
