Charming medieval colombage property situated along a calm cobblestone lane in the square of Beaulieu's 12th century church. Centrally located, in walking distance to all amenities and just a few minutes walk to the Dordogne River. La Correze, located on the 2nd floor, is welcoming with soft natural light and comfortable furnishings. The original stone cantou fireplace has been integrated into the new modern fully equipped kitchen which is adjacent to the living room. The living room and bedroom overlook the cobblestone lane lined with medieval houses. Morning sun fills the kitchen where there is a table for 2. Warm and cosy with double glazing, electric radiators this apartment is available for rental all the year. Sleeping 2 comfortably the single bedroom has one double bed (140 x 200), dresser and closet. The bathroom is complete with bathtub including shower, under floor heating, towels and hair dryer. Access to the apartment is by a common entry door at ground level and each apartment has an interphone for entry door access. The renovation of the house has been a rewarding experience. It had been left to ruin and many villagers thought it would have to be torn down. We have kept as many of the original interior features as possible. It was a 5 year process and a rewarding one to bring this building back to life.

In this apartment the massive cantou fireplace with its stone sides and large wooden mantle now houses the kitchen units. This apartment is bright and airy and overlooks the lane of medieval houses and part of the church square. Living room and bedroom windows are with shutters.

We hope you enjoy the experience of living in a medieval village in a 15th century house with its insides offering you all the modern comforts and conveniences.

What makes this apartment unique

The colombage facade stands out boldy above the cobblestone lane. She sits comfortably amongst stone houses along the lane. The wood carved window surrounds on the first floor date to the 15th century and are a rare example as most preserved ones are of stone. Being in the old centre you are away from the main village road. The cobblestone lane inside running round the 12th century church is full of medieval ambiance and history. A short walk away is the beautiful Dordogne River with all the activities it has to offer. A good base to go off on excursions to other villages and historic sites in the region.

Every May the village hosts a Strawberry Festival and in summer every Monday evening there is a local producers market near the river. A bbq is set up and volunteers cook food you purchase and picnic tables available at riverside. A band provides entertainment. Canoeing, fishing, hiking, cycling, sampling the gastronomy and experiencing the cafe scene are all at your doorstep.

A boulangerie is only steps away, just follow your nose! Pretty location facing the 12th century church and the other houses in the square. In walking distance to cafes, shops, the local market and to the Dordogne River. The apartments have been renovated to new in 2014 so they are clean, bright and each has their own charm.

Lovely apartment, renovated to a superb standard.

Beautifully renovated apartment with lots of character and everything we needed for a thoroughly enjoyable 2 night stay in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. Our host was most helpful and provided lots of information about the surrounding area.

We recommend walking along the river and up into the surrounding countryside!
