About this property

Country Relais & Spa Le Capanne is a 100-year-old farmhouse recently renovated into a luxurious country-chic Villa by the owners. It is located in the countryside of Volterra, an 8th century BC city.

The villa is about 650 square meters in size, with 40 hectares of land. It offers 360-degrees views of Tuscany's rolling hills and sunsets, in a peaceful and private setting. Adjacent to the property is a natural reserve: Monte Nero, where hiking trails and waterfalls are available to guests to explore.

The villa has nine beautiful en-suite bedrooms, each with its own private access. There are large common areas for groups to gather, such as 2 kitchens, living room/seating area with 3 sofas, two dining rooms and a laundry room. Also, available indoors is our spa. Here you will find a heated jacuzzi, massage room and changing room.

Outside we have an original wood burning pizza oven, bbq and 2 fire pits for guests to gather around. Also, available is our swimming pool, roughly 15 x 6 meters in size, accompanied by our pool house (pool structure with kitchen and bathrooms). There are numerous alfresco spaces to dine with family and friends or relax on your own with views and sunsets of Tuscany.

The strategic location offers all customers a wide range of flexibility. There are two nearby airports: Florence and Pisa. You can take day trips to Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Livorno and the coast.

Activities arranged by the Owners are cooking classes, wine tasting, golf, horseback riding, city tours and many more.

Coast/Beach

The nearest beaches of Cecina, Bibbona and Castiglioncello are a 45 minute drive. For those prepared to travel a little longer there are some beautiful coastal towns well worth exploring such as Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Baratti. Also available are interesting one day cruises to explore the Tuscan Islands.

Skiing

The nearest ski resort is at Abetone which is 150kms from the property.

Beautiful villa

An amazing villa in a beautiful location. Dario and Vera, the lovely owners, could not have been more helpful. All the bedrooms are en suite the ground floor bedroom is suitable for a wheelchair user. The villa is well located, only an hours drive from Pisa airport and only 15 mins drive from Volterra which has several good supermarkets, shops, restaurants etc. We would thoroughly recommend using 'Tuscan Mummies' who cooked for us twice during our stay and the food was delicious! We would also recommend a trip up the hill for pizza at Borgo Della Speranza restaurant.

Good time!

We had an amazing time at the villa! The view is unbelievable and the condition of the house and everything all around was great. The owner was very friendly and quickly helped us with anything that needed to be done. The only bad thing is that our holidays already over but we will look forward to visiting again.

Stunning Place

We were 4 German families (15 people) staying 10 days; we had simply the best time at this beautiful house and place. The accommodation, pool and grounds were simply stunning and I could not fault one thing about it. It is exactly how it is described in the listing and photos, but even better. Dario was a great host and very helpful; he was always on hand to answer any questions and even provided us with some amazing olive oil as a welcome gift. It truly was an idyllic haven. Thank you for everything!
