Beautiful place, great views, and clean.

  • 5 of 5

Recently just stayed here and loved it. The views are really much nicer than pictured. Spacious, comfortable furnishing, and loved the jacuzzi bath tub. Easy to find and convenient to get around. Melody does a great job too with her area information. We will definitely be back.

if you wanna getaway from it all with a great view, this is it

  • 4 of 5

nice, clean, well kept property, though we did have a small problem with water that was immediately resolved. The cabin sits atop a mountain with gorgeous views of mountains. The drive to and from the property can be a little tiring for a flatlander and it is removed from most civilized activity. The cabin is close to Lake Watagua and there are a couple of marinas with boat rentals, kayaks, paddleboards, etc that are reasonably close. There is not much dining or shopping opportunity that is very close so unless you looking for a secluded mountain retreat, or a lake vacation, you will probably be doing some mountain driving.

Owner's Response: Glad you found the place clean and in good working order. Sometimes guests turn off the water and the lever has to be turned back on - just a flip of the switch. Yes, it is definitely a mountain get away with gorgeous views and great lake access. This place sits mid mountain closer to the water which is about a 5 minute walk down to the dock. Boat rentals are easy thru any of the local marinas. All are very accommodating. There isn't a McDonalds at the end of the road but there are lots of hidden places, non commercialized, family owned options around this area which is tourism driven. Dry Hill general store is less than a five minute drive and sells breakfast lunch and dinner. On Watauga lake there is a finer dinning restaurant that is kid friendly too serving lunch and dinner with a full bar. Shirley's restaurant has a line out the door on Saturdays and Sundays and is a ten minute drive. Theres vacation villages too in every direction all about a 30 minute drive with lots of restaurants, shopping, live music and festivals. All this and more is in a welcome package emailed to every guest who stays with us. Make sure you review the list of favorite places so you don't miss out on the fun!

Nice home with great views!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here and really enjoyed the place. The online booking was very easy and we immediately received a welcome package directly from the cabin rental company that gave us lots of helpful information. The long range views were gorgeous, you could see far far away. There's a nice yard for dogs, and a large wrap around deck with a grill. The place is a large two bedroom home that was spotless. We met the housekeeper one morning, her and her husband make themselves available if guests need anything which is really nice. We never called but it was nice to know someone would be there if needed. Its a 30 minute trip to Boone for Walmart, restaurants and entertainment. Our favorite restaurant was Hob Knob Cafe. It was recommended in our welcome package and it was a great place to eat and not expensive. At the property you feel like you are very removed from the world but town isn't too far. Theres marina's around the lake area. We stop at a couple of them and finally rented a boat. We saw just about every inch of Watauga lake, too. Then we discovered the river and that was even more fun. If you like to fish, then you've arrived in the right area. We all hiked around on the Appalachian trail, it runs right thru this area and we hiked to Elk River Falls which were gorgeous. We would definite return and would recommend this for anyone looking to get a way and relax. Thanks for sharing your home with our family.

Owner's Response: It sounds like this vacation started off right. They had an easy time making their reservation. Everyone in the office tries to accommodate anyone looking to book a property. The welcome package is key to those unfamiliar with the area. It allows guests to move and groove like a local. You are right, the long range view is gorgeous and there is a large yard that welcomes pets. Glad to hear that you didn't need anything during your stay but if did know that the housekeeper is very attentive. The restaurants in all the nearby vacation villages are good. Lots are owned and run by Chiefs. Some are very inexpensive and some are 5 star dinning experiences. And of course there are all the usual chain restaurants for those who like familiarity. Boat rentals are provided thru the local marina's. In addition to Watauga lake you have four rivers to see, fish and swim along with water falls and hiking trails. Theres just so much to do up here from snow ski to water ski. Its a great retreat for any season.

Was not impressed and way over priced.

  • 1 of 5

My husband and I had rented the house from July 1st to July 4th. The house was a little difficult to find but that is because the mail box down on the road is blocking it coming in from Boone but we did end of finding it. As far as the difficulty of the drive way it was a little more rough then what we expected but we managed to get up and down just fine. Our problem was with the uncleanliness of the home itself, there was mouse droppings under the sink and in every cupboard plus a mouse nest left in the garbage that someone had apparently found not only were there mouse droppings but we had to listen to them in the one of the bedrooms needless to say we did not get much rest. "We are not ignorant of the country life and what you can expect considering we lived in the country for 25 years and yes you will get a mouse in the home every now and then but I think more care could have been done before we arrived. The grill was not cleaned the container that the grease would drip into was full to the top lets just say it was not inviting to use. The guy across the road ran his quad up and down the road for hours Saturday and Sunday night so was it relaxing no it was not. And for the price of this home that we paid to stay I think was way out of line. We could have honestly stayed at a very nice Hotel for what we paid to stay for three nights. No we will not be coming back.

Owner's Response: This place is well hidden from the road in the woods that why we have a road sign with Mtn Views name on it pointing out the driveway. We'd put up a larger sign but county ordinance doesn't allow for really large signs. Most guests use our directions and their cars odometer and arrive right at the driveway. Hard to believe that we saw this guest and go with their dog daily and waive and not stop to say anything about a mouse. We of course have combed the house and don't see any mice. We'll keep a look out for them. The July 4th parade was a success sorry that the four wheels were a bother. The parade ended early before dark with some fireworks. Its hard for Americans not celebrate Independence day.

Perfect place to stay, gorgeous view and clean!

  • 5 of 5

This was an ideal spot for our family. The view is second to none. A large yard too for our two dogs. Love the large wrap around porch and the fire pit in the back yard. Even though this places offers a large kitchen we grilled every night on deck and watched the sun set. Very peaceful and quiet. This is a larger two bedroom cottage with beautiful hard wood floors. Both bedrooms offer pillow top queen mattresses that are like new, and two large bathrooms, one bath offers a huge jacuzzi bath tub that both are kids fit in. Family oriented close towns in all directions were fun to visit, shop and enjoy out door festivals and live music. This place gets an A+ too for cleanliness. Lots of good folks helped us make our reservation online but also offered us option to mail in our payments which we really appreciate. Can't wait to return.

Clean, spacious cottage, pristine mountain views

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed this beautiful, quiet cottage sitting on the side of a mountain above the lake where you can see the mountains for miles. We drove around the area and explored Boone, NC and Grandfather mountain. My husband also trout fished while we were there. We were surprised at how big the cottage was and we spent time sitting on the front porch and just taking in the peaceful beauty below. The cottage was very clean and the beds were comfy. Thanks for letting us visit your cottage and we hope to return someday soon.
