About Jarlath & Loretta Cooke
We are local to the area and have a lot of family living in this part of the countryside.
Why Jarlath & Loretta Cooke chose County Galway
We wished to be able and come visit this unique and beautiful part of the world when ever we wanted. We rebuilt this home from new to replace an old house. We finished it to a modest standard for our own enjoyment and use. Its our home away from home.
What makes this House unique
We stay in the Beach House to get away from it all. The home is extremely comfortable and quiet with all mod cons. We just love to kick back and relax, read, cook, or just take leisurely quiet walks to the beach. We have yet to take a walk and not spot something new or see something from a different vantage point. If you want quiet and peaceful this is the spot and yet you are still within a stones throw of many activities. Sometimes you may pass a local that is only to happy to pass the time of day with you and fill you in on all the local news and activities.

Perfect spot for our Connemara getaway
Thanks to the Cooks' warmth and friendliness, and their care in creating a marvelous home for visitors, our party of 5 (1 senior, 2 adults, 2 older teens) enjoyed a perfect 6 days in Moyard, County Galway. From our earliest communications, the Cooks were generous and responsive to my queries - and when they offered to meet us in town to guide us personally along the back roads to their lovely home, I knew that their spirit of hospitality was above and beyond. Loretta gave us our orientation - and had left us a welcome of homemade soda bread and other local treats to fortify us for our adventures.
What a thoughtful rearchitecture of an early 20th century family home: space for all and then some, with graciously proportioned public spaces, and a private bath for each spacious bedroom. The garden was similarly spacious - tons of room for pickup soccer games and running around with the neighbor's horse, who was more Golden Retriever in character than horse - we lost our hearts to him! The house was a perfect jumping off point for beautiful, peaceful walks to multiple beaches down lovely lanes lined with fuchsia hedgerows and the distant sounds of sheep and cows. As remote in feeling as the Cooks' home is, the town of Clifden, with its many restaurants, shops, bookstores, etc. is only a 10-min drive away, and we ventured easily and enjoyably from our home base all over County Galway and beyond. My husband and I fell in love with this part of Ireland 20 years ago and were absolutely delighted to be back. I'm grateful to Loretta and Jarlath for the abundance and comfort they provided my family and me on our visit.
Wow, thank you for the wonderful review. We are always delighted when our our guest enjoy our home and discover the beauty of this area.
This is a wonderful home. Perfect for relaxing and recharging in comfort. All was beyond expectation
This property is absolutely beautiful. All the comforts of a warm and inviting home. Wonderful hosts - extremely responsive and welcoming. The location is great for a relaxing get-away. We were able to stock the house with all that we needed for our stay and then enjoy morning coffee, picnic lunch on the beach and great dinners cooked in a very well-appointed kitchen. We will definitely go back!
Hi Elise, Thanks a million for the lovely review and we really appreciate it. Hope you had a safe journey home.
All the best Loretta and Jarlath.
Fantastic Home in Beautiful Connemara
First time to holiday in Connemara, scenery spectacular, Jarlath and Loretta super hosts, house is beautiful, very spacious, and very well laid out, space for everyone. Beautiful lawns for kids to play, ideal property to discovery Connemara, would definitely love to return to this house again. Claire
Perfect secluded spot for visiting Connemara
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautiful house. It is very spacious and well equipped throughout. Having ensuite bathrooms for each bedroom was a real bonus. The house was perfect for a 8 of us. Reliable wifi was also a bonus
I have reduced mobility and walk with a rollater. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom worked well for me. The shower tray has a little step but had it been a problem, the extra bathroom downstairs with wet room area would have been perfect. There is low step at the front door(8/10cm).
The house provides a perfect base for exploring Connemara. Four of our group are cyclists and enjoyed discovering new routes. The well maintained and colourful garden is also a peaceful place to spend time.
Jarlath and Loretta were very helpful and friendly from the first point of contact and there to welcome us on arrival.
Thank you very much
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful review. We strive to give our guest a good level of comfort and cleanliness. We were delighted having you as guests and will hopefully see you again in the furture
Wonderful and relaxing. I want to go back.
Took my wife and 5 of my kids to attend my wife's sister's wedding and turned it into a family vacation. The house was perfect. The kitchen was well equipped to cook for a large family. The location is great. So quiet and peaceful and a short drive from many great places to visit in Ireland. Jarlath and Loretta were amazing hosts. Highly recommend.
Thank you for you great review. We're delighted you had a great stay in our home and you enjoyed all Connemara had to offer.
Wonderful Home for Connemara Exploration
Our group consisted of 4 sisters and their husbands. We were touring along the Wild Atlantic Way by bus. This home was perfect for our needs. From our fist contact with the owners we had nothing but great experiences. The owners are very friendly, responsive and accommodating. They couldn't have been nicer in my opinion. The home is furnished very tastefully and is very, very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped with all that is needed and state of the art appliances. The bedrooms are all en-suite and large. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. A short 10 minute walk bring you to a very beautiful secluded beach. Great picture taking opportunity. Perfect for touring the sights around Clifden (Sky Road), Westport, Kylemore Abbey, Connemara, Roundstone (Bodhrans) etc. Picture perfect part of the world. I highly recommend this property for you next visit in Connemara. Thanks for letting us enjoy the property.
