The back porch with its’ overhead fans is perfect for fishing, reading or enjoying the sunrise/sunset. The Floating Bungalow has a full kitchen with granite countertop, tiled back splash, a five burner cook stove, full size refrigerator with icemaker, and dishwasher. Cooking utilities, plates, glasses, etc. are provided as well as basic spices. Cook-in, eat-out, or use the gas grill on the back porch. Relax in the stunning and functional living room with cathedral ceiling, stained glass window, electric fireplace, hardwood floors and eight full size windows featuring French doors opening onto a beautiful front porch. Living room includes a full size sleep sofa offers sleeping for another two people. The flat screen TV offers major network stations with ROKU offering Netflix, History Channel, Pandora, and many others. The bathroom is not your typical boat bathroom, as it features a full size shower as well as a residential flush toilet. Family marina offers pontoon boat rentals, bait shop, deli, and pool. Paradise Cove is opening with a full restaurant and pool bar and live music at the Marina on July 1.

There is much to do in the area. The St. John's River is alive with wildlife and birds! Turtles, blue herons, and manatees come right up to the porch of the Floating Bungalow! Boat Tree Marina offers a pool, deli, bait, and rental boats (with a 15% discount to our guests for rental boats). On July 1st we will welcome the opening of Paradise Cove, the Marina’s new restaurant and Pool Bar offering live music. We provide two kayaks free of charge for your leisurely paddling down the river. The St. John’s River is a meandering waterway with cypress covered shoreline and great stands of oak hammocks. The river is full of nesting osprey, bald eagles, manatees and other wildlife. Nearby State Parks offer additional ways to enjoy nature including eco-tours, scuba diving, paddle boating, and swimming. Sanford is one of Central Florida’s oldest incorporated cities, is home to brick-lined streets, towering oaks, elegant store-fronts and large, nineteenth-century Victorian homes. The downtown Historic Sanford is less than five miles away and features events, art galleries, pubs, restaurants, Farmers Market, and a Riverwalk with gazebos and swinging benches and 1.2 miles of pedestrian walking paths. Along the way you can visit Veterans Memorial Park, Marina Island, Ft. Mellon Park, the Sanford Museum, or have lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants. Historic Sanford hosts many events including ArtWalks, Jazz concerts, Farmer's Market, Food Truck Bazaars, monthly “Alive After Five” celebrations, and more. Be sure to check out to see what's happening during your stay. Orlando is only 30 minutes away and offers live shows, culture, and a downtown scene. Daytona Beach and New Symrna Beach are also about 30 minutes away. We are 35-40 minutes away from the Theme Parks – allowing you to go play and come back to relax!

About Cynthia Billings

In our early 50s Warren and I found ourselves in New Hampshire in a 5400 square foot house with our kids moving onto their adult lives. We also found all of our money and time was spent in cleaning and maintaining the house and "stuff" we had accumulated. There are times in everyone's lives when you need to sit back and think about what you want in life and tweak things to achieve this goal. For us, we did much more than tweak!

We decided to simplify life without compromising style, luxury, or beauty. We wanted to spend time "on" the water, move to a warmer climate, stop working full time, and enjoy a relaxed, fun, and joyful lifestyle. This was the beginning of Floating Bungalows.

After designing and building our first Floating Bungalow, we decided to rent out our home to vacationers. We love having vacationers come and find such enjoyment out of our Floating Bungalow!

Cynthia Billings purchased this boat in 2014

Why Cynthia Billings chose Central Florida

The small house movement is taking shape all over the country as people realize they do not want to work in the rat race to support a huge home that they do not have time to enjoy.

Floating bungalows are designed to be low-maintenance homes allowing you to spend more time enjoying what you enjoy - and less time cleaning and maintaining your home.

My husband is native to New Hampshire and we spent 30 years of our life together there. We love having Northerners come stay in the cold months and take extra care that the sun and bungalow refuel them.

The combination of the luxurious space and vacation atmosphere of the Marina, along with the location of our Floating Bungalow make this a perfect vacation spot for people of all ages!

What makes this boat unique

Face it, vacationing on a boat is just plain great! You’ll return from your vacation relaxed and rejuvenated. We have everything to provide you with a fast paced and exciting, laid back and quiet, or active with nature vacation! Come see for yourself why it’s great to be ON the water!

Gorgeous, clean floating bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay immensely, and will be back. For being so compact, the bungalow had everything we needed to cook a couple special meals with company and set a table for four out on the back deck--beautiful! Our guests enjoyed the time as much as we did, overlooking the river, watching the turtles come up to get their meal, and savoring a most relaxing time. Everything is clean, outfitted with comfortable and high quality supplies, and appointed to feel like the best of a summer house - light, airy, and just the perfect amount of color.

Fantastic experience

  • 5 of 5

This was my longest vacation away from my home ever. The owners of this awesome houseboat rental were absolutely wonderful people. The minute we arrived we felt very much welcomed. I recommend staying a month to experience the whole houseboat way of life. The marina where their houseboat is kept is also a lovely closely knit "neighborhood". I especially loved sitting on the porch facing the beautiful lake & the many boats. To watch the sunlight glistening off the water is a very relaxing view. The houseboat itself was truly a work of art. A lovely loft bedroom with very comfy bed just right for 2. There was even a walk in closet. Every detail was well thought out. It is a must see for yourself. If I were u, I'd book today.

Sanford historic district is a nice area with lots of restaurants & shops. The Sanford zoo is practically around the corner from the marina. There is lots to do & a short drive will take u to a gorgeous mall The Millenia.

All in all this February 2016 was the fastest month ever! I'm already thinking about getting away for next winter

Unusual, quirky vacation accomodation.

  • 4 of 5

We were greeted at the floating bungalow by the owners Cynthia Billings and her husband.

We were shown around the very clean, quirky but small floating bungalow (that actually did gently rock now and again).

The décor was modern and fresh with good quality kitchen appliances.

Once we had settled down we fed the Turtles that gathered regularly in the harbour at the back of the bungalow.

Unfortunately the outlook at the back of the bungalow was spoilt somewhat by a large power station situated probably a mile away. Although not intrusive it was clearly visible.

The bungalow itself had a comfortable bed although the low ceiling height upstairs made it difficult for anyone over 6ft tall.

There was a small room at the back of the bungalow (next to the mezzanine bedroom) for clothes storage. It was very small and difficult to use because of the ceiling height.

The bathroom was clean and fresh but quite small. The sink was difficult to use being of narrow design and almost impossible to wash your face without water being spilt on the floor. The shower was poor with low water pressure.

The TV was satisfactory and the electronic fire was used with ease.

Overall, we enjoyed the weeks vacation on the floating bungalow but all the time you were reminded that this was a small area you were living in and compromises had to be made.

We were happy and appreciated the efforts made by the owners to make our stay comfortable.

This was an amazing place to stay! Fun and cozy! Loved feeding the turtles, relaxing on the dock. The bed was so comfy and the marina restaurant rocks! The owners were so nice and want to own one for ourselves! Definitely will be back!

Unique accommodation that you should experience.

  • 5 of 5

The house looked just like it did on the website. Cynthia and Warren were fantastic hosts. Everything we needed to make our stay special was at our fingertips. My husband and son fished while I scrap booked. My son even ventured out in one of the kayaks.I used the pool at the marina one day and it was so relaxing. I can't wait to go back again.
