When you want to upgrade from waterfront.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I decided to take a long weekend and visit in January. The boat is clean and well equipped, (we brought our own Kuerig and blender). The ability to stay on the water to eat, sleep, relax and drink Piña Coladas was remarkable. We also used the back of the boat to launch our paddle board and to snorkel. The water was slightly cold but bearable. I would have snorkeled more but I saw a few jellyfish and didn't want to push my luck. The restrooms and showers at the marina were immaculate. The owners and the marina residents were friendly and helpful.

We visited Lorelei, which we enjoyed, and Marker 88, which has the most spectacular view of sunsets on the Bay, (but just a bit more pricey!) We kayaked in the Tavanier Creek and explored the small creeks among the mangroves. We would recommend that to anyone!

My wife and I will certainly consider staying again when we are fortunate enough to head south next time.

Owner's Response: Great to read about you and your wife making the best of your long weekend on Northern Cross. Looks like you combined fun with a healthy dose of relaxation. Staying on a boat while visiting the Keys does that to you. Almost all of the jellyfish you see in the Marina are non-poisonous Moon jellies. Once you know how to recognise them (it's easy!), you can snorkel with complete confidence. Many people tell us they see more fish in the Marina than out at the reefs. You also found out how enjoyable it is to paddle around the marina and adjacent canals in addition to exploring the many mangroves. It's just one of the many activities around the Keys that make for a great getaway. Also glad you found Lorelei's. It's a local favourite watering hole. If you plan to take in their sunset magician show make sure you get there early! We are always happy to have return visitors so hope to see you next year! Most people can,t get enough of the Keys in a single visit.

Excellent Accomodations!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week on Northern Cross. What an excellent experience to stay on a sailing yacht versus a hotel or condo. Tony and Rick were easy to work with and provided excellent information concerning their boat and all associated matters. The boat is in excellent shape. With 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, our family of 5 fit perfectly. And you can swim right from the back and rinse off at the outdoor shower. Captain Paul was the perfect neighbor and a great resource for the Keys. He even offers some cool outings via his powerboat. The marina owners, Jerry and Sandy, were most inviting. Clean showers and bathrooms, and a Tiki hut with grills available for cooking your catch. And the landscaping was amazing.

I can't say enough about this option.

Thanks All!

Sincerely,

Mike O.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such an upbeat review. Visiting the Keys is all about being on the water and meeting friendly people. Looks like you found both. The Tiki Hut is definitely the social hub of Bluewater Marina. Far better and less expensive to BBQ there than to go to an expensive restaurant. Glad you did some adventuring with Captain Paul. We find more and more of our guests take advantage of his "adventure list" exclusively available for our guests. One thing we talked about over the phone was seeing the dolphins swimming right off the back of our boat where you can swim. Now that was a real treat! I've seen lots of tarpon and a few manatees but so far haven't had the luck you had. Most of all, it was a pleasure to talk with you and hear personally how much your family enjoyed their stay on Northern Cross.

Great Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

I recently returned from a 4 night 'girls trip' stay aboard the Northern Cross. It was a wonderful experience. Rick and Tony were fantastic to work with and communication throughout the rental process and stay was superb. The boat is beautiful and spacious and well taken care of. There were three of us on this trip and the space and bedrooms offered just enough room. We spent many evenings swimming in the water right off the boat. Captain Paul was great. His excursions were fun and affordable and very convenient (he is in the boat next door). We apparently stayed during the off season because we rarely saw anyone at the Tiki Hut but the people we did see around the marina were very kind. (One gentleman gave me his laundry detergent to do our laundry when he overheard me saying I needed to run to the Winn Dixie to pick some up). I would highly recommend the Northern Cross!

Owner's Response: Thanks four your 5 star review. There are certainly a bunch of friendly and helpful people living on their boats at Bluewater Marina. Sounds like Captain Paul kept "the girls" well entertained. He loves taking people out on adventures for a very reasonable cost. Also happy to see Northern Cross met your expectations. She really is a great lady!

Great being right on the water

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice boat in a very nice marina. It was close to everything and very clean. Would recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different than a hotel. The owners and the property manager were wonderful to work with and we had the perfect vacation!

Unique Keys getaway for the two of us

  • 5 of 5

We were so excited to book our stay aboard the Northern Cross, and our expectations were definitely met! While it was just the two of us, my husband and I agreed you could easily accommodate more guests. We spent the majority of our time either on the deck of the boat or out and about enjoying the abundance of activities and restaurants in the area. The owners, Tony and Rick, provided a comprehensive list of restaurants along the Keys, and Captain Paul provided a short list of his own favorites on arrival as well - be sure to try out his sunset recommendation! The other marina residents were incredibly welcoming, even feeding us dinner and sharing stories into the late hours one night. Our stay was such a lovely change of pace from the daily grind, it was quite easy to put work and responsibility out of mind and just enjoy our vacation. If you are considering this rental, don't hesitate to book it.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your superb review. You really captured what makes Northern Cross so special. The boat itself, the marina where it is located, the people you meet and all the great things to do and places to eat! We really try to provide our guests with a unique accommodation that as you say allows you to "forget it all". Appreciate your very enthusiastic recommendation.
