Secluded, great views, fireflies and walking stick insects!
Our family grew up in the Rockies and enjoy alpine camping, but getting back there from Texas doesn't happen very often. In trying to escape the triple digit weather and get some elevation we came across PKC so thought we would try it. The weather was about 20 degrees cooler which was a wonderful respite. The location was as secluded as advertised. Our family has T-Mobile cell service and we were only able to get a single bar in certain corners of the deck and house, which was perfect! (Evidently AT&T works much better, but we didn't mind communicating by text at all.) There were nature hikes aplenty, beautiful nature drives nearby, and lots of unique insects we loved inspecting. (Ticks, not so much.) The owners invited us to the local Independence Day Celebration and it was the best community-felt, grandest party and celebration in which we had participated for decades. Highly recommended!!
