The town of Tubac is described by the following: 'Scenic high desert vistas surround Tubac, and the village enjoys a year-around economy that benefits from summer temperatures notably cooler than Tucson or Phoenix. More than 100 businesses now line Tubac's meandering streets, and a full day can be enjoyed wandering through the numerous art galleries, working studios and gift shops. The Tubac Center of the Arts provides a full range of arts programming, and seasonal exhibitions should not be missed.
This home is owned by two generations (parents/daughter/son-i-law) after they fell in love with the area and wanted a place for themselves as well as one they could share with others who enjoy a vacation that is focused around relaxation, art and history.
Carla and Scott purchased this townhome in 2010
After visiting the Sonoita Wine Country for several years we shared Tubac with my parents the week of the Famous Annual Tubac Arts Festival. My parents fell in love with Tubac and the townhomes as well and we chose to share the experience as a family. My father who is a historian loves the history that abounds both in Tubac and it's surrounding communities. My mother and myself enjoy the galleries and the dining options that abound (when we aren't enjoying a home cooked meal in our kitchen). My husband loves the proximity to the different golf courses and depending on his game has a variety of courses to choose from.
Our family loves the walks we can take within the community. We love looking at the beautiful architecture of the homes and townhomes. When we want to take a longer walk, we head over to the Anza trail for a nature walk/hike.
Although nicely appointed the air conditioning was unable to keep the place cool during the day and well into the night before it could cool the place down. Made foe some hot sleeping.
The townhouse in which my friend and I stayed was perfect. It had two master suites which was ideal for us. Our first "issue" was getting the lockbox open because we both have semi-long fingernails😉! Of course we were excited to see the house, so this was, OBVIOUSLY, a minor deterent! The one problem we had was we couldn't get the air conditioning to cool the townhouse down as it was pretty warm outside and the temperature inside was 83 degrees. I called the owner, Carla, and mentioned that the thermostat said to replace the batteries. She told us she would contact her husband but would be happy to repay us for purchasing new batteries. I was able to pull out the batteries and reinsert them which rebooted the system and the place cooled down.
The townhouse was well-equiped for our needs and very comfortable. Having a pool/hot tub we could use was also a plus I REALLY appreciated the timely response by Carla who answered my questions promptly and was very helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend this out-of-town home as a home away from home!
Well-appointed two-story condo in Tubac, right next to the pool (nice for hot weather visits!). Outdoor courtyard, comfortable indoor living space with fireplace. Very comfortable for two couples, with separate upstairs and downstairs bedrooms and baths. Great location, within a short distance of downtown Tubac. We really enjoyed Tumacacori, Madera Canyon and Patagonia, all within easy distances of this modern condo.
We stayed at 389992 the winters of 2014-15 and 2015-16 for a total of 10 months. The place and location was perfect. We met so many lovely people through the pool area; got to know the local area very well; spent hours hiking right out of the condo. The place easily accomodated the two of us and our dogs. Carla, the owner, was always immediately responsive to our needs and took very good care of us. She is a true gift for renters of her place.
It was the nicest VRBO experience we have had in 30 years
We rented the Tubac Townhome to be near a family reunion. It was perfect for our needs, and more!
Charmingly decorated and appropriately stocked with every need-- ahem, WIFI! - we were able to come "home" with the kids to rest, recharge and spread out in a spacious home to relax. Right across from the pool and near all the Tubac restaurants and shops, this townhome makes for a get-away with all the necessities right near by.
The owner was gracious and searched high and low when my son lost a book that he received as a gift when we stayed in Tubac. Although it wasn't found and likely lost elsewhere, I am extremely grateful for the correspondence and attention to such a minor detail for our little guy. This was above and beyond service and truly indicative of all the great care the owners put into making their guests comfortable!
We had a wonderful, although short, stay. And despite a few minor issues (no instructions on how to turn on the outdoor fireplace, no property information on what to do with trash, blown out light bulb) we would definitely stay here again. Just make you get this information prior to your visit as the local contact would not return our calls. Great home, comfortable, wonderful community (friendly neighbors who filled in the gaps of knowledge - except the fireplace, noone could get that going).
A beautiful 45 minute drive will bring you into the Sonoita Valley Wine Region. Here you will find over 10 operational wineries with tastings. Ten public golf courses within 30 minutes of Tubac. Tubac is known for it's arts community. Galleries, shops and musuems can be found. If you have more time to spend, take an art class.
