1 Bed/1bath located on 3rd floor. Beautiful views, near all amenities

Charming medieval colombage property offering fully renovated one bedroom apartments (each sleeps 2). Situated along a calm cobblestone lane in the square of beaulieu's 12th century church. Centrally located, in walking distance to all amenities and just a few minutes walk to the dordogne river. La Charente is full of charm showing off the magnificent beams of the roof structure and medieval carved beams in the bedroom wall. Chestnut flooring, double glazing and electric heating provides a warm and cosy apartment for rent all the year. Large windows fill the apartment with light and offer beautiful views of the 12th century church and rooftops of Beaulieu. The kitchen is u shaped, fully equipped and modern. A small hallway gives access to the large bedroom and separate full bathroom. The single bedroom sleeps 2 comfortably. The bed is 180 x 200 (two 90 x 200 mattresses in the frame). 2 bedside tables, dresser, closet and built in shelving completes the bedroom. The bathroom is spacious with full size bathtub including shower, under floor heating, cabinets, towels and hairdryer. Access to the apartment is by a common entry door at ground level and each apartment has an interphone for entry door access. The apartment is fully equipped with all the necessities required for cooking as well as all linens and towels.

Why Laura or Tom Garbett chose Tulle area

The renovation of the house has been a rewarding experience. It had been left to ruin and many villagers thought it would have to be torn down. As the house began to take shape more and more residents would come by and check on progress (hard to miss all the work as we are in the centre!). One local resident was born in the house and he as well as others have expressed their gratitude that we saved it.

We have kept as many of the original interior features as possible. This apartment being at the top of the building features exposed original roof beams throughout. Also during works we found medieval carved wall beams, now a feature in the bedroom wall. Large Velux windows make this apartment very light and airy with views of the village rooftops, the church and surrounding hillsides. The lobby and stairwell back wall is of pointed stones. We hope you enjoy the experience of living in a medieval village in a 15th century house with its insides offering you all the modern comforts and conveniences.

What makes this apartment unique

The colombage facade stands out boldy above the cobblestone lane. She sits comfortably amongst stone houses along the lane. The wood carved window surrounds on the first floor date to the 15th century and are a rare example as most preserved ones are of stone. Each level of the house was built in a different era as we saw in the construction methods during the renovation. It is a little piece of history in a picturesque village.

A wonderful experience.

This apartment is the nicest property we've rented. It is beautifully decorated and thoroughly equipped. It's evident that Laura put her heart and soul into bringing this building to life.

We enjoyed a relaxing three night stay in this lovely town. Parking is convenient and the shops, restaurants and the river are all within walking distance.

So do yourself a favor and book a stay in this beautiful apartment in the heart of France.

Superbe restauration

Appartement tres confortable. Très bien équipé. Superbe restauration récemment terminée avec le confort moderne. L'appartement est en plein centre de la vieille ville médiévale avec vue sur les toits et l'abbatiale.

Les croissants du matin sont à moins de 50 m !!!

Région fabuleuse pour le velo, la rando pedestre et le canoë.

Every May the village hosts a Strawberry Festival and in summer every Monday evening there is a local producers market near the river. A bbq is set up and volunteers cook food you purchase and picnic tables available at riverside. A band provides entertainment. Canoeing, fishing, hiking, cycling, sampling the gastronomy and experiencing the cafe scene are all at your doorstep.

Notes:
The house is in the old medieval centre of the village so its a calm and quiet location. A boulangerie is only steps away, just follow your nose! Pretty location facing the 12th century church and the other houses in the square. In walking distance to cafes, shops, the local market and to the Dordogne River. The apartments have been renovated to new in 2014 so they are clean, bright and each has their own charm.
