Overview

About the property

Secluded cottage with a 6 person hot tub!!

Nersum Waters is a pet friendly cottage located within walking distance to the Raystown branch of the juniata river. Enjoy the sounds of nature and the peaceful tranquility of the surroundings from this second story cottage nestled 12 feet above the ground. Watch the wildlife from the oversized windows in living room or let the squirrels entertain you in the mornings as you awake and gaze out the 9 foot sliding glass doors in the master bedroom. Let the days of endless traffic and boring meetings be washed away as you embrace the surroundings as you walk in the secluded area and stroll to the river where you will find a private river front area that is only for Nersum Waters guests. At the river you will find a canoe outfitted with paddles and life jackets and a campfire ring for those nighttime fishing excursions.

Everything you need is included at Nersum Waters. The kitchen is well stocked for making the family dinner. The living room is equipped with a 46' flat led hdtv with Dish tv for all your sports viewing pleasures. The bathroom is equipped with enough towels and linens for a large family as well as the paper products. Unlimited long distance and wireless internet included as well. The bedrooms are equipped with extra blankets and linens.

Nersum Waters was hand built by the owner over the past several years having a lot of pride, sweat and tears being put into this beautiful home. Every room has a different story associated with it having hardwood throughout such as the cherry and black walnut wainscoting, poplar slab wall, curly maple kitchen and even the bathroom was given its own identity with an aromic western cedar ceiling. Watch as it changes colors from the steam and then you will catch that familiar scent of cedar from the wood.

Seasonal cottage

  • 4 of 5

We went in the late fall and the cottage wasn't able to heat up very well. No porch light which made the walk up the stairs at night dicey. The lighters were out of fluid so lighting the fire pit with matches took some time and patience. The hiking/walking trails weren't on the cottage side, you'd have to canoe to the other side of the river and walk up the mountains which would have been fun if it wasn't so cold (and the canoe didn't have frozen water in it). The power went off twice and I needed to switch the breakers back on. However, during the summer and early fall months, this place would be good. The place is cozy and has a selection of movies and books. The windows in the bedroom gave it a nice outdoor feel. Josh had the hot tub heated and ready to go and were open to any questions. Josh and his dad were helpful and overall good hosts. I'd recommend it to others during the summer months.

Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Josh was great. We booked very last minute based on not being able to go where we planned for our honeymoon. The cottage was very cozy and comfortable. We brought our boat with us and enjoying being close to Raystown Lake. Also totally loved the canoe! I think we ended up catching more fish out of it than on our boat. The hot tub was really relaxing. Not much is close by (exactly what we wanted) but there is a nice little bar and general store. Josh answered any questions we had and was very prompt and friendly. It was nice that there is a house phone and wifi since we had no signal until we got about 10 minutes away from the house. We would stay again.

My Husband n I enjoy are stay , it was exactly what we were looking for .

  • 4 of 5

We loved it ,just what we were looking for private, quiet and secluded. The fishing was great .The canoe and the hot tub was a bonus. The house was clean and had the supplies we needed .The only down fall tl there was no propane for the grill , but we didn't call josh for any because we didn't want to be a bother . Diffently would stay again.

A lovely, peaceful place to relax and recharge.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. The setting is peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed the short walk to the river access and the leisurely paddle on the river in the canoe so graciously provided by the owner. Evening soaks in the - well kept, clean - hot tub were particularly lovely! Thank you, Josh, for a much needed (though short) getaway.

Best Regards,

-Anne
