Amazing Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Just fabulous! The house is beautifully decorated (obviously by a professional) and in the most wonderful location. Westhampton is 25 mins away and the vinyards on the north fork are 20 mins away. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. And I'm almost forgot about the fresh cut flowers when we arrived! Thanks again. S

Charming! We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I enjoyed the home immensely. It was the perfect place for an extended weekend for the five of us. As described, it is a modernized country cottage in a small village on the north shore of the Long Island Sound. It was clean, very comfortable, extremely peaceful and quiet, had wi-fi, flat screen tvs with cable, and felt like a well maintained, rustic inn. The bedrooms were comfortable with clean linen, plenty of towels, and brand new shower cosmetics and soap. My young grandchildren loved the pool, and my children appreciated the fact that the number of outdoor activities that are available within steps kept their kids busy all weekend. There is a private beach, baseball diamond, tennis courts, and a village playground, it's like camp! The owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating, they had the house professionally cleaned before we arrived, as well the pool, and we arrived to fresh flowers. We will certainly be back! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Wonderful Home..Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

We were in town visiting family and needed a spot close by. The house is a great mix of old charm meets some modern touches. The décor is well done and very inviting. It's just a short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches. The owners were super accommodating and friendly. We liked it so much, we extended our stay 3 extra days!

Property was miss represented

  • 1 of 5

After a long flight from California and looking forward to a beautiful week in Long Island, we found ourselves looking for a new place to stay.

The amenities were not satisfaction, no top sheets on the beds, not enough towels for 4 people, personal toiletries left in the shower (hair on soap bar).

Bedrooms were not acceptable they need a lot of work, that's why they don't show you any pictures of the bathrooms nor bedrooms.

Clothes and undergarments were left in the bedroom drawers and closets.

The kitchen towels were grungy, kitchen counter had crumbs on it, refrigerator had left over condiments, (don't need to use other peoples condiments).

Overall bad experience and would not recommend it to anyone.

Owner's Response: We remain completely and totally shocked by this experience. As a matter of fact, the last review we received (from April) literally says "home is exactly as described". In response, I'll just address each point separately. 1. There was a freshly laundered top-sheet in the linen closet, which we communicated to the guest (we don't use top sheets in the summer, as it's 85 degrees outside, so we had it left off the bed, on-purpose). 2. There were 6 freshly laundered towels, which should be enough for 4 people. This guest was offended by our use of "beach vs. bath towels"… 3. Yes, we stored a few toiletries in the cabinet under the sink's vanity. We had no idea unopened contact lens solution and cotton balls would be so off-putting. However, the actual bathroom cabinets and shelves were completely vacant (and spotless, I might add). As far as the soap goes, there was an unopened glycerin soap waiting for these guests. All other soap in the house is liquid. So, this accusation seems completely physiologically impossible. 4. There are accurate, recent photographs of every room in our home on this site. Master bedroom, loft bedrooms, and bathrooms included. 5. Yes, we devote 4 large closets to our guests and use the rest to store our own things. There is ample space for a family of 4 to store everything they need for several weeks. 6. Our kitchen washcloths were also freshly laundered. Period. As far as "crumbs on the butcher block" goes, I have never heard anything so bizarre in my life. Our cleaning service was in the day prior (as is the case with all of our renters). To address the "condiments" in the refrigerator critique, we bought those condiments brand new and left them for our guests, as we have a barbecue outside and thought it might be nice not to have to run out and buy full jars of ketchup, mustard, etc for a stay of one week. No good deed goes unpunished. In closing, all I can say is, this home is EXACTLY as described. It is an "original bungalow", a country cottage. It is not the Ritz Carlton, nor is it presented to be such. Is this house old and charming? Yes. Is it unkempt? Absolutely not. Our assumption here remains that this guest was probably on the wait-list for a hotel in the area, and when their number came up, tried to disentangle themselves from staying in our home to be closer to the event they were in town to attend. However, that certainly doesn't mean our home was "misrepresented".
